    The spirit of season is here and it’s not so much about Christmas morning and opening up presents, it is the entire holiday season that is magical. The hustle and bustle of busy shoppers, baking, wrapping presents and putting up the Christmas tree and all the decorations is what builds memories that last a lifetime.

    Every holiday season we reminisce about all the Christmas’ before and follow family traditions that have been handed down from generation to generation. Trying to make Grandma’s recipe for sugar cookies that never quite turns out like hers did, gathering around and watching Christmas Vacation with such anticipated excitement even though you have seen 100 times before and playing those favorite Christmas songs year after year are what we hold near and dear. 

    Sometimes Christmas can be sad because we lost someone very close to us. I remember my mom saying to me “these are the best Christmas’ of your life because we are all together”.

    This is my first Christmas without my mom who was Ms. Christmas in every way. If not for her I wouldn’t enjoy the excitement of the holiday like I do today. But I have to admit as the season approached I became very sentimental as thoughts of her kept creeping in my thoughts.

    Then I realized how sad she would be to know that the spirit of the season would not be the same because she was no longer here. It took every bit of strength from within to embrace the good memories and not dwell on missing her because I know she would want it no other way. I hope it can bring a bit of encouragement to those of you who have lost someone you love.

    May your Christmas be filled with happiness regardless of how rich, poor or who is still here or not to share it with you. It’s not about the gifts or how much money you have, it’s about building memories that will last forever.

    The LCB family has grown through the years and some of you are still here and new members are added every day. We have had our ups, downs and through it all we have persevered as one very strong community.

    We are building memories of our own right here on this forum just like the magic of Christmas.

    I know it had to be difficult for you to approach the holiday season without your mom. You are a strong one and this too shall pass. Christmas is definitely about family and friends.
