  • Here's what the BBC reports:

Jay Leno has taken a pay cut to save the jobs of other members of staff working on the popular late night talk show "The Tonight Show".

Some 20 staff reportedly lost their jobs on Friday, as broadcaster NBC moves to reduce the show's costs.

"Jay's foremost concern is for the wonderful people who work with him at The Tonight Show," said Bruce Bobbins, a spokesman for Leno. Reports suggest his salary will drop by more than $5 million to $20m. "He did what was necessary to ensure their well-being," said Mr Bobbins.

Leno's current salary is between $25 million and $30 million, and it is understood he volunteered to take a pay cut if it would save some jobs.

Well, I guess it's not too difficult to take a 5 million pay cut when you're still getting 20 million. But it's a nice thing to do.

  • Yeah, that's a nice thing to do; I guess he didn't need to do anything about this, and 5 million is a lot anyway.  cheesy

  • Definately cool!!
The pay cut really won't hurt him that much....he has more than that invested in cars but it's still nice that he is at least trying to save some of their jobs!!

  • A very kind move but I doubt he will miss the $5million pay cut.  Instead of getting half a million a week he will only get $385,000 a week.  I use the term "only" very lightly!

  • thats great(how many other celebs can say they would do the same huh

  • That's was a really great thing to do. To give up his own salary no matter how big or small to save the jobs of others is commendable.
