Well, I'm not so sure if I can wait to be randomly picked or if I should just rush right into it!  heheh... WinADay Casino, please, and they call me chillymellow there.

thanks very much to both generous and very nice casinos for the Easter contest!  Here's my answers:

      1.  Which day are Hot Cross Buns traditionally eaten on?
Because of the Tudor law forbidding their sale except on Good Friday, it is traditional to eat them on Good Friday (though Easter Sunday is okay over here)

      2.  What is the first day of Lent called?
      It's called Ash Wednesday.

      3.  Easter is the end of Lent. How long does Lent last (not including the Sundays)?
Lent is supposed to last 40 days, but add them up; either Ash Wednesday to Maundy Thursday or Easter Sunday still isn't 40 days unless you take out the Sundays, but the Roman Catholic Church now says Lent ends on Holy Thursday instead of Easter Eve and is 38 days.  Let's call it about 6 weeks...

      4.  How many Faberge eggs were made?
There are 69 eggs made by Carl Faberge that are called Faberge eggs.  If he made more, too bad, they aren't Faberge eggs.

      5.  What does "Mardi Gras" mean?
Well I don't know what it means where you are but in France it means Fat Tuesday.  Here it probably means beads, partying, drinking, and flashing the crowd to a lot of people.

Hope this isn't inappropriate, but folks, before anyone else posts, check your answer to number 4.  I could be wrong, but I believe that technically we are all so far incorrect.  There are a few types of the eggs you'll find in an online search, so there are different numbers out there.

I answered 69, but I misunderstood that simple question...I believe there are 69 still remaining in existence, but that's not the number actually made.  Anyway, this is all just speculation on my part, and if I'm wrong in this post, please delete it.  Just trying to help some members out.  Independent thinking and research can pay off with this contest!

      Good luck everyone!

You;re right Chilly - there are different numbers out there. I dont think plus or minus a few will go against anyone who joins in this free contest. wink

I've added "plus or minus 5" to that question.

Chilly....I think your right, thanks smiley

A Fabergé egg is considered to be any one of the sixty-nine[1] jeweled eggs made by Peter Carl Fabergé and his assistants between 1885 and 1917. Fifty of those eggs—known as the Imperial Fabergé Easter eggs—were made and presented to Czars Alexander III and Nicholas II of Russia,[2] initially as gifts for their wives, the Tsarinas. At that time, a tradition was started within the royal Russian family that included making a jeweled egg to commemorate Holy Days and special celebrations.

So ill put 69 eggs instead of 50

      Good Friday
      Ash Wednesday

      1. Hot cross buns are traditionally eaten on Good Friday.
      2. The first day of Lent is Ash Wednesday  ("Ash Monday" is the first day of Lent in
          Eastern Catholic and Orthodox Churches)
      3. Lent lasts approximately 40 days, depending on the year. (In most Western
denominations Lent runs from Ash Wednesday to Holy Thursday morning
or to Easter Eve. In the Catholic Church, Lent lasts until Holy Thursday.)
      4. Approximately 50 to 57 original eggs were made. Some sources say 69 made.
      5. Mardi Gras means in French, literally "fat Tuesday”.
