  • On my daily trip to get my Dunkin Donuts coffee I was asked by the owner Tim if I had been to the casino lately. I smiled and said "yes" as I have been. (See it is no secret I am a frequent guest to the casino and enjoy my time there.) Suddenly a customer pipes in and says "When I go there I only play $20, and if I lose I go home.!"
The owner and I both smiled and nodded our heads politely and I went on my way. Next stop was the local Speedway Gas Station for my daily Instant tickets.  As I was handed my purchase, the clerk says to me.." I am not a big gambler, I only go to the casino to eat and play about $20." The other clerk readily agreed and shared a similar story, about only spending 20 bucks. As I was leaving my thoughts raced to the fact that at two places the people said the same things about their ability to play only a small meesly $20 bucks. huh
I simply do not possess that gene needed to play only $20 bucks and go home.
How do others do that, and how can they so easily avoid the temptation of the casino and it's power.  It makes me chuckle out loud. Now I am not saying I am a compulsive gambler, I do set limits, But $20 bucks?? Whats the point.  huh I can spend that in gas just getting there. shocked

  • $20 bucks??? What the hell!  Unfortunately we don't have any "REAL" casino's in Cali, just the Indian Casion's.  So when I gamble I either fly to Vegas, or drive to Tahoe or Reno.  It costs well over $20 bucks in gas alone.
But I could see if I lived in Vegas my entire life and just wanted to eat a good "Lunch Buffet" droppin a $20 in a slot and calling it a day would be similar to buying a few lottery scratchers, I scratch them where I buy them and go about my business. hehe
  • 20.00 bucks is not even worth your time...sometimes when peeps tell me thats all they spend i think some of them are "fibbin gamblers" Its most likely what they tell their families or spouses what they are spending....but in reality they left a zero off!

  • Oh yea they're lyingggggg tongue

Lips youre right about them leaving a zero off!

  • Loon,

Ain't it the truth loon...they are gonna have to get up bright and early to fool us!!!

  • If people are only spending twenty bucks, what games are they playing? On a 40 line penny video slot I guess you could play one line for one penny, and THAT, might last you a couple of hours. Betting just one credit (.25) at once in a slot machine might last half as long if you really pace yourself. Played reaaaaallllllyyy sllooooowwww.
I think we all get the idea I am getting at here.
Do these people really expect to leave as winners playing like that?? I know it is all about having fun, but we all want to win right along with that.  Starting out playing the way you knew you would lose would be silly. Playing 1  line out of a 40 line game?  I have seen it done, and they never win. BUT...maybe they are having fun. laugh_out_loud          not my kind of fun, thanks.

  • At my casino they bring people of a certain ethnic group by the busloads.  I see them playing poker with a nickle and they whoop and holler when then win $12.50 when they get a royal flush with that nickle cheesy

It's all relative...my friend PMM cheesy

    Hi Shell,
What do you mean by "REAL"  How are the indian casinos different than the Vegas casinos??  Other than the shows, atmosphere, etc.?  gambling is all the same, right?? or is it??
  • Oh Yes, Rookies are great. They win the smallest amount and go whistling and hollaring, like they won a jackpot. HAHAHAH, To funny Looney. Good post

    Hi Shell,

Indian Casinos are not regulated by the government so they can pretty much do what they want. We only have those here in Florida also but I refuse to enter and waste my money. The machines are so tight and the table limits are ridiculous. The lowest table limit they have is $25 to start. Ridiculous! Eventhough, last spring they did pass legislation that gave the casino vegas style slots and blackjack! For me, I am not going to waste my money somewhere where I know that the odds of winning is slim to none!
  • i'm a pretty avid gambler myself and $20.00 would do nothing for me, but do have a friend who went with me to a casino and only spent about $20 bucks, if that!! I guess if your not really that interested in gambling then the temptation is easy to resist...she saw it as wasting her money as opposed to entertainment.......so maybe those people aren't lying about how much they spend...i guess to some people the flashiness of a casino and the food really are enough to entertain them without dropping their cash in slots or tables!

  • I think Shelli has got it.  If the casino in near by, I would see myself going there for lunch on comps and putting down 20-40 bucks. Another option here is (and I going to sound like what I am, a psychologist) the "gambling brain" - not talking addiction - simply is not going to be satisfied betting $20.
