I am back on the forum at all places but this is a wierd one 4 here

It seems my problem with the LCB forum has dissappeared for the last 6 weeks so for now I am back.  No applause please!  I swear on the bible the following is true but I have no clue how to shorten this bizarre story.  Enjoy!

It all started over a year ago when I refused to answer a phone call on my land line and 10 minutes later my cell phone.  Due to online casinos constantly calling me unless I recognize the number I dont answer.  20 minutes later my 86 year old mom calls chewing my butt out for not answering the phone.  The calls came from New York. This lady trying to reach me called my mother.  Mom gave me the lady's name and i called her back.  She was with Equitible life Insurace.  Right away I knew my ex wife worked there in the early 1980's before we were married.  We were married in 1983 and I filed for divorce in Aug 1993 and the divorce was final at the end of Jan 1996.  I had to prove to the lady I was the right person she was searching for which I did.  She told me she worked in the office that tracks down people who are listed as beneficiaries on life insurance policies on open policies when someone dies.  Now my ex wife who was remarried in 1997 died in July 2009.  I kind of remember paying a life insurance premuim for her for years but I gave up all rights to cash surrender values on all policies in the divorce.  The lady told me the policy was taken out in 1985 but defaulted in 1996.  This made total sense to me that after the divorce my ex quit paying the premium.  What none of us knew is there was a rider that if the policy went into default the policy was adjusted to a full paid up term insuarance policy.  I was 1/2 benefiary and her son was 1/2. I asked how much was my half.  She had no clue.  She told me she had to track down my ex's son then send me a claim form.  8 months went by and nothing.  I gave up on this and threw out my notes on this after talking to my attorney who said the Ohio revised code states ex's are not entitled to any insurance proceeds.  Out of the blue I received a letter asking for a copy of my divorce decree.  I called them and said i cant find it and I refuse to pay for a copy to end up being told I dont qualify to receive any money.  I asked for their legal department to search the Ohio revised code and get back to me.  A month ago I received a claim form in the mail for me and 1 for her son.  I just let the letter and claim forms sit on the end table for 3 weeks.  Finally last week I decided to put an end to this and call them.  I talked to a guy who said he was going to give me an update.  I was told the law went into effect in 1990 but since this policy was taken out in 1985 it was grandfathered in and yes I get half the policy amount.  I figured the paid up default policy was worth under $1000 and I get half.  I was told my half was $2,500.  I dropped a happy f'bomb on him.  Well I need a copy of the death certicate but they wont give me the date she died and her social sercurity number because of the privacy act,  How can the privacy act be for the dead?  Well my attorney's paralegal is getting me a copy of my divorce decree and since my attorney handled her legal stuff on her death for her hubby  I am hoping he will give me a copy of the death certificate but I bet the privacy act comes into play.  This is like hitting a random jackpot with no playthru for $2,500 at an online casino but getting the documents approved is a major problem.  The fun has just started.

I have an update.  My attorney's paralegal called me early this afternoon ans said they didnt have a copy of the death certificate.  I did get the date of death from her.  Next I called the insurance company and found out I did not need a certifide copy of my divorce decree and they waved the need for a copy of the death certificate.  This was great news!!!!!  Believe it or not I found my copy of my divorce decree 10 minutes after getting off the phone with them in an envelope on the closet floor in the spare bedroom.  I finished filling out my claim form, ran a copy of my divorce decree, and wrote a letter explaining I have no clue where her son is and asked them tp process my half of the claim.  Everything is in the envelope ready to go to the post office tomorrow for postage and mailing.  Oh I also found out I will receive around $225 in interest for a grand total of $2725.  It will take 3 weeks to process and mail my check.

it seems sort of morbid to be so happy; as you were once married to this dead person...but congrats on your fortune

She made my life a living hell for the 10 years we were married as well as dragging out the divorce for 2 1/2 years 4 no reason.  Morbid is fine with me.

