  • Hiya Guys and Dolls,

I just returned from a nice get away to Sin City and had a blast. I didn't have any luck but i sure did have a good time. The temperature was in the 80's everyday and we laid out by the pool sipping fancy cocktails and gambled the strip by night!

I have not been in about 4 years so i was long overdue but one thing i did notice this time was the number of kids there. I wanted to ask members opinions on how they feel about kids at the casinos in Las Vegas.

I personally thought it took away from the atmosphere. There was crying babies, strollers and kids running through the casinos late at night. I know Vegas has tried to create a more family atmosphere but all i can say is "what were they thinking"?

First of all a parent would have to stay with the children at all times which means no gambling. No gambling?? Then why go there at all. Take your youngins to Disney World instead.

I was talking to one women on the plane on the way back and she brought up the kid epidemic while she was there and she was a smoker. She said that while she was at the pool at Caesars she lit up and a man came up to her and said " i know this is Vegas but you need to die out your cigarette because my son has asthma". I say then why then why the hell you bring your son there at all. Every casino there allows smoking and if you have that many concerns then he should not of brought him there.

This woman was on her Honeymoon and she said they especially picked Vegas for a more adult atmosphere. We went to eat at the buffet at Paris for dinner and this family sits across from us and the server was fuming. The kids ran all over the place and took all the place settings she had just set up.

What are your feelings on bring kids to Vegas?

  • Welcome Back!  So glad you had a great time and yes... I'm sooo jealous (but in a good way wink )

I, too, never understood why people would choose Las Vegas to bring a child or for a family vacation.  When my husband and me go, sans kids, I have thought, oh how fun it would be to bring my youngster where I could say "Look at all these really great hotels, arent' they so cool?, enjoy the outside cuz you're not allowed to go in."  8p

Then I would add to my kids..."Don't take any flyers from people on the street. Avert your eyes.... Run!"  tongue

  • Welcome back Lips!

Ok, the booze is flowing... the smoking light is on... the party is in high gear 24/7... the crowds are gambling, loud, and things get wild... half clothed women on every front...

Enter stage left, family with 3 or 4, unruly, undisciplined, asthmatic children and 2 very selfish parents...

Are all of the people who came here to let their hair down and enjoy this atmosphere to now stop in their tracks because children are present? NO!

If you don't want your children exposed to any of these things, take them somewhere age appropriate and leave the party alone!

  • Welcome back lips, glad you had a great time smiley

  • Welcome back Lips.  Sounds like you had a great time and I have to admit that I'm a little green.  I've never been to Vegas but it is on my bucket list!

I don't think young children should go there - what on earth is there for them to do there?  I thought it was supposed to be the ultimate adult getaway too; obviously not any more.

  • Hey lips, glad to hear you had great time. Its good to have you back cheesy

  • Welcome back lips, i am a bit jealous, was supposed to go there 3 years ago, but couldn't cause my wife was pregnant, and now were waiting until the kids are old enough to go....................lol, so that will be another 15 years at least.........

Maybe i will go with a buddy of mine one day................

    Johan

  • Welcome back Lips, it's great to see you back in action here and also nice to hear that you had a good time there.

  • Welcome back and glad to hear that you had a good time. Now, as far as the kids. No, No, No, No and NO. I can't imagine why parents would think that Vegas is a place for kids. I'm surprised that it's taken that turn. Did you say kids were running through the casinos? What?!?

  • Yes kids can walk freely through the casinos in Vegas. I know at least in my home state that is strictly taboo and they are ushered out of the casino in a heart beat. I don't think the can sit and watch mom and dad play but the can walk all over the casinos.

I easily smile and this sentence made me smiley
  • Lips,it's good to see you back and that you had a blast in Vegas exclamation thumbs_up party

As far as bringing kids there...no way!! A family environrment,NOT!! tongue

  • Hi Lips, welcome back.. I know that there is a hotel ( Circus Circus ) that is mainly for family's, they have arcades and stuff for kids. I have been to Vegas a million times and i know that the casinos do not allow anyone under 21 to be near the slots and tables, i definetly would have complained. As for parents who bring there kids with them, thats just not right, no one gets to have any fun.

  • Lips, welcome back, and yes, I agree. Babies and Vegas are a bad mix. I remember the time my Mother and I took my neice on a vacation and when asked about her walking through the casino (Reno) they said "Make sure you are headed either to the resturant, bathroom or EXIT"

  • Back from Vegas? why didn't you tell me lol, both Lips and I roaming around this city, looking for adventure and big wins!

Glad you had a good time!

Yeah, this kids thing is a little too much.. there are many other casinos that have alot of things for kids to do, maybe they should restrict some off the strip, i've been up and down the strip many times and it really is no place for kids, sitting there trying to have a good time gambling, drinking and smoking and in the background you are hearing a crying baby, or a whining child..the beach, the lakes, chuck e cheese.. disneyland or whatever it's expected and but in a casino? and as far as smoking.. whats next the alcohol? Smoking, gambling and drinking just go together even if you don't!.. I know it's kind of rude to light up around a non-smoker just as it is to ask a smoker to stop smoking in as moking environment..it's a no win situtaion.. although it is left up to your own choice to put that cig out or as a non smoker to just go some where else

  •             Hey Lips, I'm soo jealous.  I tell my wife my next wedding is gonna' be in Vegas.  (She really gets pissed when I say that. Hilarity ensues!)  Anyhow,  definitely NOT a place for the kids.  I was last there in 1996.  Had a good time but it's just not appropriate for kids under 21.    There are too many bad things legal and otherwise that they don't need to be around.  It should be reserved, I think for adults.  Leave 'em with the in-laws.

  • seriously the guy wants you to put your cigarette out cause his kid has asthma but he brings him to Vegas the smoking capital of the world..what a jerk.  I live here and I am soooo against kids in casinos-Vegas tried the kid friendly thing for a few years and they lost money so they are going back to the no kid thing but that wil take time...nothing annoys me more than seeing kids in a smoke filled casino-it is selfish to bring your kids in that enviroment..most of the casinos have a no smoking area for gamblers but they are usually very small areas..the reality is whether you like it or not is anything and everything goes in vegas - no rules..smoking drinking gambling..etc..I brought my kid to vegas when she was 16 and we shopped most of the time (she was attending a volleyball thing at UNLV)..it's no Disney that's for sure..lol..Glad you had fun!!
