So, it's winter time. People cluster indoors, winter weather brings down the body's ability to stave off the things which attack us and there's more bugs, viruses and flus poppin' round. How do you keep them at bay....or do you?
Some people wipe and wash often, avoid personal contact and even go as far as wear face masks to avoid the 'plague'. After a dose of something nasty, some massively dose on Vitamin C, resort to pills and vapour rubs and virtually O.D. on syrups or even hit the clinics and hospitals. Others think the body is a miraculous machine capable of taking care of most of what hits it and that a dose is a good way of building up the ol' immuno system.
Personally, I'm on of those annoying people who never get sick, catch bugs which last about an hr that make my nose run at worst and will happily shake hands with sickies and hold poles on crowded subways then wipe my nose (lol, maybe I just carry them, and pass them on).
Do you take any precautions to avoid bugs and how do you go about getting rid of them?

Honestly, I do nothing! Before every coming winter I start thinking about special vaccination, but it's never realized! Also I think about buying vitamins...but I always have no time to go to the chemist's shop...So I think that happens just because my body and mind are against! And I support them! lol
The only thing that I do to minimize the risk is that I wash my hands more often and rare touch my eyes as buds freely and very quickly get in the body through the mucous!

I went overseas once and had a gazillion shots and still got dysentery (I nearly prayed for death....it's pretty bad that the best memory you have is a fever breaking...bliiiiiiiiis). Add 2 types of measles, the pox and mono as a kid, and I've pretty kick ass immune system. Never worry bout catching anything and never do. Rub my eyes, share drinks, touch icky things.....woot!
I figure my body can cope with all but the very worst

I am also one of those "If I get "It" then so be it" types.

I have had colds and such..Last 24 hours and then fine and dandy.

Funny incident (Though it could have been worse) I was about 20, overweight and not working. One day I had to hit the can..And again, and again and..This kept up for 2 weeks, I was sleeping on the hideabed in the living room all this time.

I did keep eating and drinking as I was basically putting out my fluids and other "Stuff"

8 years later the Seattle area was hit by the E-coli bug and sadly it cost a family their child :'(

The newspeople described the symptoms of this and danged if these were the SAME conditions I had had!!

I did finally see a dotor and asked him why I didn't end up in the hospital and he replied I'd been at the perfect range to fight this bug by eating and drinking as I did.

The very young and old cannot take in enough for this to fight it through...
