        Or are you environmentally kind?

I'm that person that has all the cig, gum and candy wrappers and receipts papers stuffed in my purse, empty potato chip bags, piles of tissue, empty water bottles and soda cups stuffed into my backpack (ill reuse some things here) but mainly til I find a trashcan or recycling bin to put them in, ever went to unwrap your cigs plastic and foil or candy, or are reading newpaper ads in the wind it blows out of your hand and you chase it down for miles? Yup that's me. Electricity, water and gas are you saver conscience? Is every light on in the house, do you turn off the lights and use candles to read, BBQ sometimes instead of cook with electric or gas stove, turn off water inbetween shampooing and condition hair, while brushing teeth? Do you walk or drive that car to go 2 blocks? On a scale of say 1 to 10 im probably about a 7. Theres a few things i'm weak with that's saving water, and I can't break the habit of having the TV on while I sleep, I feel guilty too.. I just read scientist says aside from all we are doing to change things and our unkind habits we have failed, he said "the time to do something was yesterday" "every single switch of the light sends emissions in the air" emissions in our atmosphere and from fossil fuel buring is at its all time highest in millions of years, means drastic weather changes and higher sea levels, basically admitting theres nothing we can do now, but emphasized to keep doing what we can do to help, China and America are our highest consumers.

I was on my outside sitting at our break table at work, this grown man with a family has a hamburger he takes his last bite, wipes his mouth wads the paper and drops it on the ground, five feet front the trashcan, his young children following with a slow trot, look down on the wrapper as they walk by like its a decoration, right there is part of the problem, the "Example" what is set in that childs mind, and not only from that but from us and every country..I read a while back that Brazil has a water shortage, to advertise their water saving they started a campaign to "pee while showering" to reduce the flush, theres ads with the whole family showering together and doing this.. the ads are like cute and funny but serious on the issue, my first thoughts were omg, I hope we never get to that point, but it could happen, here in Nevada we do water reclaimation, every ounce of water is reclaimed and ran through processes to be reused, just thinking about this process makes me ill. It does scare me the thought that... yes we could run out, run out of everything.. fresh water, our fresh air, fossil fuel, rich clean soil, our own earths natural resources that humans survive on, how tramatic it would be to go back to stone age, the cavemen looking and laughing at us right now with their own phrase, so easy a human can do it!

My question to every one is do you preserve and help save our planet, if you do what do you do and do you have any tips on reserving? Do you feel good about it, or do you feel as though it's all useless?

I do try my best... I don't even step on a grass in parks.

Here we still don't have enough recycling containers, even in the capital city; so in my mind that should be one of the priorities of our municipal; education and raising awareness about these problems.

Same problem here, fairly poor infrastructure for recycling.

Here they have us separate, glass, plastic, tin cans and paper, each house has its own stackable recycle bins, its picked up separately from trash day every two weeks... aluminum cans are worth a lot of money in California, some people drive here collect cans then go back to California to redeem them, out here they are worth almost nothing so no one really saves them

I try to be conscience of what I do but I'm afraid I'm still a waste-a-roo. I waste energy like leaving the TV on all the time and brushing my teeth with the water still on. Not so much a litter bug though.

I hear ya, we can be fined for littering, even flicking a cig butt out the window of a car on the highway, On the strip they pass out these flyers for escorts and shows, when the task force starts showing itself the people that are handing them out scatter and hide, on a busy weekend after it dies down, omg the strip is so cluttered with them, looks like it rained down flyers!

I think the casinos pay a certain fee for clean up, so the sweepers and trash people come and clean up, one time I saw a pile of that clutter from the flyers it was the size of a small car

I try my best to conserve, but I have to admit I don't always do all I can. It's interesting that you mention the story of the father and how his children follow his example. I remember watching Sesame Street as a kid and there was one particular episode about turning the water off as you brush your teeth. They showed on the other side of the wall a fish with the water draining as "we" brush and it stuck with me. I always to this day turn the water off; I think it is important to instill the little things like that to our children that will make all the difference.

Sesame Street taught me a lot too. I was watching that and Transformers. Better that I learned from ss than from Transformers.

I do really care about the planet but sometimes it seems so overwhelming that i feel defeated before i get started if that makes sense. I use to always by Styrofoam cups for parties and just to have in the house for a quick drink of water from the faucet but after learning it is non-biodegradable and lasts for eons i won't buy them anymore.

At the grocery store i always ask for paper bags instead of plastic and small things like that. I fret mostly about global warming and the extinction of animals on our planet.

I worry about the animals too. There have been some eye opening programs on television about it. I recycle religiously and I've even considered getting solar panels installed on my roof to save energy.
