    And possibly "Hallelujah!  Hallelujah!"

  • Why did Mary and Joseph travel to Bethlehem?

    Luke 2:3

"and all went to be taxed, every one into his own city."

So my answer is they went to pay their taxes.

  • Ooopps...forgot to add my question.. grin

Name this song-"God and sinners reconciled"  tongue

  • Hark!  The Herald Angels Sing

The editorial "Yes, Virginia, There Is a Santa Claus" was first published in which New York City newspaper?

  • NOPE.....The angels don't sing anything.  (No where in the Bible do angels "sing.")

  • ok, so we are having trick questions?  I think any angelic voice would sound like singing to us mere mortals.

Anyway, that was a good one.
Maybe I should ask "Does Santa still beats his wife?"  laugh_out_loud

  • Hark!  The Herald Angels Sing

The editorial "Yes, Virginia, There Is a Santa Claus" was first published in which New York City newspaper?

so sorry i answered this..i did not know it was a game you all were playing i just saw the question and answered it...unfortunally i dont know a christmas trivia question to ask...so sorry
  • uhm, well, it was the New York Sun.

Does Santa still beat his wife?  Just Kidding!!!!

"In what year was the first Whitehouse Christmas Tree, and who was the US President during that year?"

  • wtf?..lmao.....

  • roflmHao

...just answer the question, dtsweet!  laugh_out_loud

when did the whitehouse have it's first christmas tree?  who was president that year

that's the real question.  The other one is just... a trick Christmas question, because, well...scroll up far enough and you'll get it...

  • hell, like I'd know...I'm not American

  • I had just about come to that conclusion on my own, even though you threw me off with "New York City Time" posts, but you can still google...  and if you google christmas trivia you might get some ideas to give us your own question!  I encourage you to do so!  laugh_out_loud

Sorry us Yanks always forget we share the world with other people.  hahah

i know google was an option but just didnt FEEL LIKE IT
  • lol, I didnt make any New York city posts

  • I didn't google when I answered the angels singing question, and got burned, so to speak.  In the spirit of the season, I think the point is to learn some fun facts while exploring the meaning of Christmas Spirit.  So I think googling is probably okay as long as you learned something from the experience.  But I understand not feeling like using it!

dtsweet, I think maybe you did, I may not have explained it right.  Weren't you waiting for the finance department to open and in figuring out when, mention New York time?  Forgive me if I'm wrong; my AADD has a touch of senile to contend with!

I'll answer the question, and I'll have to say, on second google, I came up with the correct answer.  First time, I got the second one listed below, so I would have been wrong!

Pierce's 1856 Christmas tree in the White House was put up for the enjoyment of the Sunday School students from the New York Avenue Presbyterian Church in Washington.

The first Christmas tree put up for the joy of a president's immediate family was in 1889 during the administration of Benjamin Harrison

Someone else have a trivia question?

  • Sorry us Yanks always forget we share the world with other people.  hahah

Your kidding right? I know as a US citizen i hope i am never judged to be that closed minded to the world.
  • well, err... yes, ergo the hahah.

While Americans do in general come off as wanting everyone to be like us, we have come around to a more diverse and brotherly view of other cultures and countries and people.  It is, after, all, what we were founded upon- all men are created equal.

There are some of us, though, with a more closed mind than that.  And I was poking fun at our shortcomings in that regard.  I think I'm ruining Christmas Trivia.  I'm a bit off today, so, please forgive me.

I'd like to teach the world to sing...in perfect harmony... here's an easy trivia question.  "what large furry white animal is often featured in Coca-Cola's Christmastime commercials?"

  • It is a polar bear I think????

  • heres a trivia question, who sings that song, that chilly mellow posted. the coca cola jingle? no googleing now, peeps. lol

  • Hmmmmmm i didn't even remember there was a song. I want to cheat so bad but i won't!!

    Lips
  • The one I remember most there were a whole lot of people from a whole lot of cultures, on a mountain top.  I think the name of the song is "its the real thing"  LOL  probably wrong about that.  I am going to google, but mostly because it's killing me I can't remember all of the lyrics!

    PS

OMG you guys have just GOT to Google it!  There are several that say "the original" but there are SO MANY clips on youtube and they are sooo fun, creative, and beautiful!  I picked a good one.  And I couldn't begin to say who sang the song but that was awesome!

  • and the answer is, THE SEEKERS. other hits include, GEORGY GIRL, I KNOW I'LL NEVER FIND ANOTHER YOU, A WORLD OF OUR OWN. One of the most under-rated groups of the 60's-70's, and by far, one of the best sounding. Dog gone, there I go, showing my age again, lol

  • Hey, there, Georgy Girl!  why do all the boys just pass you by?

ricorizzo, give us a trivia question!!!

  • chilly, just chk'd your profile, dog gone, we are the same age. I'm a bit older, lol. oh well. have any other questions bout the music of that era? oopps, wrong thread.

  • there are a few of us out there in that same group- Helwin is one of them.

Since you haven't got a Christmas trivia question, and want one about music, and mentioned the wrong thread thought I'd wrap that all together in a present and here it is:

"Ho Ho Ho" and "Fa La La" are phrases from a couple of Christmas songs.  What one famous song we've all heard uses both phrases but has nothing to do with Christmas???

  • chilly, excellent question, and I'm drawin a blank, a clue please?

  • lol
    rubies and emeralds

let me know if you need another one

  • I can't wait.  here's another one

    ha ha ha

  • little brown jug

  • nope, or, not the one I'm talkin' about.

    Another hint:

    Tornado

  • chilly, this is amazeing. A complete blank. I'll tell ya what, If you name the tune, I'll tell ya the singer, band,  group, etc. Or before you do that, was this a top 40 song, in it's day?

  • I'll put y'all outta your misery.  It's from a famous movie with Judy Garland.  There's a lion, a scarecrow, a tin man, a wizard, some flying monkeys, a dog named Toto, Auntie Em....

now, if I got the lyrics wrong, they've been wrong in my head for 53 years.

  • okay, sorry...  ha ha...  sorry...

I've always been hard of hearing- (not!)

    but it was *this* close!

And it has "Merry" and "Jolly"!

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HEUTE0K3B3o

  • chilly, lol very good, 1939 I believe, n I can't tell ya, if that made the top 40 or not. let me ask you, would you be familiar with the late 50's, early sixties music? some of the best music that has ever been done, in my humble opinion.

  • you mean like Big Girls Don't Cry, Son of a Preacher Man, Stand by Your Man, Popsicle, Purple People Eater, El Paso, Streets of Laredo kinda stuff?  I'm more familiar with later 60's and 1970's music, though.  First record I ever bought was Western Union.  And after that probably Gary Puckett and the Union Gap.  I even bought Sen. Lloyd Dirsksen (sp) doing Brave, Gallant Men, and Snoopy Vs. the Red Baron.  And the album by Leonard Nimoy with Bilbo baggins.

getting back to Christmas Trivia, another easy question-

Who was the voice of the snowman in Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer?
