  • Last night a local news station did a feature about the Elderly who are constantly solicited by charities. This is especially nasty when the person is mentally unfit for running their own bank accounts.

One ladies Mother basically wiped out her bank account sending checks off to these charities and even worse, to some outfits claiming the SS benefits were about to be stopped or reduced and such.

But for $29.95 or more even, they'd fix the problems!!

The real scare is in 20 years, the amount of elderly will increase opening new doors daily for the scammers...

Be aware and wary there's some real scum out there prowling!
  • Hi Gene,

Makes me so mad when scammers prey on the elderly. Young and old alike there are so many scams out there, we really do need to be aware.

Not to long ago i recieved a $3,000 check in the mail. It was a check from a very reputable bank with my name on it! At first i got very excited thinking i had won something. That was until i read the cover letter in detail.

The scam artist wanted me to deposit the check into my account and wire them the cash. In return i would be compensated for the overseas transfer. Needless to say i called the bank where the check was issued and was told that there was some serious issues with this going on.

I can only imagine how many people got this check and decided to cash it and not forward it. That would be bounce city!!
