  • European beer brands suffer as Americans, Mexican and beers climb the brand value ladder. European beer brands Heineken, Amstel and Stella Artois have all dropped down the list of the world’s most valuable beer brands.

What beers are the favorites? Budwieser, Corona and Fosters. In fact Budwieser is the second most popular beverage in the world behind Coca Cola! Heineken comes in at second, but has fallen from 43 to 62 in top 500 brands. Corona in third place has risen 53% in brand value.

Of the top 500 brands there was only one spirit on the list that came in 16th place for most valuable beverage. That spirit is Smirnoff! Yuck, I am a vodka drinker I have to admit that is my least favorite vodka. Headache city! Give me Kettle One and I am a happy camper!

What is your favorite beer and spririt?

    Lips

  • I don't drink beer too much, but on a hot summer day, I could throw down a few icy cold Miller Lites.

But above all, I love me my Captain Morgan.
    Vodka- Gray Goose

And for a quick buzz....I have my Jagermeister(mmmm...tastes like Nyquil)

  • Ac i love Grey Goose too....thats ton's new addiction! Its so smooth yet for me i don't get the buzz like i do on Kettle One. Seems the better the liquor the tuffer the buzz.

    Lips
  • Exactly..smooth!

It's a little expensive...BUT...let metell you, Last summer, my husband & I were in the liquor store looking to buy a bottle of goose...the salesman there came over, started talking to us, and recommended "Pinnacle" (its in a light blue bottle. He told us that Gray Goose makes it, and it's sooooo much cheaper. He also said in alot of bars, when  someone orders a gray goose, they often serve Pinnacle- since it's nearly the  same formula.
So we bought it, and OMG. It's sooo smooth, and I don't get a headache the next day!
If you haven't already, you have to try it in place of Goose.
    wink

  • It's about time you joined the wonderful world of vodka ton! I always heard that you can't smell vodka on your breath either. Not sure if that's and old wives tale or not.

    Lips
  • No beer for me...they all taste yuck!!! too bitter and smells stink!!!eeeeeeekkkkkkkkk!!! beside they give you that pop up belly. tongue tongue tongue

  • Lips, whenever you come to Germany, consider yourself invited.

I have here in the Rhine area a cool place (Hotel Lux, styled in the looks of 1930s soviet Moscow) where they have about 60 vodka brands. Not counting self distilled stuff from Russia.

Best drink and brand vodka is Sibirskoje. So smooth you don´t even realize there is alcohol in there.

And as for beer: The best beer in the world is Harp Lager, the lager beer from Guinness. And this voting comes from Germany!

In bottles it is okay but the real stuff is like always on tap. Ask in your local Irish Pub about it.

  • Beer: Miller Black Label, Bud, Fosters (Not very often, but it's good) and if need be Coors.

Hard alcohol Jeagermeister...Rum 151 (Clear type and placed in freezer) and then a collins mix. (Gin MUST be ice cold)

  • ok- Only vodka and when I have some extra cash -My favorite-Belvedere!!!

    Rokko,

Thanks for the warm invitation! If i ever make it to Germany i certainly will look you up. I know we don't have Sibirskoje here but we do have Harp Lager on tap in the Irish pubs! I will make a toast on St. Patricks day to you!

Remember if you ever get to the US the invitation is open as well.

  • Failte!

St. Patrick´s day is also very cool over here (if you can remember anything).

  • Does anyone remember quarter beer and 50 cent(hard liquor) drink nights? We use to go out all the time and spend about 2 dollars! The good old days! I for one had a great time in my 20's! Back then the legal drinking age was 18-LOL tongue

  • And now for something completely scientific:

  • My irish eyes are smiling with that pic!!!!

    Lips
  • Well Lips,

the post is not about the picture wink

    And to get it clear:
    I look better.
I don´t need fancy dresses to drink beer and
I drink real beer (bavarian beer only makes go to the toilet.

Real German (Düsseldorf) beer looks like this:

What do you think of a St. Patrick´s day picture day special (I usually end up fancy dressed)?

Might get us some laughs on the 18th.

    rokko

  • This is what i will be drinking Rokko on St. Pattys! Put on them fancy threads would love to see ya with a cold one in your hand and a gleam in your eye!!

OMG...Fosters..is that beer?  I remember drinking HUGE cans of that waaaaaaaaaaay back when I was about 16-17...no clue what it tasted like, but I remember the cans.  They were about a foot tall.

i drank a lot of green beers in my day, but i have to say yours looks much better.  do you drink it warm?

  • Define "nightmare": warm beer!

  • Warm beer is the irish way!!! Some things i just can't do......i'm lucky to chug down cold beer mustless a warm one!!

But after a few brewskies..........none of us really care anymore.....just keep em coming!!

    Lips
  • Lips,

I have been to Ireland when they sold cigarettes in 5-pieces packs and had street-markets for second-hand-shoes in Dublin.

But they never ever gave me warm beer!

    This must a myth!

  • *second-hand-shoes

    Where is the bloody modify-button?

  • ROFLMAOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!! I aint tellin he he he!!!

Well Rokko my german friend, I have cousins from Ireland. Belfast to be exact. They came to visit a few years ago to the US. And they preferred room temperature beer.

One thing for sure is they lived up to the Irish drinking myth!! Tell ya a cute story......