One of my exes was supposed to pay my attorney fees, and with 10% interest.  That's now up to about $4000.  I can't ever make him pay, but I could maybe collect from his estate.  Just waiting for him to make that possible.  Morbid is fine with me as well.

dam gunny  you should have punched out over the south china sea after the first year if it was so crappy......we are probably all meeting up in hell once it is all over so it probably is twisted justice...im still married but im sure i will be in hell too (as a supervisor) lol..i do hope you get the money though

The weird thing was I was raised that once u get married u stay married but when I broke the news to my parents after 10 years I was filing 4 divorce my father said he gave me credit for lasting 10 years that he would have kicked her to the curb after 1 year.  That comment shocked me.  Lol, Chilly we are part of the morbid group of positive thinkers.

Well this attempt to post lasted all of a few days.  I will give an update on this if I am still around.  One thing I wont tolerate is morons posting their negative bull chit when i was simply trying to help a fellow player.  If it isnt the LCB poster child being an idiot its the 2nd biggest idiot on the LCB forum doing it.

Sorry gunny, I guess I'm kind of happy I have no clue what the problem is.  I hope I didn't say anything to upset in any of my posts.  I hope whatever the problem is works itself out.  It's always good to see your posts.

There isnt more. There were a total of 3 people that never have or had posted anything worth reading.  There was 1 who abused customer service people and posted how proud he was to do it, hes left here for over 6 weeks.  Then we had or have 2 that post nothing but negative things about rtg casinos no matter what anyone posts on threads.  One I havent seen post in over a few months.  The last one decided to attack me on a casino thread.  Once again as usual posting nothing worth 2 cents.  The people that know me here on LCB know I wont tolerate stupid, useless posts whether an attack on me or otherwise anymore.  The newer people to LCB dont realize how great and informative the casino section use to be.  I might get banned before my mission is complete on LCB but look 2 out of 3 gone, 1 to go.  Those who have been here a long time also know I pull no punches and go for the jugular vein.  My close LCB friends know what I am really like and they really do support me.  To beautiful Rena, if u let loose how u feel even though u dont have a mean bone in your body those million times are a thing of the past.  Rosey Bud, who day in and day out is so stress out over her son's health issues is the best friend a person can have on LCB.  Chilly, u may not know this but u crack me up.  Kat, u put me in my place and pull no punches with me and I appreciate that.  Gabby aka Gabber, I wish u had more time to communicate back and forth.  To the Moderators and Zuga, deep down I know u all do a great job and have made LCD the success it is today.  I may be a casualty but look 2 out of 3 aint bad.  Thank you Meatloaf for that one.

LCB is the best site around and for me it's not just because of all the great info,the best administration and the mods who always have our back but because the members here really care for eachother.

im glad ur back posting. However I really dont get your beef. Ok sure u get frustrated and Im sure everyone else here as well, at times. But this is an open forum and it will stay that way.

I really dont think its nice to call some members idiots and morons. And frankly thats something that We do not tolerate ( as you already know it ).

Now Im not gonna ban you, coz you are a valued member here, that always has contributed a lot. However Im gonna ask you to either ignore such member(s), or report such posts where you think you are being attacked or simply reply to them in a civil manner.

I really dont think there is a place for insults of any kind and Im sure your voice can be heard louder if its presented with facts and valid arguments, rather than using foul language.

This was a read and a half and honestly my eyes damn near crossed. I never get involved in bs on here but man you should be enjoying the games instead of counting the days that others havent been seen on here. Best to just post ur wins cause this didn't help anyone. I can say personally this is the nicest forum i come to. Understandably there is drama once in awhile but compared to other forums this one is the most respectable. Got to thank a great bunch of members and mods who keep it going smooth. I fight traffic and customers all day long on my job and don't need it when i come home to relax and read good forums like this one.

Gunny u hang in there.My personal opinion is we are expected to act as adults but in saying that,we are still human.Anger,sadness,injustice etc.are all human emotions that we would have to be inhuman to not re-act. Some have thicker skins then others so if from time to time we show our human side,dont always take it the wrong way.LCB is still one awesome forum to be a part of. The mods and Zuga are excellent and i frankly have no idea how they keep it clean warm and respectable here with so many members.YOU GUYS ROCK

Like Rena said it is very tricky for LCB staff to keep things calm and clean at times. But I guess that goes with a territory.

