  • Dear forum management,

I have to complain severly about this.

If you set up more usefull things like this, I will not find any more time to gamble.

So why don´t we get our direct casino support buddies, let them set up a free contest, let us all have a good time spinning and let the casino donate the winnings (after doubling them).

They would have some good PR, could reduce it from the tax (at least in Germany).

And we would have the fun of gambling and doing something good.

  • this is how it is i cant afford to make payments and i gamble from stress and pain it helps me focus on something and i pray for a win to get me back on top and of course i lose and i pray for a win to make up the loss i am a gambler i am tired old and sick but ii am a gambler a person who takes a gamble that somethling good will fall there way and even though each week is a guess as to how it will go and the bill collectors are pounding on the door i am the gambler who prays for a win to pay the man who is pounding on the door.

  • My experience has been pretty good. Its like life I guess, you have your ups, and downs but always manage to make it. I manage my gambling for the most part so its not a big factor, and it always helps when casinos like Tropica, and Vegas Regal give freebies. Something to do when you have hit the slump, and are bored. (Not intended on leaving out the other casinos that do give freebies, but that would be a long list). Although what has been a big factor in the majority of this for me has been LCB! Wonderful  place as well as the people here, and I would encourage anybody who likes gambling as much as I to join.

  • My first online win is a day i will never forget! It was before the ban in US when microgaming was my playground. My favorite casino at that time was The Gaming Club.

It was late on a beautiful summer's night. It's funny how you remember fragments of certain moments. As i sat next to the window, i could feel the warm summer breeze. I made a deposit through Firepay and played my favorite slot......Tomb Raider slots. Oh how i miss that game!!

The lady with the gun was good to be me that night! I was up over $1000 when i sensed it had given me all it can. I decided to try out Ladies Night! The bartender with his tray of cocktails slipped more than his fair share of cash to me!

I had a bankroll over $3,000 at one point. I vowed to myself that i would not go below $2,700. Well of course i pushed the envelope a little further testing my luck.

I ended up cashing out close to $2,500 and it was in my bank account the very next day! Oh those were the days my friend! No middle man to go through. Straight to my bank.

I did spend that money like a drunken sailor! I shopped til i dropped and had a night on the town with the ladies. After all it was Ladies Night that brought me my good fortune.......

  • nice story: now thats what i like to hear!:P

  • Hi folks,

Please excuse the first post. But when it goes about campaining I am always a little bit fast.

I made my first "fast personal fortune" when I was five years old: Enough money to buy a lego set without birthday or christmas. Hit the payout in in our familys local pub "one-armed-bandit".

The very best time was when Atari arrvied then. In Germany there was a machine called "Royal Joker" that you could time. If you cold play the last level of Indiana Jones, it was no problem to time the maximiúm bonus feature.

This was like printing money. Imagine takking 50 Detschmarks going downton to your local punk/wave hangout, waste yor money on the girls uand take the last 5 Deutschmarks for a spin and drive home in a (paid) taxi and find 120 Deutschmarks in your pockets the next morning.

It didn`t take forever for them to find out and for some time they hated me but even today I get asked by my friends to do it again.

  • the worst thing that happened to me was on a trip to Vegas I smoke so as soon as i got off the phane i went to the smoking area and played the slots while i smoked i won $650. on twenty and that was it i figured this would be my lucky trip and i never won again the whole time i was there but spent a lot more then the 650 never win up front you change your style and lose a lot more

  • C'mon guys this is not hard!!! We are all gamblers and we have a story to share i'm sure!!

This is a great cause and in the end you can get your money back! So what do ya say.......share your experiences.

  • Hi gang:
This memory takes me way back when I was just starting out with gambling.

When luck is with us, it is just with us. Sometimes it feels like it is never going to happen to us, and then suddenly lady luck shines our way and all is wonderful.

I was playing a game called Treasures of Troy. Penny slot, 20 lines, and I was betting 1.60 per spin.  Gawd, back in the day I thought that was so much to bet per spin. HAHA Now a days I bet twice that and think nothing of it. Anyways.....

The game is killing me.  I had dropped alot into this machine.  I started to get frustrated. I started to get that gamblers remorse about all I have done, and shouldn't have done.  Sigh....

I brought $400 bucks into that casino that day, and had dropped almost all of it into this machine.  Gang? I was down to my last $20 bucks.  I knew I needed to go, but I said, what the hell.  I was a smoker at the time and I knew that last $20 was needed for smokes, but I didn't care.  I put it in that machine like I had with all the money before it.

I was down to my last $7 in the machine, and it started to hit. I hit a spin for $70 bucks, and then a bonus.  Right then I was happy just to get some of my money back. DO you think I got out after that bonus? Hell no, I pushed on. lol

Within a moment of the bonus being done I hit a spin for $979.00. I was floored. I jumped for joy, and my friend cried. HAHA.  Yet this machine wasn't done. I hit another bonus, and netted another $100 bucks on top of it.

