  • I know i saw something about this but what is going on with UK and online casinos. I also heard a bit about Canada. I am interested to know because i think what ever is going on maybe what was like what happened to the USA. I remember how some casinos had said they were not leaving the US market and greedily took deposits just to hit us with the old ax and tell us they were closing to the USA. Then  we were moved by some to other casinos. I for one was devastated being left with the bottom of the bucket to play at  be_sickamp;.

  • Yes, there are some changes, as much as I know there's a new Gambling (Licensing and Advertising) Act which will come into force on 01 October 2014. Overseas operators now need to apply for the relevant licences In Britain.

I'm sure that British players know more about what's going on.

  •           So they just need to pay a fee for a license?  I can't believe that would make all these sites close shop.  I  agree Rena,  I hope they don't suffer the same fate that happened to us.  It would be great if  they would regulate it so our favs would come back.  (To USA)

Would be nice huh bongo. Then we could say good bye to some of these casinos that take our money then make us beg for our withdraw.
  • I personally think all these casino software companies are owned by a few big banking families. Who allow them to be branched out into different brands. I think these families will merge all the casinos and currency into 1 global system. I think we are seeing it being unfold right before our eyes.

  • It's all about money.

The UK Govt. want money from remote operators for deposits made by UK customers or rather customers that usually reside in the UK.  Casinos like All Slots and GoWild will no longer be available to UK players because they don't want to pay the relevant point/place of consumption tax.  It just means a smaller market for UK players and a bigger market for the operators that are willing to cough up tax.

  • It's getting quite insulting from these casinos too. I just got this :

Congratulations, your CasinoUK account is being upgraded to our Premium UK casino brand, RoxyPalace.com

Congratulations???????????? Like I just won something, but they have just passed my details over. Now that should be illegal.

Exactly what I said in the other thread. They are selling your information off to other companies. This is wrong and should be illegal. Who to say I want me info spread to places I didn't approve of.
  • Selling information in a last ditch effort to squeeze a little more out of you before they throw you away  >:(.

Is it a bit like the "brilliant" idea that the Danish Gov. got a few years ago?

(Just for the record....That idea the Danish Gov. got, that was and still is a TERRIBLE idea,if somebody ask me!!)
Now you mention GoWild,It was my fav. Microgaming casino, now us Danes can only play a few Microgaming Casinos and all of them have (just like a farmer that removes weed) removed,i think at least 50% of the games if not more. That have made me drop Microgaming Casinos although it was my Fav. They simply became boring!

I'm not sure if i blame the Casinos, for not wanting to by the licenses because those that have, they are not allowed to decide witch games they would like to have in their own casino. I blame our Gov. because, according to me,they found out that "here was there some easy money" let us find a way to legally "steel" some of them. That way is called licenses!
They did that maybe 10-11 years ago with every little "club" where people in Denmark went gambling, and there were many. Those clubs were told to close down OR they could keep doing business,if only they got rid of all their machines and then got some new ones that they Gov. controlled. Since then no Video Poker or decent slots only 3 reels slots. After that i began to do online casino gambling! The Gov. destroyed the fun, just like they did a few years ago after they found out that now we were playing online casinos
(there, online casinos.we got at least some fun, while we where losing our money  grin)

You know MG did us Americans the same way. They gave us a off name brand software with around 50% of their games to play. Then they took that away. Don't be surprised if MG take those games away soon after as well...
  • RTG here comes fresh meat (just kidding).  laugh_out_loud wink RTG is not so bad once you get used to them  whistle.

    LOL

It hopefully won't be too bad.  It's not like gambling is illegal and never will be  - the Govt make too much money out of it.

LMAO!!!! Nice joke. RTG has to be the worst major gaming software out. Before Hastings International bought the company in 2007. RTG was a pretty decent software. In my opinion it was one of the fairest one's out and based in Atlanta. But since Mr. Haysacks bought it. Things sure has changed...

Yep,I know your hit hard "over there". My Wife is born and now also living in Minnesota. I feel for you!
  • Specifically, the UK government are now implementing a point of consumption tax at 15percent for all bets placed by citizens of the UK. Many casinos are choosing to bail out of this market rather than obtain the necessary license and pay the tax - one big problem is that their is a provision within the law that states software providers who allow their software to be used by casinos offering their games to UK residents without the necessary license, will be prevented from offering their games via other casinos who DO have the correct agreements in place. This effectively means Microgaming, (for example) must ensure that any casino using their software eithers gets the UK license and agrees to pay the tax, or stops offering their services to UK customers - or else risk EVERY casino being prohibited from offering Microgaming software.

I believe this is the reason why the effect of this legislation has been so enormous and disrputive - though I am still surprised at the number of casinos who have decided this market is not worth a small additional tax! I am also really gutted to be losing so many great casinos and poker rooms .... I just hope that in the long run, it will be worth it - the legislation promises additional safeguards for players to ensure we are getting a fair game and can expect to be paid should we win - though I have never had any issues in that regard with the casinos I choose to play at anyway.

I just hope it does not turn out to be the first step towards the outlawing of online gaming here in the UK. The nanny-state must-protect-everybody-from-themselves movement has some real traction here at the moment it seems, I fully expect us to be banned from betting more than £2 per spin at roulette (thats across the whole board, not on a single number!) at our licensed betting shops soon as a result of these people lobbying the government over something they clearly know very little about. It's ridiculous.