And like i said many times Gunny, this has nothing to do with taking sides, as we always strive to be objective. This is about keeping our boards civil.

And you know , we cant always please everyone. Some feelings or even egos will get hurt and that is part of being human.

Now I do ask from all members to refrain from any type of personal attacks so this doesn't refers only to you Gunny.

Yes you were provoked but thats why we have report abuse button. We cant always monitor every single post so we rely on everyone keeping it friendly or "fighting"back with valid arguments.

Again i have nothing personal against anyone here, so to all LCBérs i say please do report abusive posts in case we miss them, or PM me.

Now as far as useless posts, rants or even bashing that as well goes with a territory as we are a gambling forum after all.

And we dont want to censor any of them as this is an open forum. Now in case of one of those topics why give them any significance by replying? Simple ignore them and they will fade away.

We are all humans and our opinions will clash at times, but that doesnt mean we cant have an adult discussion.

But im proud to say that for the most part members here ARE friendly and helpful. And that speaks volumes of our community.

I'm completely gutted this am!! I received 2 pms.1 from Gunny,last night and one from Rena,this morning.I was informed they are both leaving the forum!!
I'm not surprised by the one but I am by the other.I'm not really sure if it is about this or not but whatever it is about I'm bummed!!
  These are two of the people I consider as friends on here and who always give me a kind word or words of encouragement..if it's about my son or whatever the reason!
  I hope they change their minds and decide to stay because I'll miss them both and I'd hate the fact that it is because we have some people on here lately who cannot say a nice thing about other members or the casinos or whatever the topic is.:(
  These are two members who have been here for awhile and are good and decent people.
I hope OUR forum hasn't become like some of the others..all the bickering,putting down of other members and just plain ole haters!!

With a risk of him taking this as an attack now, I have to express my opinion. To me it seems you are acting like a little kid. Firstly you announced with fanfare how you are back thanx to couple of members that are gone now. I mean seriously was that necessary?

It seems gunny is bothered by few members, but never reflect on if he is bothering someone else with the language used in his replies.

The way i see it this is a 2 way street and everything would be easier if everyone took advice by Admins and Mods.

I have nothing against gunny, but to me this is ridiculous. Again no offense.

Being this is a public forum there is always going to be comments made that either we don't agree with or are offensive. Considering that anyone from around the world visits this forum and the huge amount of traffic that passes through LCB's virtual doors everyday i'd say that this is one of the most friendliest forum out there.

There are all kinds of personalities here and yes, some are more sensitive than others. And i don't blame anyone for not wanting to belt right back when they are attacked. It def is natural to react  and we are only human! It is for this reason that the staff tries hard to stop it in it's tracks to prevent more chaos and hurt feelings.

I can completely relate to feeling sensitive to comments and i have always said if i was not a mod i  probably would of been bounced ages ago for belting right back! It was a learning process for me and i try my best not to let it get to me because the staff takes the hardest hits at times.

I too feel the ouch and it hits the sensitive cord  for me when it happens to other members. It is why i try to jump in and stop it. But there is a huge difference between sensitivity and having a down right temper every time someone says something they don't like.

Retaliating and saying even more harsh words back is not the answer because then we become as rude as the person who made the comment to us in the first place.

And to be honest in some cases i think that comments made are misconstrued and taken the wrong way.

We all have lives outside of this forum and who knows what kind of day we all have had. Nobody said life was gonna be easy and maybe if we have a bit more understanding it won't effect us so  much. For some, life's struggles don't interfere and they are kind no matter what. Rosebud is a fine example of that!

For those who are mistreated in any way we the staff are here to protect you. But there is a huge dif between feeling some members are "stupid or "useless" to this forum because you don't agree with them. No post, comment or opinion is ever stupid and if you don't agree offer your opinion back in a civil way or ignore them.

In closing, i do hope you do stay Rena because you are always warm and kind.
