        Hi Gang:
We have all experienced extremes in temperatures. If you found yourself in a situation where you might die from one extreme or the other which would you choose?

Extreme cold, or extreme hot?  Why?

I heard if you die from cold you just fall asleep eventually, but I hear dying by heat stroke can be painful.  Hmmmm, I dont like ethier choice, but I would choose for myself death by heat.  I simply hate to be cold that much.

Just a silly hypothetical question for todays General discussion.

I guess i would have to say heat, when i get cold i get shaking, shivering and numb feeling in my feeties and fingers

But what is so strange is i love being cold, though i wouldn't want to die in it, i hate being hot.. would choose the heat over cold... lmao

Probably heat if I had to make a choice. I hear frostbite can be extremely painful and I'm sure you'd experience plenty of that before you actually died. I've had situations where I was sure my hands and fingers where in the beginning stages of frostbite and it was very painful.

Heat would probably have it's own issues, like the death part, but maybe it wouldn't  be quite as painful as extreme frostbite.

What about drowning or being burned alive?

Probably drowning would be the best choice there.

Might die?? Tricky question. That means there's a chance for survival

I'd choose heat in that case. If it was hopeless...Cold then, I'd not be worried about frostbite as I'd not be alive to watch them whittle off my toes and such...OUCH!!!

Definitely cold.  I hate heat, and I live in South Carolina now.    But I grew up in upstate NY and love the cold and winter.  I've always felt it's easier to get warm in the cold, than it is to cool down in the heat.

Frostbite doesn't hurt until it starts thawing out - until then, it's numb.  So you get cold, then get numb, then fall asleep.

Maybe the cold would be better then. I do remember the pain setting in when I started to warm my hands up in some hot water. I'd hate to experience that over my whole body.

When i'm hot i just dive into my pool, when i'm cold i have to put on extra clothes, stay by the fireplace, shiver, rub everything, stomp my feet and clap my hands.. too much work!

        I'd rather go swimming

I tolerate hot temps much better than cold ones that's for sure but doc is right-if you're not a sadist freezing to death is a softer way to go.

Given that I would have to die anyway... I would take a cold pool, heat it up with Shakira and Eva Mendez, burn our livers with liters of mojito and eventually take a "mort douce" before deciding wether hot or cold would be better.

        Anyway, it would be fiun...
