There is a campaign to ban the venerable food establishment icon because children tend to choose the unhealthy food choices once they're in the restaurant.  Is this right?

The children may choose unhealthy foods but isn't it up to the parents to either not bring them their in the first place or just say no and tell the child what they can choose from? If they try to throw a tantrum to get what they want leave the restaurant. May be I'm just really lucky but on the occasion we do go to McDonald's my kids usually choose juice to drink and apple slices for the desert part in their happy meals. They also love the chicken snack wraps over the burgers. Plus they know they have 1 minute to make up their minds or I will do it for them. In the end it isn't Ronald McDonald forcing the kids to make bad choices it's the parents not instilling the knowledge of the right choices in their kids.

After all these years - they decide now to think about banning Ronald?

Unbelievable.  Whoever it is, needs to get a grip.  It is indeed down to the parents at the end of the day.  What a load of old tosh.

I loved McDonald's as a kid and still do. It has nothing to do with Ronald McDonald at all. It's the delicious cheese burgers and fries. The milk shakes aren't bad either. The clown didn't make me do it. It's silly. Unless they are going to ban advertisements for unhealthy foods altogether, which is also silly, back off.

Well they better get rid of those playrooms too! Kids might start equating playing and having fun with eating junk food!
