  • I remember starting the school day standing at attention, with your hand over your heart and saying the Pledge of allegiance.

"I pledge allegiance to the Flag of the United States of America and to the Republic for which it stands, one nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all."
    What happened to that?!

  • I remember...

I think I was six when my mother got a used TV from somewhere which was black and white...with few channels...I saw my Richard Gere for the first time and ever since then I put the chair in front of the mirror and smacked my lips on it, thinking I was kissing him...only wish if I saw Daniel Craig instead... embarrassed

  • This one is a strange childhood memory.  I never found out until I was well into my 20s what it was.

I remember I kept thinking about this green door, a strange shade of green with a burnt bit in the middle.  Everytime I thought about this green door, I meant to ask my Mum what it was.  The only thing was I never thought about the door whilst I was with my Mother.

Many years down the line, I finally thought about this green door when I was with my Mum.  I told her how I had "remembered" it  from somewhere.

She told me that I was about 2 at the time and the "burn mark" was in fact sap that used to come through the green paint.  This was like a shed door to the side of the house where we lived.  How strange that such a small insignificant thing played such a big part of my "memory" for so many years.

I can still picture that green door to this day.

  • When i was little scarey movies back then aren't scarey as they are now.. but me and my little sister were watching this scarey movie. IN this scarey movie there was this eye that peeped through cracks of doors and every time the eye was seen, someone ended up murdered..

Well in our home, we had a sliding door that closed off the hallway, this door slid into the wall, it didn't pivot like a door it slide back and forth.. well as we were watching this movie from the corner of my eyes i see the door opening and closing slowly, in the darkness i can see an eye.. i nudged my sister, .. "look!" i whisper to her.. she sees it and our eyes go like this shocked .. we begin to scream MOMMMM AAAAAHHH MOMMMMM, i had a spatula in my hand and my sister had a fly swatter we are hugging each other in terrified fear, ready to use these weapons.. the door kept doing it.. frozen in our spot.. we screamed louder and louder.. at the top of our lungs, MOMMMMMMMMM.. then my mom jumps out and says BOOO.. we were crying histerically and so mad at her... she felt so badly she didn't how much she scared us.. that stupid scarey movie!  >:(

  • I'm sorry in advance Imagin.ation but LMAOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Ok I don't know if anybody remembers a made for TV movie calle "Trilogy of fear",
it was actually a VERY well made for Tv movie, and it featured the creepy actress Karen Black in 3 separate movies in a movie (hence trilogy) anyway when it first came on in the late 70's I believe, me and my sisters were watching in our kitchen eyes glued to the screen and terrified, well my dad was downstairs in the family room watching it too, plotting. The last story featured a really creepy wooden VooDoo doll that came to life and was hellbent on killing Karen Black, the doll had a chain and a spear and when the chain was broken it came to life and set out to kill anything or anybody in its way.My sister noticed during the movie that my Dad has come into the Kitchen quietly to do something and then went back downstairs closing the door behind him again,we are wrapped up in the story still horrified and thrilled, meanwhile the little monster VooDoo doll is after Karen Black now armed with a long butcher knife from her kitchen, stabbing at her and slashing her legs and fingers, we're screaming at the really scary parts and when the movie ended we just looked at each other like WOW, that was HELLA SCARY!!
Next thing we know we hear this crazy screaming and growling JUST like the VooDoo doll monster at the door going downstairs, then SUDDENLY a knife, a long butcher knife comes from underneath the door and slashes wildly back and forth suddenly the door cracks open and all we see is a small wooden doll that looked like the VooDoo doll lunging at us!! I tell you boy there were three little girls running and screaming bloody murder scrambling and trying to get away from..............OUR SILLY DAD who had grabbed an African statue we had and had come up to swipe a butcher knife and crept up the friggin stairs to scare us, and was he bent over with laughter, I thought he would bust a gut!!  Good times, yeah buddy.

  • I had Hamsters galore, the whole habitrail shabill. Though they were fascinating to watch, cute little things watching them fill their cheeks, running here and there.. That Habitrail cage and the multiplication of Hamsters took over the house. Hamster balls rolling everywhere, tunnels and tubes, skylabs and livingrooms, dens and romantic suites..uuhhggg I remember one Christmas i had a whole buncha presents all different shapes and couldn't wait to open them... Christmas morning finally arrived.. i ran to open my presents.. "ooh another tube.." "wow.. another tunnel" "ooh cool another den" "yes another designer hamster water bottle" MOMMMMMMM i finally say.. the hamsters are getting all the christmas... as i got up.. i tripped and fell over a Hamster ball..

  • LOL...Too funny Imagin.

Christmas eve was when I got to open my presents, and I always got baby dolls.

Diapers, bottles, swing, highchair, I had the entire nursery. I remember when Baby Alive first came out, she would poop in her diaper after you fed her. I loved it.

I guess it was just some early training for me, now I got my real life baby dolls tongue

lmao... thanks for that friggin funny story.
my lethargic hamster had one rusty wheel that it never ran on.  he was always jealous of the hamsters up the street with skydomes and tunnels that led to different orgy dens.

  • DingDongs being wrapped in actual foil.  I love those.

  • The one thing that brough me pleasure back in 1980 was making mudpies with my friend Clay.  Particularly when I tried to eat the pie (thinking it was chocolate).  Considering my trade in cooking I see now it was foreshadowing.

  • monchichis, she-ra, Gem, watching Captain Kangaroo and Mr. Rogers neighborhood

Sorry to announce that Cosmo Allegretti, the man who was Captain Kangaroo, has passed away.  He was 86.

I would love to see videos from the series.  Must go search for some.  I love to get to see my childhood memories now with a different perspective.

watch out for ping pong balls - goodbye, Captain Kangaroo.
  • I loved garbage pail kids! I also was big fan of Care Bears!

  • A lot of people keep telling me about Bananas in Pajamas.  I had bought a toy at a garage sale and I guess it was a Bananas in Pajamas toy.  My daughter went nuts over it (she's 22), but I never saw it and have no clue what all the fuss is about.

I remember the day that The Munsters previewed.  I was SO very upset; we had to go out to dinner and I had to miss it.  I refused to eat anything.  It was pretty funny looking back on it - I was a pretty hefty little girl and nobody believed I would not eat something at the restaurant.  But I stood my ground.  How dare they!

I also remember the contest for naming the baby on the Flintstones.  Pebbles won out, of course.

And I was about maybe 5 or 6 years old and was trying to kiss Bill Bixby through the TV (on My Favorite Martian), when the TV fell down on top of me!  How embarrassing!  I never told my mom how that managed to come about but was glad she rescued me.

  • Omg, I completely forgot about bananas in pajamas! I must have read that book a million times!

  • i love this thread. it makes me feel like im a child again. cheesy

  • Goodness! I had Garbage Pail Kids stickers all over the side of my dresser in my room when I was little. I loved those nasty little things.
