A kid came up with a bright idea to dress up as an IRS Agent. This way he could take 28% of the man's candy and leave without saying 'Thank You!'.

      Some interesting Stuff about Halloween

Halloween is the third biggest party day of the year behind New Year’s and Super Bowl Sunday, respectively

Turnips and Beets once served as the original Jack O’ Lanterns.

Halloween is the second most commercially successful  Holiday with Christmas being the first. Can you believe that Halloween candy sales average about 2 billion dollars annually
      in the United States?

Tootsie Rolls were the first wrapped penny candy in America. mmmm

According to superstition if you stand in front of a mirror at midnight, you’ll see the reflection of your future spouse just over your left shoulder.

Legends say if you see a spider on Halloween, it is the spirit of a loved on watching over you

LoL I like this one : You can sprinkle salt and oatmeal on your child’s head to keep him or her from being possessed (anytime, not just Halloween)

In England, white cats instead of black ones are thought to be bad luck. < Can anyone confirm this?

Harry Houdini died on Halloween, in 1926 from peritonitis caused by a ruptured appendix. < Or did something else happen?? Very interesting to research

Put your clothes on inside out and walk backwards on Halloween night to meet a witch... Or a Tree

It is during the Halloween festivitys that about 99% of pumpkins that are marketed domestically, are utilized for the purpose of making Jack O'Lanterns.

Pumpkins also come in white, blue and green. That's kinda neat

There really are so-called vampire bats, but they're not from Transylvania. They live in Central and South America and feed on the blood of cattle, horses and birds.  Creepy buggers, watched a discovery
      channel special on them

Let's not forget that "Stingy Jack" the myth man behind the Jack O'Lantern was a GAMBLER!!!!!

Thank you for the great contest guys!!

I want to wish everyone a safe, scary and FUN Halloween this year!

Halloween is about our favorite holiday ever. Here is a pic of Halloween at our house. What you can't see in the pic is that there is a large hole dug under the black draped platform where my husband hid and reached out or popped out and scared the bejeebers out of the Trick and Treaters. We think some of them may still be in counseling!

      MAKING JACK O' LANTERNS

      Just take a golden pumpkin
      Of quite the largest size,
Cut all 'round the stem, just so,
      Scrape out the inside below,
And cut two holes for eyes.
And now fix a nose beneath,
And such a great big mouth with teeth,
      And you've a jack-o'-lantern!

      Then fix a tallow candle,
      Just big enough to light,
And when it flickers, see him blink,
And when it flares up, see him wink
And smile so broad and bright.
This is the jolliest sort of a fellow,
With cheery face so round and yellow,
      This funny jack-o'-lantern.

This is actually true leavefall although I think it has been twisted to black cats in recent years.  I definitely don't like a white cat crossing my path.

      Baked Pumpkin Pie Oatmeal

      Serving Size: 4 early pie-risers.

      Ingredients:
1 cup oats - old fashioned or quick
      3/4 cup pumpkin puree
      3/4 cup milk
      1/4 cup brown sugar
      1 Tablespoon butter - softened
      1 teaspoon vanilla
      1/2 teaspoon orange zest
      1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
      1/2 teaspoon salt
      1/4 teaspoon ground ginger
      1/8 teaspoon ground cloves
      1/8 teaspoon ground nutmeg
      For Topping:
1/4 cup chopped pecans or walnuts
      2 Tablespoons white sugar
      2 Tablespoon softened butter
      Directions:

      Preheat oven to 375 degrees.

Prepare 4 individual 1-cup ramekins by coating the inside generously with cooking spray.

Prepare the topping mixture by combining the three ingredients together in a small bowl. Set aside.

Mix all dry spices together in a small bowl.

Combine all other ingredients together in a large mixing bowl. Mix well and slowly sprinkle in the spice mixture at the end so it's distributed evenly through the mix.

Divide the mixture among the four ramekins.

Bake for 10 minutes. Carefully sprinkle equal parts of the topping mixture over each serving. Bake for an additional 7 minutes.

Allow oatmeal to cool at least 5 minutes before serving. Enjoy!

To make this dish extra special, serve with a cool heaping Tablespoon of reduced-fat vanilla ice cream or whipping cream on top.

      ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
      Brain Cell Salad

      Serving Size: 6 psycho surgeons.

      Ingredients:
1 pk (6oz) blueberry jello mix
1 ct (16oz) small curd cottage Cheese
      1 can (16 1/2oz) blueberries in syrup OR 3/4 c Frozen blueberries-thawed
      Blue food coloring
      Directions:

With an adult's help, prepare jello according to package directions. Chill 4-5 hours or until firm. Scoop cottage cheese into a bowl. Drain and set aside the syrup from the blueberries. Add the berries to the cottage cheese and mix well. Add three drops of food coloring to turn the cottage cheese a nice grayish color when blended.

To serve salad, place a few spoonfuls of firm gelatin, (congealed brain fluid), onto individual serving plates. Top with a scoop of cottage cheese (brain tissue) mixture and serve.

      ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
      Boogers On A Stick

Serving Size: 5 to 6 booger buddies.

      Ingredients:
      8 ounces Jar cheez whiz
      Green food coloring
      25 to 30 pretzel sticks
      Directions:

With an adults help, melt the cheeze whiz in the microwave or on top of the stove, according to directions on the jar. Allow the cheese to cool slightly in the jar. Using a long handled spoon, carefully stir about three drops of green food coloring into the warm cheese, using just enough to turn the cheese a delicate booger green. HIH note: lol, hehehe... yeah!

To form boogers: Dip and twist the tip of each prtezel stick into the cheese, lift out, wait twenty seconds, then dip again. When cheese lumps reach an appealingly boogerish size, set pretzels, booger down, onto a sheet of waxed paper. Allow finished boogers on a stick to cool at room temperature for ten minutes or until cheese is firm. Gently pull boogers off waxed paper and arrange on a serving platter.

      ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
      Frozen Jack-O-Lanterns

      Serving Size: 12 frozen Jacks.

      Ingredients:
      12 Navel oranges
      12 Cinnamon sticks
1/2 Gallon Dark chocolate ice cream
      Directions:

Cut off tops of oranges. Gently hollow out pulp (reserve for another use), leaving a thick shell; hollow out pulp off tops also. Cut Jack-O-Lantern faces into each orange. Pack chocolate ice cream into shells, avoid letting ice cream come out of holes. Cut a hole into top of orange top. Set tops back on, over ice cream, and inset cinnamon stick stem through the hole. Place in freezer for at least 3 hours, or until serving time.

      Enjoy!
