A 50-strong gang of chickens that terrorised residents in Southport has been evicted by Lancashire Police.
The flock, which had been abandoned by their former owner, prowled the streets in a pack and would begin crowing at 0400 BST each morning.

Dawn breaks in Abington Drive and, for a moment, all is quiet.
Suddenly a rustling in the undergrowth breaks the silence. Then a clucking sound. (More like a bwwaaawk! To be precise). Then another. Then another.
By 4am the whole street is alive to the sound of chickens. Chickens in the road…chickens in back gardens… chickens clambering over parked cars and spattering them with chicken poo.
Why did the chickens cross the road? To scavenge for food, make a mess and generally cause a nuisance in Banks, near Southport in Lancashire
We're staging a coop... Whether it is roaming in gardens or clambering on cars the flock has proved a thorough nuisance
