How about Mitt Romney?

Mr. Romney is currently tour of the UK, Israel and Poland, an action that was intended to burnish his profile globally, but it has been overshadowed by numerous media reports of his perceived missteps. Here's what he did:

- he declared Jerusalem to be the capital of Israel, even though US policy holds that the city's designation is a matter for negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians.

- he told an audience of Jewish donors that cultural differences explained why Israel's economy was much larger than that of the Palestinians.

- the British media had a field day criticising him on the first leg of his tour in London, when he questioned the country's readiness to host the 2012 Olympic Games.

I don't care much for Obama either but come on, Jerusalem the capital of Israel? Are you kidding me?

Well...Romney has his short comings, that is for sure!

But, his questioning of the Olympics is right on.  The British messed up the security requiring the military to be sent in.  And...have you seen all the empty seats? 

Yeah, the capital of Israel was a bone-head moment.

But...at least Romney has created jobs.  Obama has destroyed them.  The only jobs that have grown under Obama are government jobs.  The Stimulus was a disaster, and where are all the "milions of shovel ready jobs" he promised?

just so i can be the total dumbass american with 20 years of military service to ask the question......SO........what exactly is the capital of israel???  and it has been a while but are the palestinians still associated with Hamas and friends...???  i think it would be really easy to not have any idea what happens over there.....unless you actually are there.....i wish i knew but i gave up trying to understand years ago....i hope romney wins and runs our government as a business and not a fundraising social club....bring on the tissues for the freeloaders

The UN and most countries (including the US as far as I know) recognize Tel Aviv as the capital, not Jerusalem. A wannabe president should have known that.

I agree a would be President should know....but I would still take Romney over Obama any day of the week.

Sure..Romney was a dummy not to know the capital.  But who is the bigger dummy?  I'd say the guy who told us the "stimulus" would create millions of "shovel ready jobs."

And....I know the African Americans in the USA are happy to have a black President.  Very good...America sure is great.  But UNemployment in the black community is at record highs...15 - 20%. 

Obama has been a first rate disaster.  Romney is no prize, but give me Romney over another 4 years of this disasterous President.

  i couldnt agree with you more on anything you have ever said about the current administration Doc,  i hope romney wins and lets the lazy majority feel the pain that they feel the rich and small business owners feel as they are buying them another free lunch.  it is gonna be time to pay the piper and get rid of our current welfare state.  i guess that is why they say  "no pain, no gain"  and they werent talking about implants.  and as a totally non religious person,  i thought he capital of israel was always jeruselum?  i would have made this my final answer so when was tel aviv the capital?  i dont follow middle east politics alot but had never heard of that...

thanks for letting me know as a hard working african american woman whose putting my son through college that i was happy to have a black president when i didnt vote for obama and i just wanted someone in office that would change things for the better.I dont care about race but seeing this post made me realize that it always comes back to one thing,skin color.If the post would have read (some african americans like to see a black president i would have agreed).We are all entitled to our opinion but please dont assume to know what all african americans are thinking.

Rena:  First, it is awesome you work to put your kid in college.  A lot of Americans now expect the government to pay it.

However, it IS worth noting.  Over 90% of African Americans (That is more than your "some.") voted for Obama, yet, African Americans are faring worse than any other demographic under this President.  Unemployment for African Americans is through the roof.  So, it is a fair question to ask this demographic:  Why vote for someone who has record breaking dis-service to you?

I knew I would be sorry to read this thread and I am..it is absolutely shocking to me that anyone can think Romney has even half a clue how to run this country..I am no fan of Obama and it deeply saddens me that this is where we are at, the lesser of 2 evils...but Romney?? seriously..this guy will kill us...with his health care plan..his out of the country job sourcing..his out of the country hiding money..it is an embarrasment that he is the best we could come up with..ugh..it makes me ill to even write about him..

i think that we are HOPING that romney will use some of his business experience to turn the economy around......romney CANT KILL US......we are already floating dead in the water and starting to sink....we can only HOPE he knows CPR....as for him outsourcing, and being rich and successful....it appears he did what he needed to do to rise to the top.....that is what he needs to do for our country.....WHATEVER..it takes, no matter how much it hurts....sometimes you have to cut off the leg to stop the bleeding

Romney revived Staples into a big, growing company that employs 70,000 workers.  Romney's GST Steel Company, was on the verge of bankruptcy and now is the nation's 5th largest, with average salary of $85,000 a year. 

Obama?  He has been a disaster.  What jobs has he created?  Name them, please.

I just feel at some point, Americans have to stop being so lazy and stand up and take their country and their pride back.  The gov't want NO middle class.  Keep 'em poor and sucking the gov't teets and then you won't care what they do as long as your check keeps coming or be rich and be one of the people running the country.  I honestly don't think the founding fathers would have wasted their time if they knew it would turn into this.

Not sure about his position on Jerusalem as I admit I am virtually ignorant on this subject. My first inclination purely from the little I remember from History classes and the "Bible" would be that it should be part of Israel and as such should be the Capital if Israel designates it as such. But....
the recent news will now prompt me to research this matter so that I can actually make an intelligent determination on which position I agree with and base my decision on the facts available to me.

As far as Romney Vs. Obama; Obama had the biggest chance of any recent President to pull this Country together. Especially on racial issues that I see as an "older persons" issue.  Because, the younger generation is definately less prejudice.  I haver always taught my boys that race shouldn't be a basis for determining whether a person is good, intelligent and so on. I don't now or have I ever been predjudice or biased. Are there still stereotypes of groups of people that are used by employers, law enforcement and some of those holding onto past pred.; yes. Unfortunately.  But there is also stereotyping by law enforcement not only of minority but there is age discrimination. Law enforcement targets young adults in my community. Arresting them for things they do not arrest older adults for. This is actually more prominent and noticable than discrimination against a minority.

I sincerely believe that the Obama Administration and the Democratic Black Caucus has done the County an injustice by attempting to divide thCountry by race and income status.  Since, 1974, the year I became eligible to vote and actually began taking an interest in our laws, the Government, inequalities, waste of tax dollars: this Administration has actually made me fearful that instead of our Country continuing toward racial, age and sex equality, we are going backwards. Not in my Community but in Communities across the Nation and in the Media. It is also the first time I fear for my families financial stability and the ability to have the retirement money we have saved when we retire and the ability to remain in our small business of 35+ years.  Romney wouldn't have been my choice as I am more of a quasi liberal/centrist and think Ron Paul better represents the majority, not all, of my views.

But, even Romney will provide more experience and is more of a moderate than Obama whose change was only for the worst.

I think more importantly, to stop the runaway overspending of our money; we need Republicans to take both the House and Senate, then if Obama is re-elected we can stop his costly waste of our money and his use of trial and error.  He has had more failed projects than successful ones, wasted billions if not trillions of dollars on programs that failed and he had the opportunity to work on creating jobs but wasted nearly his first two years working on an finally passing an poorly written Health Care Act that half of the taxpayers/citizens had problems with, atleast in part.
