  • Darn, it costs too much to see a Dentist.  I have two teeths need to be fixed.  One of them cost $650 that I got it fixed today, the other will cost me more than $1k which I will need to win a random jackpot to have it fixed next  grin grin shocked shocked grin grin cheesy .  My school insurance wont cover for this cost.  Sorry, I need to make this thread to vent.

    cool cool cool

  • I totally agree with you.

You dentists should be ashamed of yourself for charging so much!  Its not like the ADA or the profession is not making a fortune already.

  • Anyone finding that dentists have now added sales to their list of qualifications?  It's terrible how they are trying to sell you things you don't need or want. Dental procedures are not like buying a car!

I switched because I didn't like the pressure. He also told me I had cavities that I didn't have. Thank God for procrastination because when I switched, the new dentist said it was a good thing I didn't have those cavities fixed because I have none. Now that's awful!

Have you talked to the first dentist since switching?  Why do you think he told you you had cavities when you don't?  You think he was purposefully telling you lies and being dishonest?  If yes, his license to practice dentistry should be removed.
  • Oh my...Dentists are ridiculous nowadays. Last year my husband had to get a tooth pulled, the guy must have not known how to pull a damn tooth, he split my husbands gum in half, he had to get 9 stitches, it got infected..and when my husband went back to get it treated, the Dentist tried to charge him a $150 convienance fee for a same day appt. shocked

    IMAGINE huh

Needless to say, he didn't pay it, and it's all good now, but what a nightmare this Dentist caused.

I have to get my oldest braces next year, not looking forward to that..

I agree with ish..I can only imagine all the other people he convinced to spend money on unneccessary dental work.

  • It is so true about sales tactics!! I went to the dentist once to get my teeth cleaned and he pushed me big time into getting a whitening treatment for my teeth for $300. He also said he wanted to use me as one of his models at a dental convention after i finished the treatment....yeah right!

The odd thing was before he tried to sell me the whitener he called in a couple of the dental assistances because he couldn't get over how white my teeth were!! So then why would i need to spend $300 for a service i don't need!

Dentists are taught to sell sell sell like never before. Everything from braces to Lumineers.

I told him i will stick with crest white strips at $20 a box!

  • Wow, the dental prices in the States are soooo high! No wonder dental tourism's blooming in Serbia. As my boyfriend's a dentist, I know a little about the industry. And those prices you named are just ridiculous! Those services cost multiple times less in Serbia.

So, surf the net, find an agency that has dental tourism packages, pack your bags and come to Eastern Europe. I bet it's gonna be cheaper, and much more fun! smiley

  • I'm really not surprised about the major costs of denistry in the USA. In fact, what suprises me more, is that many insurance companies are actually agreeing to let the patients go overseas for heart operations and pay for everything (I think except for travel) and they get a nice hotel (Paid) and treatment (Paid) all by the insurance company as they saved BIG money$$ by doing that.

The quality is as good if not better as many of the doctors trained right in the USA and then went back to their homeland to help their countryman. Not like here where it's "Out of my way, I WANT the money$!!!!"

Or you could come here cat with bf and make a killing.....live in a mansion with a pool in the backyard!!
  • Oh, that'd b nice, but I don't think the States accept Serbian diplomas! sad

  • I had a filling put in one time on a tooth that my dentist said had some decay, but what was weird is i never saw any decay.. i was worried and trusted him, went ahead and had it done, paid over 300.00 for the filling, i felt him drill and drill, paste and pack.. all the blah blah.. in 2 weeks it fell out, i had a hole on my tooth that was never there before, i went back and they tried to charge me again. Was this some sort of scam on a patient? Walked out of that dentist went to another paid 90.00 for a filling.. and the dentist at that time told me he found no decay or evidence of any.. That really sucked. Maybe i could of done something about it.. but i didn't
