Category 4 storm going up the east coast of the U.S. after hitting Haiti, Cuba, and the Bahamas. I have two sisters that live in St. Augustine. A mandatory evacuation order has been issued for the entire city. It is one of the oldest cities in the U.S. at 450 years old.  Lots of the city has an elevation between 1 foot to 3 feet above sea level. A storm surge of 8 feet is expected.

Stay safe everyone. Property can be replaced. Human life cannot be replaced.

St. Augustine after Hurricane Matthew passed by.Both sisters safe. They rode out the storm 29 miles away in Palatka, but Palatka lost their electricity. When returning to St. Augustine, I guess there is some TLC that will be needing done. Thank goodness the hurricane eye stayed 40 miles out in the ocean.

Unbelievable.  What an absolute mess.  Glad your sisters were safe.  They reckon up to 900 people have died in Haiti.  It's heartbreaking.

Yes, America has like less than 25 fatalities and places like Haiti lose almost 1000 lives. Big difference between the hurricane brushing a country from 40 miles away vs. a hurricane running right over a country. Like you say, truly a heartbreaker.

Glad to hear that your sisters are fine.

The numbers of people who have died are really saddening.

I m happy too that your Familiy is Fine. The USA is a nice huge Country i never been there but for 2-3 Weeks Holiday i found it nice to be there.

But these Natural Disasters are keeping me far away from the feeling that i want to live there. But i think in a couple of Years this will slowly happed in

        Europe too.

Very sad news... after the Texas/Lousiana floods a few months ago, the hurricane season has now hit hard the East coast.

The loss of life in Hiati is just hearbreaking.
