Everybody at one time or another has had a hangover from drinking too much. In the U.S. alone companies lose an estimated $148 billion with employees calling in sick or go to work and mess up their job.

Researchers are looking for cures and here are few:

To prevent a hangover drinks lots of water while drinking. Alcohol is a diuretic and dehydrates the body causing nasty headache.

Drinking fruit juices helps to cure a hangover and replaces carbohydrates.

Before drinking eat something high in fat to coat the stomach and takes longer for alcohol to absorb.

Eating eggs the day after drinking helps replace cysteine, an amino acid, lost from alcohol consumption.

Have you ever had a nasty hangover and swore you would never drink as long as you live! What  cures do you have for a bad hangover?

Just throw up Get it all out and sleep it off.  I can understand eating before you drink because drinking on an empty stomach is a bad idea. Also not drinking until you can't see straight helps

Ok, I actually haven't been drinking much recently. So the information I am giving you is past tense.

Normally I drink 2-3 times a week, but when I drink,  I pound the liquor or Beer when I am drinking.  I do not get many bad hangovers. Here are a few reasons why I think I am ok.

        1)  I stick to one kind of drink, and don't mix alcohol's. If I am drinking beer that night I stick with beer.  If I am drinking vodka, I stick with vodka.

        2) It drinking liquor, be careful of your mixer's.  Too much sugars are know to help give you that headache.  Use diet drinks or mix the drinks strong.  I do use a lot of natural fruit juices, which do have sugar, but they seem to not give me that hangover.

        3)  as mentioned above water helps.  Drink plenty before, drink plenty during and drink plenty afterwards.

Throw up .  If you throw up, you will most definitely have a hangover, as the alcohol is absorbed quickly and already in your system, that is the quickest way to get dehydrated.

Eating definitely helps.  Unfortunately, I don't believe in ruining my buzz so I don't eat when I am drinking.

I also forgot to mention tolerance also.  If you don't drink often, and you do one night drink enough to get drunk, you will most likely have a hangover.

I mentioned above I have not been drinking much , and this past weekend went to a gathering and pounded beer and jaeger shot. I haven't had a hangover that bad in a while.  It was a combo of my tolerance not being there because I haven't been drinking, and the mixing of shots and beer.

Great tips and will remember them the next time i get tipsy! I have not had a bad hangover in a longgg time knock on d. If i have shots with a a drink that is when i get in trouble! Also i can't drink cheap liquor or i get a hangover every time.

Did you ever feel absolutely fine and then when you get up the rooms starts to spin or when you go outside and hit the fresh air it's like omgggggggg i have to cover one eye not to see in triplicate hahahhahaha!

I have always wondered why going outside will trigger the feeling of tipsy!

I've never had problems with hangover and I can't explain that, even when I would get dead drunk. Next morning I would be fresh as a daisy. I actually remember one time that I had hangover; it was terrible and it happened back in high school.

I used to eat before drinking and I've always been drinking a lot of water. And as BMWSTACK said I think it's also about tolerance and how people handle alcohol.

Heh-Heh,  Ooh does this bring back memories---about a hundred years ago when I was in college
I remember making all kinds of strange "promises" if only the pain would go away.  I have maybe a beer or two on most nights and  then feel like going to bed.    It seems nowadays (and for the last few years) I only really turn it loose on Superbowl parties or wedding receptions.    (And no, I am not the drunk relative who has to get up and jam with the band)  Well, maybe sometimes.....Ahem,  but I digress.    This is a great topic Lips and I suppose there are probably as many cures as there are drinkers.    The drinking water really is probably one of the best along with eating and just pacing yourself reasonably.    Now, who wants to be reasonable?  When you do get a hangover,  you're pretty much doing damage and pain control----cause at that point it's kinda' sorta' too late.    You might be able to cure the headache but most times I think you're stuck feeling like crap for the day.

I rarely drink alcohol but I did have a nasty hangover last year after having quite a few drinks with a friend one evening. I just slept it off the next day, it's the best cure I think.

I've made the mistake of not specifying the liquor I want when ordering a drink and getting some cheap vodka. OMG was I sick! I learned my lesson on that years ago. Had a bad experience with tequila that's why it's called te-kill-ya!

I woke up this morning with probably the worst hangover I had in years. I would even say I was still pretty drunk when I woke up. First thing that came to my mind is to go buy a burger, but since I was in no condition to drive, I had to take a walk. I returned home and figured I feel almost cured. My head hurts a bit still but thats it.

So I would say along with drinking a lot of water and eating, taking a walk seems like a good idea.

OMG the dizzy spins, and unshakeable nausea I dreaded the morning after, I found what worked for me was before I took a drink i'd make sure I had a can of chunk pineapples in the fridge, for some odd reason bout a half hour later i'd start feeling better, but i'd have to have someone bring them to me cuz I couldn't even get out of bed, i'd be crawling to the bathroom or kitchen lol, a little bit of the hangover feeling always lasted like 2 days

        Pineapples to the rescue!!!