I was Christmas time, and I was less than enthusiastic about the holidays. That all change.  I went out and re-bought more gifts for everyone I loved.  Paid a few bills, and most importantly, thanked God for the windfall.

Luck is just a crazy thing.  You can go for a long long time and have none, then you suddenly have so much you wish you could share it with people.  wink

That was an amazing win that day.  I still remember it like it was yesterday.

    Thanks for reading,.......

That is GREAT Booo!!!!!  Just in time!  ;-)
  • I deposited $25 on Jackpot Capital last night and I have to say, I've not had too much luck on there lately.  I'm a silver VIP and trying to get myself to Gold for that $100 free chip they give you.

Anyway, I went to my favourite slot Honey to the Bee and bet 60c a spin.  I know $25 isn't much but I don't like to put too much on and I never use a bonus.

I started spinning and I could see it was pretty loose and I was hitting 5 of a kind Aces on a couple of occasions and then the bonus round came in.  It retriggered during the spins and then retriggered again.  I won $52 for those free spins which wasn't bad at 60c level.

After that I kept getting 5 x Aces which gave me $12 each time.  I thought about putting the bet up, but from experiences before, I decided against it as I always lose when I up the bet.

It started to go downhill for a while so I cam e off there with about $100 and went onto Outta This World - another favourite of mine.  I hit the free spins pretty sharpish and won 20 free spins and 5 x bet (60c again).  I managed to get $30 odd bucks for that.

I did play a few other slots but to no avail and decided to cash out at $150 which left me $10 to play with.  That $10 was gone in the blink of an eye.

It was a very short playing time and normally, I would just carry on and lose it all but I decided to take it out to use on other casinos.  A very nice result with a 6 x deposit cashout.  If only I could do that on every deposit.....I would be laughing all the way to the bank.

  • My very first online win was with one of the migrogaming, had gotten a freebie for signing up, spun here and there and soon it was gone. This also was my first time in an online casino, had really no idea what i was doing. I remember reading about getting 200% extra money if i make a deposit, thought about it, went to chat asking questions, not the questions we are supposed to ask now a days, but the question i asked was.. "really you are going to give me 2'x my money for FREE just to gamble at this site?" they asnswer "YES it is a spectacular bonus, here up don't miss out". They had me all hyped and thinking i better hurry so yes i did, and yes i got the bonus, thinking wow this is really cool. I head off and go play happy as can be. I played the Thunder Struck game, up and down my money went, but having a really good time playing this game. Well, it was getting a little boring and wasn't seeming to win anymore, so i moved to poker. Back then i was poker crazy, being from vegas i knew how to gamble, i just didn't know how to gamble online. Played the bonus poker and hit a royal within a few hands, 1000.00. Oh Man this is my lucky day, free money and a royal.. I decide to cashout. Funny to me but i thought cash-out was going to put my money aside, close the site come back later, and play some more.. i thought i was cashing out of the poker machine NOT the casino. I don't know why i was so confused or didn't understand what i was doing. Cash-out means you're cashing out. Came back later i don't find my money, i went to ask what happened, they told me.. you cashed out, i said yeah but where is it though LMAO... (im looking on both sides of my computer monitor thinking, theres no hopper and tray to pop the coins out, but im looking) anyways it was in my bank account, embarressing but this is my story of first time gambling and winning.

  • Enjoyed your blog Imagin. , and had a chuckle too.

Ah yes, we were all new at one time. wink

When I first started gaming, I didn't even know what a playthru was.  Boy oh Boy, did I learn quick. laugh_out_loud

  • Actually there was a mistake with this as well, they did pay me all the money, later sent me an email explaining the mistake, and asked that i return the money, more emails exchanged and it was soon all fixed, theres more to it then this, just a quick hap explain, i just didn't put that in lol
So yes about playthroughs and bonuses i did learn that as well.

  • You didn't give the money back did you?

Please tell me you didn't give it back if it was already in your bank account. I mean, it sounds like you won it fair and square right? Did you violate their terms? Or did they make some kind of mistake? Either way, I hope you held on to it if it was already in your bank account.

  • Brad, everyone was telling me as you are, but i could not.. it's just something in me that says do the right thing, i was overpaid, a certain amount was supposed to be deducted, but they paid me straight away, here they were honest enough to pay me in the first place so quickly and decently it was my turn to do what is right... BUT they wanted me to give them back all of it, they would in turn remove what was overpaid then send me back the balance, i refused, only returning what was overpaid.. it all worked out

  • Well at least you didn't give it all back. I quess you did the "right" thing, which would probably make you a bigger person than me. Don't know if I would have given it back once I had my hands on it. I'd probably use some kind of expected value equation to decide the future risk/reward of keeping it vs giving it back based on the casinos rep, how they had treated me (and others) in the past, the nature and extent of their affiliates, etc. If it would ultimately have cost me more via damaged reputation and future possible earnings there and elsewhere then, yes, it would make more sense to give it back. But if I had some major bill(s) pressing up against me at the time, who knows?

How much did they overpay you anyway?

