        Hiya LCB'ers,

Have you ever played a slot and wondered how many were playing right along with you while you played? I know a couple weeks ago i was playing Aztec Treasure Slot and the Random Jackpot was super high and about to go and it did while i was playing! Unfortunately it wasn't me.

But it got me to wondering how many of us were playing at that moment and what the odds were by the number of players.

Do you think it would be a cool idea for casinos to show how many players are on each slot? What other features would you like to see online casinos offer?

It would actually be super cool lips, as that is a very valuable info for a slot player. Im not sure however if casinos would have interest in sharing that information with players, as im most certain it would attract majority of players to certain "hot" games, while others would be left out of players mostly if not completely

yeah that feature would be cool, and as drtheolen said, it would attract players to the hot slots and other slots would get ignored, would be nice though, i might even suggest this at 3dice seeming they already have the zietgiest, so im sure they might actually agree to adding this maybe, who knows hehe

Yes they do, but i don't know how accurate this is, you see a screen of 200 pictures with players playing a slot or empty places, but that would mean that only 200 players can play that slot at once..........i think at stargames it is just an indication, or for entertainment, not a real statistic..............

Now Johan made a good point, if a casino would want to promote certain slot, there is nothing that would stop them from making up the statistic, which in the end would renedered the feature useless

I have to say, I wouldn't like t know the number of players because I assume that there's a lot of them. The fact that I don't know the number makes it easier for me to play.

Great question Lips and yes I have actually wondered how many others are playing the slot at the same time as me.  I think it would be great to know how many are playing a particular slot.

          Lips,

I think it would be a cool feature just for the sake of knowing how many people are playing the machine, irrespective of whether or not there are any jackpots.  It seems that it should be relatively easy to install, because even single player points games on Yahoo! Games have a scroll banner on top which announces it anytime a player wins a Moderate sum of points.

I believe that such a feature would also benefit the casino because you can play with the Psychology of a player by letting the player know who has won what large sums of cash (even if not a jackpot) on THAT VERY MACHINE.  I doubt if anyone will let himself/hersef go bankrupt over it, but it might keep some players in for a few more pulls, maybe a small extra deposit here or there that he/she might not have otherwise made.

I would imagine that the number of players would have, at most, a negligible effect on the odds.

I would assume it works like a slot machine at a physical casino.  You may have a five reel machine with fifteen different slots, and each reel houses 500 different possible outcomes.  You see three outcomes per reel, so assuming there is one of something in a reel, your odds of seeing that thing are 3/500 or 1/166.66.

Just for an example, let's say you need five, "Triple Jackpots," in order to win the progressive jackpot, and there is only one, "Triple Jackpot," per reel and there are 500 outcomes in each reel.  The Triple Jackpots, we'll assume, can be scattered.

          In that event, your odds of hitting the Progressive would be 1/166 * 1/166 * 1/166 * 1/166 * 1/166 or 1 : 126,049,300,576.

That is the chance for any given spin.  The Gambler's Fallacy is such that, the more spins that have gone without the Jackpot, the more likely the Jackpot is to take place.  That's not true in a probabilistic sense, however.

Theoretically, you could be the only player, pull the handle forever, and never see that result.  That's why the odds are technically unaffected.

At the bingo slots, most sites have a number assigned to each spin.  If you watch the subsequent spin numbers, you can estimate how many players are playing along.  If your next spin number only goes up by one, you are most likely the only one playing at the time.  If five numbers have gone by between your spins, probably 4-5 players are playing that slot at the same time.

It's a nice feature if you are interested.