We had went to dinner with my 2 cousins when they arrived. There was a party of four total. When the server came to the table I ordered a pitcher of beer. The server was about to walk away thinking the order was complete when my cousin called her back.

She returns and he says........" can i get a pitcher too" when my other cousin says......" i want a pitcher too please"!! The server looked at them in amazement as they ordered their pitcher in their irish brogue!!

Needless to say they ordered 3 pitchers each before we left the restaurant that night! This is one myth that is true.........the Irish my friend can drink!!

How much vodka can i drink........well maybe i will save that story for another time!!

    Lips
  • I will give you my vodka story:-)

Studied east european history and went with my university back then in 1990 to (then) Leningrad.

My usual stuff is and has always been beer but at that time the best we could do to get a beer in Soviet Russia was to drive to Moscow (illegaly; but that´s another story).

So all there was was cognac (some kind of russian brandy) and of course vodka.
That you could get with every taxi driver.

    What a fun!!!

All I have to say is: If you have never been to a marriage party in a soviet army special hotel, live still has some surprises for you.

  • And to name numbers: With the proper food I can do 3 bottles (0,5l) easily.

    Now, where is the modify-button?

  • *second-hand-shoes

    Where is the bloody modify-button?

    YES!!!!!!!!!!!!

where is that modify button???  i thought it was only me that couldnt find it.  i use that all the time...what's up with that???
  • The modify button went to heaven. Spell check and preview before you post!

ps rokko i will modify your word for ya!

    Lips
  • Three bottles rokko!! Are you sure your not Irish? I don't drink vodka straight. I use vodka in my martinis. On a good day and if i ate i can put away hmmmmm 6-7!

The most shots i ever did in one night was at a pub. I was drinking my vodka cranberry and a couple guys i knew at the bar were ordering shots all night long. After about the third shot it was becoming a game to order a a new and different shot each time. All in all i had about 10 shots. Now im not talkin cutesy shots. Im talkin Petron, Southern comfort, Jack Daniels, Kettle One, Jameson, Sambuca and the list goes on!

I thought i was just find and dandy til i stood up. I was wandering if they had added a floor that revolved!! hahahahahahah It's a good thing i had friends there that drove me home. When i walked in the house i was swaying from one side of the room to the to the other.

Needless to say i prayed to God for the room to quit spinning and vowed i would never drink again.............til the following week...wink!!

sometimes i have an afterthought, or my words don't always come out right the first time, when i am thinking too fast.  i cannot readiing it over right away doesnt pick it up

  • Three bottles rokko!!
    Lips

    It´s a matter of technique.
First, you need to eat all the time russian food like fish in oil (oil is always good, makes you invulnerable for alcohol).
Second, only straight. Mixing up up things gives only headaches. Alcohol and real life wise.
    Third, don´t shoot, nip.
  • Thanks for the tip!!! I will be eatin alot of fish in oil on St. Pattys day!! Oh and nipping too!

    Lips
  • Fish in oil, Lips, the oil makes you invulnerable. The magic is oil, not fish.
    Life tested and proven.
WAnt to know something realy scary?
In my supermarket they are selling Kilkenny.
    IN PLASTIC BOTTLES.

    DISGUSTING!

  • I love Vodka.. and all the things you can mix it with, everything you do it just tastes GREAT.. cheesy

But the problem with Vodka for me is.. as long as im sitting i'm fine, at least i think i am.. as soon as i stand up, i'm asking "where did this floor come from?" out of no where wham.. just comes up and smacks me sad

Beer.. Michelob Lite is my only favorite, i tend to stay away i don't like beer, i get the worst hangovers from it.. i can handle anything in beers but Bud and Coors

    LOL...this is my Raki problem!!!

As for vodka, keep it pure, keep on eating and you are safe. Also on next morning.
  • Ok Rokko and Imagin........a pre St. Patty's  day toast!!!! Cheers!

  • Cheers to you too, sweety!

What kind of stuff is this? Ketel - where does it come?

But brings me to a cool idea. Remeber K-Tel teleshopping?

They should do it for booze!

"Seansational! Incredible! Call within the next five minutes and receive a second bottle absolutely for free.
Do sommething good for your your friends and family and call now!"

I would call...maybe even twice cheesy

  • Its from Holland. Dates way back to 1600's. Its great as a shot or a mixer. I know at least in my city it is one of the most popular vodka's at the pubs.

I like the buzz from this one. Does it seem like certain vodkas give you certain buzz's from others or is it just me?

    Lips
  • Thanks for the Cheers Lips..  I was... "Monage Do Twahn' " with evrything is sight.. thats Irish/french/vivilingo for.. whooooa nilly!!!

  • Lips, what is the meaning of "buzz"? Can´t find a translation.

  • Rokko,

    Betrunken!!!!!! Cheers!

Rokko.. it's a haircut cheesy cheesy cheesy

    Betrunken!!!!!! Cheers!

Dear, Betrunken (=pissed), I got out ouf connotation.

There are several levels: tipsy, merry and pissed. Where does "buzz" fit?
  • BTW: Just googled for Ketel and learned that my beloved Sibirskoje is not availalble in any online store around. Even checked the original export/import page. Nothing or in this case: nichevo.

Must have rebranded the stuff. What a shame!

Good side of it: Now I don´t only have a gambling forum, I also got a vodka forum.

But they don´t have a free shots section. Will complain to the admin!

  • Tipsy tipsy tipsy!!!!! Hiccup......he he he!
