Okay... i have to tell this to someone, this has bothered me for a long time..
        This is my confession..

One time a long time ago.. i really did see a double rainbow it was in the sky of Las Vegas as i was walking to the 7-11 to buy some cigarettes near my house.. im embarrassed and ashamed to admit..
When i saw it i was so amazed.. I cried.. i really cried like a little baby.. and i did ask.. "what does it mean?" Tears were streaming down my face.. i called my man crying like i was, he asked with high concern what was wrong, he was annoyed because i was crying so hard i couldn't get the words out.. Finally i said.. "I just saw a double rainbow.. what does it mean?" He said to me.. "its was just a rainbow, you're a nutcase with double vision!" and hung up.. i'm not a nutcase, i just got sentimental or something.. i saw it, it was amazing and i still get choked and wonder..what does it mean!!??

         :-[  :(  :-[

        Anyone else got confessions?

Sometimes we see two rainbows at once, what causes this? We have followed the path of a ray of sunlight as it enters and is reflected inside the raindrop. But not all of the energy of the ray escapes the raindrop after it is reflected once. A part of the ray is reflected again and travels along inside the drop to emerge from the drop. The rainbow we normally see is called the primary rainbow and is produced by one internal reflection; the secondary rainbow arises from two internal reflections and the rays exit the drop at an angle of 50 degrees° rather than the 42°degrees for the red primary bow. Blue light emerges at an even larger angle of 53 degrees°. his effect produces a secondary rainbow that has its colors reversed compared to the primary, as illustrated in the drawing, adapted from the Science Universe Series Sight, Light, and Color.
It is possible for light to be reflected more than twice within a raindrop, and one can calculate where the higher order rainbows might be seen; but these are never seen in normal circumstances.

so, it doesnt really mean anything; its just a phenonenm; not common, but not unusual

Wow Dtsweet, that was amazing in itself to read, thanks for that wonderful explaination, i do beleive it is rare to see them, you have to be at the right place right time, they only last a moment.. so true that not common but not unusual, seeing such a phenomenon so big, so beautiful, bright with perfection in the skies.. will bring a little choke in your throat..

I've seen many double rainbows, but what blew me away was the one that was entirely RED.

        No kidding.
