OMG....loved these books more than the Twilight Series.  I kinda don't want to see the movies because I cried during the books and I know I will cry if I watch.  Great books

My kids read The Hunger Games series.  We all saw the movie and I thought it was good.  A bit 'out there' for me as I had no idea what it was about.

My daughter read the first Twilight book and hated it.  She made herself get through it since everyone said how great it was.  To her, it was very 'stalkerish'.  None of us bothered with the movie.

Twilight seems so tween-agey,  THG has a bit more depth, I think.

my daughter of 10 wanted to read this book and see the movie but i said "not"    any thoughts on the age appropriateness of this??  if it is about killing and stupid crap,  i would rather watch the "killing fields" movie with her and at least teach her about real death and genocide.  but...she watches POkemon and some of those battles are about as bad

Dabig, basically it is a future America that is divided into 13 districts, with 13 having thought to be destroyed in the war.  From the remaining 12 districts 2 children are drawn each year to compete to the death in The Hunger Games.  It told from the main characters POV.  There is no sex or cussing, but a bunch of killing.
