Marvel Online Slots to be discontinued

Marvel licenses will not be renewed for Marvel slot games. They will be discontinued at all Crypto brand 14 Feb 2014.

Disney acquired Marvel some time ago and to keep up with their family and clean brand image they are not allowing the Marvel games to feature as online slots.

Goodbye Cryptologic Marvel games and I assume the Playtech ones as well.

When it comes to Cryptologic, I found DC Comics themed slots (like Batman, Superman, The Flash etc) to be somewhat better than Marvel themed ones.

However, I will surely miss Playtech ones a lot. I can say 90% of my playtime spent on Playtech games was on their Marvel slots. Removing them from their slots portfolio is quite a disappointment.

This is sad... So until Disney opens up Slots in the Disneyland, we're screwed!

That's just awful; they had some great slots. I will surely miss playing them.

Well it seems that maybe Playtech Marvel slots wasn't included, because they still around.

So maybe it was just cryptologic slots that was discontinued?

EDIT: after doing some quick research, i just found an article that states that they still appear to have a few years left before they expire, it didn't say a date, but the date of that article was march 2014.

Thanks for the info DreamRJ. To be honest I ever really had luck on Playtech's or Crytpo's Marvel slots. It is a shame that such cool games are going.

Sad indeed but understandable. Can't say I have played Marvel slots for years but I always enjoyed them and had some nice wins off them.

I read somewhere that slot's that have the theme of films/cartoons only get a licence to use the theme for a certain amount of time. So for Lord of the rings MG slot, the licence expired or something so it was pulled down and no longer exists.

The same could happen to slots like the Batman: The Dark Knight in years to come too when the licence Warner gave MG has expired.

I didn't read anything official regarding this but many people are saying that's what happened and it makes sense really.

Playtech - Marvel Slots work Extreme slow in Mosts Playtech casinos - its hard to play broke enterteiment - when player must wait  5 seckund  or more beetwen next spins.  This is why im dont play in playtech marvel slots.

@FAZIII1 - Yes that happens to me too, spins take 10 seconds or more and it looks like the slot is freezing after each spin, this happens at 90% of all playtech casinos, i have no idea why this happens though , my friend doesnt have that problem though, it is strange

What you stated in your post is generally correct as far as I know marcus2281 but I suspect the LOTR case is a little different. I read on the message boards at a big movie/TV site that the Tolkien estate is suing Warner's over how the media company has handled the book rights... I don't know all the specifics but, along with disagreement over profits and the like, the late author's family reportedly did not approve of their intellectual property being associated with gambling. So I think the lawsuit was the main reason for the slot being removed since, while I only played it once with a free spins offer, I recall it only being available for quite a short time compared to other licensed games.
