  • Haha, I know... I think it was "Soul Kitchen"! tongue

  • Thaaaaaaaat's right!!!!!!  Soul Kitchen - it's a great comedy, really! And it had that particular flavor because it's set in Germany, which many think is a bit stiff, but in reality it's faaaaaaar from any sort of stiffness! Give this movie a chance if you want to watch a light but smart comedy, it's not gonna fail ya! smiley

  • The Uninvited........

Can somebody please explain the end of this movie to me.........been thinking about it for three days now, but can't figure it out.  dizzy  dizzy

  • I've not seen the movie Johan and it seems you are not alone with your confusion.  I did a bit of research and found this: (content from Yahoo Answers)

"Ok so first off, It's all Anna's fault that her mother is dead. She caught her dad having an affair with Rachel, the woman that was taking care of her mother, and she decided to burn the house down. She walks into the small cottage where there's a gas tank downstairs, leaves the lit oil lamp on the counter and fills the bucket used to water flowers. She leaves gas tank leaking accidentally and as her drunk sister alex slams the door the oil lamp falls and breaks. The fire begins traveling toward the gas tank and the mother smells it so she starts ringing her bell. alex, the older daughter goes to see whats wrong, and as she enters the mother's room the small house explodes. Anna soon forgets what happens that night from trauma. She's put in a mental institution and meets Mildred Kemp a woman who tells Anna her stories about the murder she committed. The story is that she cared for a family who's mother was ill and eventually the mother died and she took the mother's pearls. Mildred wanted the husband all to her self, so she heavily sedated the his three children and stabbed hem repeatedly. From this, Anna gets the idea of framing Rachel as Mildred Kemp, since Rachel has pearls just like Mildred. Anna's psychotic, so when she returns home she sees her sister and she believes that her sister is alive, she also subconsciously kills her friend who claims he knows what happens that night. After she kills Rachel she tries explaining to her dad that she and her sister had to kill Rachel because Rachel was trying to kill her and Alex. Her dad then tells her that Alex died in the fire and Anna wakes up. She realizes that she's alone and that Rachel wasn't trying to kill her. Rachel was trying to calm Anna down with medication because she knows Anna is crazy. The medication was not to put Anna to sleep so she can kill her.The syringes were just another key to make the viewer believe that Rachel was a killer. Rachel changed her name becaus e she had a boyfriend that used to beat her. Anna is then put back into the institution and tells her therapist the she did what he told her to do. Then she says, "I finished what I started.""

    Does it help?

  • It totally makes sense now...............

"She's put in a mental institution and meets Mildred Kemp a woman who tells Anna her stories about the murder she committed."

It sounds stupid, but i totally missed this part of the movie, i never understood where this part was coming from, thanks blue, now it is totally clear to me, i get it now.

  • So glad it helped.

I think I need to watch this film now.

    blue

  • My favorite is Inception. I amazed with leonardo super acting..

  • Road to perdition with Tom Hanks

Bonds of loyalty are put to the test when a hitman's son witnesses what his father does for a living.

    Great Movie

  • I loved "Road to Perdition" Johan, it's a great film. Tom Haks is one of my favourite actors while the director, Sam Mendes, had already proven his talent in "American Beauty" before directing "Road to Perdition".

I never got around to watching "Jarhead" and the following two. I hope I will do that soon.

  • I've never seen The Uninvited. It looks pretty good though. I recently went to see The Pact in the theater and I didn't get it. I was expecting something scary and there were moments but overall it didn't make sense.

Some of my favorite movies are Karate Kid (Original Only!), Goodfellas, Girl with the Pearl Earring... I love period pieces. OMG Bridesmaids was seriously hilarious. Every time I see it I still crack up.

  • I never got around to watching "Jarhead" and the following two. I hope I will do that soon.

    what following two johnny?

"Away We Go"  and  "Revolutionary Road". He's currently working on another film, "Skyfall".
  • I watched Revolutionary Road, and I think it's a fantastic movie, I surely recommend it. I think I'm going to watch it today again. smiley

  • "The Silence of the Lambs" Hannibal Lecter is the best!

  • i recently watched the rise of the planet of the apes and it was good thumbs_up

  • That was a good movie rena  thumbs_up

"The Silence of the Lambs" Hannibal Lecter is the best!

