  • I was thinking about trying to work another job.I am really wanting to go on an extended vacation and my old job said i could come back.It would only be on the weekends but i made killer money. My mind is ready but can i get my body to follow huh

  • That can be tricky, trying to work when you just don't really know if you can physically go back to doing your job.  I'd say if you think you can, you can, Rena.  Or, at least, you should try.  Even one weekend's worth of killer money is a good thing.

You may find you can't manage it, but you also may find that you had nothing to worry about after all.  Your extended vacation can wait for you while you enjoy the financial boost.

Best of luck in whatever decision you make.

  • I also think you should try it especially if you feel ready for it. You have nothing to lose so give it a go.

  • I actually went through this a few years ago and it didn't end well.  I hadn't actually contemplated at the time that it would not work out, so I wasn't prepared for how bad I felt about my 'failure'.  Psychologically, it was a blow.

But I am glad that I tried, and I absolutely enjoyed the big paychecks I was getting while trying.

I'd just suggest not to dwell on negativity if you do go for it and it doesn't work out as well as you hoped.  If you can't do it physically, you can't and if you don't try you won't know if you could or couldn't.  Go for it.  IMHO.

  • i left my old job on good terms with my employer.Shes battling her second bout of breast cancer. She understands how hard it is when your sick. The problem is i really like my job (im a maid). My current employer is a god send and i am able to do as i please after 20 years of service including drive the cars(yes i started work there when i was 17).I even get into screaming matches with his wife (who i secretly adore)and have been fired by her and rehired by him more times then i can count. When i was in the hospital they paid all my expenses also hired someone to look after the kids.I am treated well and paid well but i want to be able to take that trip to Disney world with my kids.I could ask if they would help but my pride wont let me.I have always worked for what i want.Im already feeling bad about the fact that they took care of me financially when i couldnt work for 3 months.
I wish i knew what to do frown

  • Perhaps try weighing up the benefits of where you are and the possible "short term" benefits of the other job.  Write down all the pros and cons for each and take it from there.

You know the saying....better the devil you know!

I have a question - would you be able to do both for a short while just to give you a good idea of what's what?

  • Great advice blue. Follow your instincts rena it can be your best guide. No one knows better than you what you are ready to handle or what will make you the happiest. Decisions like this can be so tough that's for sure. Take some quiet time and reflect on it and you'll make the right decisions i'm sure.

Btw what a wonderful good hearted boss. There is definitely angels among us.

  • If you can't do both jobs at the same time I'd stick to the current one, loyalty is something that I admire.

If you can do both, then go for it!

  • Rena, since I have known you here in the forum family, you have shown great wisdom. You know your health and you definitely know your mind. You will make a good decision when all is said and done. Trust yourself and take care of your health.

  • Rena I was extremely fortunate last year, for my graduation gift my Dad gave me $ to take my husband and daughter (4 yrs) to Disneyworld for a week.  Do your research, there are some things that you can save on (hotel, travel) and some things you cannot (princess breakfast and autographs), but it can be done for less than the average family probably does it for.

With that being said, the physical pain that you may endure will be NOTHING compared to labor, and totally worth it when you see your babies hugging those princesses and walking around the Magical Kingdom in their princess dresses.  (Rose was Tiana, lol.)  Trust me, your temporary pain will be worth it in the long run, it almost always is.

PS Don't buy the meal plan or the park hopper.  Get one park a day tickets.  No way will you be going to more than one a day and the food is a RIP-OFF!  smiley

  • Hey Rena - what did you decide to do in the end?
