Hiya Members,
Imagine there's no Heaven, its easy if you try. No hell below us.......above us only sky.......
What happens when we die......do we go to heaven? Heaven is considered our final resting place. A glorious kingdom........where we will jump from cloud to cloud to visit one another. A place where harps are strumming playing a heavenly tune.
I would like to believe there is. It would be much too harsh of a reality to think there is nothing beyond this earth plane. It brings me solace to think that loved ones are in a final resting place......dancing on a glittery golden sidewalk.
If there is not a heaven.......then what? We all die and become null and void. Is this our only existence here on earth?
What is heaven to you......or not?

I truely feel sorry for anyone who has to question that! As a born again Christian I know there is a Heaven and it is a very good feeling to be assured that when I die the Lord will be there for me! If there was no Heaven there would be no Good and if there was no Good there would be no Evil and I can assure you there is plenty of Evil here on earth! Therefore there is Good and there is a HEAVEN

I consider myself a practicing Christian and don't believe in "heaven" (the place folks go when they die.) Heaven I feel is based on nebulous texts from the Bible and a lot of (WELL INTENDED) wishful thinking. I believe life is a gift and heaven is using it to the best of our ability. We pray we have 100 years, but all of life, sort or long, is a gift. Why be so heaven-bound we are no earthly good???

Well...holding out for happy places when we croak DOES make us feel better. However (and if you wish to throw rotten veggies at me, that is okay!) if there is a "heaven" it certainly must exist beyond human wishful-thinking. Why do we believe in heaven? Well...mostly because we simply want it to be there.
Now, having said that. If there is a heaven, I hope the Lord is forgiving of me for running my fat mouth and puts me on the beach with the margaritas! -

There has to be a heaven!!! We are creatures of hope and faith. Without our dreams life would be null and void. Without the promise of a glorious life beyond this one, it would be like viewing life in black and white.
So i prefer to live in living colors......every color under the rainbow.....and beyond!

I serioursly hope you guys are all wrong about there being a heaven.....heaven is associated with the bible and has anyone read the bible lately?? How about just the 7 deadly sins???? Who here hasn't done something that is considered a sin?? If there is a heaven I don't kow a SINGLE person who's going there....I know alot of very good people, but that doesn't change the fact that they have done something the bible would consider a sin........Mcdonalds, with all the supersized meals would be considered a deadly sin, GLUTTONY anyone? I'm not sure who said it, but as someone else posted earlier, I also believe heaven is just something people think of to make themselves feel better, to give hope and possible to try and scare people into doing whats right for fear of going to Hell................................thats my 2 cents lol

Satans....I think that is why we focus on a God who loves us despite our disposition to sin, and sin BIG! But, I DO feel "heaven" misses the point of Christianity. I think the whole Jesus-thing is about living a grace-full, loving, selfless life on earth. Why sould we want a reward for doing that? It would seem to defeat the purpose.
Also, "heaven" seems highly wishful thinking to me. I am very content living the best life I can following the Lord. I sure don't need heaven to make me want to do that. -

Good words. I just want to be clear, I fully respect folks religious views. I am just joining this conversational thread on the subject of "heaven" by adding my 2cents. I am not coming at this from the point of I AM RIGHT and all others are WRONG.
That passage from Hebrews if very comforting. However, I don't see it saying anything about people going to a happy, Disney-like, afterlife. Now, having said that, I will be very satisfied if the good Lord proves me wrong! -

Doc,
We always we come to this forum and give our points of view. I'd like to think of it as a patchwork quilt. Each patch brings its own dimension as it changes. At the end of the day our quilt is complete.
I love the different aspects and point of views we share. Don't ever change. I hope none of us change. It's what makes us who we are.....the LCB family!!

Hey Doc, in your repsonse....who here hasn't done something that is considered bad for a good reason ?.....drug dealers for example...i'm not saying I agree with them, because I do belive that what they do is terrible, but how many people out there deal drugs to support their family simply because NO ONE will give them a chance and that is their last resport as to supporting their children....at what point do those people make the choice that harming and corrupting others is ok if that means putting a meal on the table for their kids, that otherwise would go hungry....I don't agree completely with the whole good or bad thearoy of life because people make choices based on their needs.......is it ok to hurt someone else if it helps another??? or vice versa??? you really have to know the entire story of someone in order to judge if their actions are right or wrong....and EVERYONE has a story!!!

Hey Nan...
Where did this come from??
Hey,nal...are you asking me why I put this poem in this thread or asking me where I found this poem...
I add this poem to say this is one of way to go to heaven...if I offend any of you, sorry about that.
no silly..you didn't offend me. don't ever worry about that. i would be much more direct with you if i was..you should know that.
i liked it, but was wondering if you wrote it, or if someone else did..bible,etc. i didn't see any quotes, so i thought maybe you wrote it.
this board is the best freedom of speech i see...make use of it.
anyway, no matter who wrote it...i like it -

Imagine theres no heaven,
no nothing left to live for,
All the love,
all the hate,
have only come from that one place.
See theres no heaven,
only hell on earth,
where people stand,
hand in hand,
and fight for what its worth.
No father to say "welcome home",
Or Jesus to hold you tight,
No angels to fight for your own life,
Oh, no your all alone.
We walk and talk,
with evil on our hands,
blood spilled top the grave,
and when our heroes left this land,
they died another day.
Bury the evil,
with these souls,
and set free faiths behold,
Bring me back to life.
For if there was no heaven,
then surely,
There'd be no life.

Wnanbee: I guess my rejection of Heaven is based on the multiple generations of we Christians who believe Heaven is the ultimate goal of Christianity. In other words, we Christians have become so Heaven bound we are no earthly good. I really believe the whole Jesus thing has nothing to do with Heaven, rather, a new ethic or paradigm of living life on earth.
Good pic by the way! -

tell that to the starving children in third world countries, who wouldn't even know what a shoe or toilet was if they saw one!! You know, those kids that end up dying from malnutrition and disease....where is God for those people, where is the love, where is the support, how is letting innocent children suffer considered not giving up or failing them? Just curious, no offence to anyone else or their beliefs....that is just something I've always asked myself when I question the existance of the Lord.............. -

let's look at it this way; I believe in God and live my life accordingly and i die and was wrong what happens nothing right but lets say you don';t believe and you die and you were wrong Now what happens THINK about that one
in response to that....apparently nothing will happen, God supposedly forgives everyone! -

Well, that's a toughie. To consider there was no such thing, would be simply to believe the Bible was completly fictional, that who wrote it all (Or had help) was basically the greatest mind towards fiction ever possible.
I recall the song by Blood, Sweat and Tears. "And when I die"" The lyrics go thusly: "I swear there ain't no Heaven, but pray there ain't no Hell"
But if we as a populace didn't believe, we'd have to then wonder what IS afterward? Some would (As they do now) believe we're a fluke and we'll just go nowhere. Others would have made a choice to believe in SOMETHING good awaits us afterward.
However, none of us will know the answer till we too, take that final step. -