He is so creepy but I agree with you. Oh the way he says Clarice.  hysterical

havent seen it but def on my list
  • I saw Revolutionary Road but was kinda depressing for me. I think DiCaprio did a an excellent job in that movie though and has really come a long way. I thought he was awesome in the movie where he portrayed Howard Hughes and didn't get enough notoriety for it, but i can't remember the name of the movie!

One of the most intense tragically romantic films i ever saw was Revenge with Kevin Costner and Anthony Quinn.

    The Aviator

  • One of the most intense tragically romantic films i ever saw was Revenge with Kevin Costner and Anthony Quinn.

Anthony Quinn... Reminds me of Zorba the Greek, one of my favourite movies of all time.

Classic Johnny.....which reminded me of Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels WARNING - contains bad language.
  • Lock Stock and Two Smoking Barrels, fantastic movie, great choice.

  • Killing Zoe

An American vault-cracker ( Zed ) meets up with an old friend ( Eric ) in Paris. Eric and his gang have planned to raid the only bank in the city which is open on Bastille day. Zed is trapped in a situation beyond his control when heroin abuse, poor planning and a call-girl named Zoe all conspire to turn the robbery into a very bloody seige.

  • I like Avatar. The plot is very simple but special effects are great!

  • Lars Von Tirer has great movies and some of them are my favorites, Dancer in the Dark with Bjork and Dogville. His latest, Melancholia is also amazing.

Some people asked me how can I like Dancer in the Dark cheesy , people usually think of it as depressive, at least.

  • True Story  Rescue Dawn

A US Fighter pilot's epic struggle of survival after being shot down on a mission over Laos during the Vietnam War.

  • Haven't seen that one Johan, thanks for the recommendation. I love survival stories.

  • While researching his book In Cold Blood, writer Truman Capote develops a close relationship with convicted murderers Dick Hickock and Perry Smith. (2005)

Truman Capote (Hoffman), during his research for his book In Cold Blood, an account of the murder of a Kansas family, the writer develops a close relationship with Perry Smith, one of the killers. (2006)

I loved the first movie (infamous), tonight i am going to watch the second movie (Capote), i am curious to see what will be the difference between them.

  • Same story, different take.  I look forward to your conclusions.

    blue

  • Maybe because i watched the first movie first, i like it better than the second one.

  • This is one of my favorite movie.

  • A Oldie, but a good one

    Taxi Driver

A mentally unstable Vietnam war veteran works as a nighttime taxi driver in New York City where the perceived decadence and sleaze feeds his urge to violently lash out, attempting to save a teenage prostitute in the process.

  • Great movie! smiley Watched it a few times .

  • Since you mentioned Kubrick, I warmly recommend "Dr. Strangelove or: How I Learned to Stop Worrying and Love the Bomb".

A brilliant film with a brilliant Peter Sellers playing three characters.

  • I know it's not very old, but recently I watched "intouchables" and really loved it, it's great!

  • Yes, I watched Dr. Strangelove, I even have it in my collection. cheesy Excellent movie.

I watched Intouchables, and I agree, it's a great movie. I'm going to watch it again. smiley

  •         Love Dr. Strangelove, Peter Sellers was brilliant in that.  However,  my favorite character had to be Slim Pickens as the B-52 pilot.

  • the exorcist was and still is the scariest movie i ever saw dizzy

  • I think that the exorcist is a great movie, I used to watch horror movies a lot when I was younger. I always considered that Japanese horror movies were the best though. I don't know which one to pick: Dark  Water, for example;

then Japanese (original) version of Ring,

Chakushin Ari (One Missed Call)... and many others.

  • I can see some really great films here! my suggestion is "Julia's eyes" by Guillermo del Toro

  • You are strongly recommended Dr. Strangelove. Yesterday I watched. Amazing. Thank you guys!

jbuijsheeschw, De Niro on Taxi Driver very looks like Maynard James Keenan from the band Tool.

  • good movie, very interesting, I like SAW! haha, very scary movie! cheesy

  • ONG BAK 2

Not a great movie (for me) but sure one of the best final fights i have ever seen.
I you got 15 minutes to spare, watch this......(if you wanna watch the movie then don't)

  • Wow, this guy has some skills and that's a great usage of an elephant in a battle. smiley

But I don't understand, how did he kill that man at the end.... hmm...

  • my all time favorite movie that I have watched 100 times is "The Idolmaker", almost no one has seen it and I just absolutely love everything about it..

  • Powder

  • Lovely movie smiley