  • mmmm... brad ..tsk tsk  everything in life is a test. Justify or rationalize stealing is pure insanity. Become a bigger person by looking at the bigger picture.  (mmm not bad  maybe I'll copyright that one)

  • Maybe you're not so familiar w/some of the underhanded practices some of the players have experienced at the hands of online casinos. Not all of them of course; I know there's a lot that are very honest and reputable. But if any of them wants to test me by putting $1000 in my account, I'm up for that any day of the week.

  • lol.. brad.. you are an excellent writer, i always enjoy reading everything you post, very complete and understandable.. and of course i do have an evil side to myself.. hehe, i think you would do this thread some real justice by blessing us with a nice blog..

  • Well since you put it that way, I know I probably wouldn't blink if go casino gave me back some of what I put in...A couple of years ago inside a brick and mortar I did the impossible and got a refund twice after hours and hundreds wasted.

A land casino actually gave you a refund?  That is incredible.  What were the magic words to say to get them to do that for you?

  • guess what i did got greedy should of took more than a 6 hour nap should of took a 10 day nap.  I could not win at anything i played it felt as if it was tightened up just for me.  but ya know what i had fun trying and one of these days god i pray i will take my winning and walk away.

  • I have yet to win online (fingers crossed any day now laugh_out_loud) but the funnest win was when I was a gambling newb, about 8 years ago.

I was at a local land casino and didn't have alot of money to play with.  It's back in the day when most machines were 5cents and up, and I was happy to be 2 or 3.  Then like magic, I got up and walked over to the high roller area- I swear it's like i was pulled there- and watched this guy get up from a machine.  I wasn't looking for a machine to play, but I HAD to play it.  I threw in a hundred, and the guy goes, good luck I just put $2000 into it and didn't win a d#@$n thing.  I hit max bet on the first spin, and got 3 matching across.  I look and see I won $3000!!  Then I noticed that it was a $5 machine lol.  I had never played at a $1 machine before, so that was a huge surprise.  That guy's face turned so red, he stomped off cursing me, the machine, everything.  I was too in shock at the win to pay much attention though.

Another fun one, we were spending the weekend at a local beach casino, and were down to the last couple of hundred bucks on the first day.  Nothing had been nice to us, it was one of those gambling days where it's more of a drain to play because of the beating.  I was playing Millionizer machine, the Geisha Girl, and was down to 10cents.  I don't like to cash out that small amount, so I reduced the lines and hit spin.  I got the Millionizer bonus thing, and picked the 3 gold bars paying $1500!  That was awesome.  Made the rest of the trip much funner.

Last summer my dh won $5000 on a millionizer type machine at the same casino, where you have to 'shoot' balls into different racks.  I don't think we have ever won more than that amount though.

  • Hi gang!I guess one of my best casino nights is when I lived in Illinois. My fiance and I both took $200 to play with,he went to bj tables me to the slots.I put a $20 in a dollar machine and on my 4th. hit, I won $1200.I walked around waiting for a machine to yell at me,even q-tipped my ears before leaving the house...did I just hear my name???YES!!!!Definintely. Here I come exclamation!Well it took about $100 dollars but I hit that one too, this time for $900.Time to go find the fiance!!I spot him and he"s up $500.Time to go!!!On our way home,we have to pass 3 other casinos. With blinders on(don't fail us now)we made it home and the following week I went to see my kids in Delaware, whom I hadn't seen in over a year.I wish things like  that happened more (for everyone)  but thems the chances we take and why we call it gamblin!!!Have a great day all!!!

  • Toodleedoo and Bingocrazy, those were fantastic to read, enjoyed them both so much, brings back many good memories for me, those goodtimes..

I really loved the "with blinders on" those days of driving past the casinos to bring that great win home!

  • .. hehe, i think you would do this thread some real justice by blessing us with a nice blog..

Ok, well, I don't know if this would qualify as a blog, and I'm sure it's certainly not a blessing, but here's something. This was really intended to be a reply to the "borrowing" thread somebody posted the other day but I'll just stick it here instead. I started to post it a couple of days ago but I got side tracked for a while. Anyhow ...

Have you ever had someone try to borrow money from you in a casino? A virtual stranger nonetheless? I had met this guy a couple of times before on the bus we take to the casino. Actually, the first time I met him we were waiting to get on the return bus home and I had for the first time (and hopefully last, but I wouldn't count on it) lost everything I had brought w/me on video poker. Turns out he had too (not on vp though), only his loss was about 5 times mine. Said he was afraid to go home again. We both play quite a bit of Blackjack so we chatted a bit about that on the way back before dozing off. Later I found out that these big losses are a recurring theme for this guy and when I finally got a chance to hang out w/him on the tables (I wasn't playing at the time) I found out why. He's a true gambler - takes stupid risks and doesn't know when to stop; or knows and just refuses to do it. Sometimes he seems to at least know and play basic strategy; others he just ignores it (and he's not just deviating based on a counting strategy). He plays all the other high risk games as well, but seems to play the majority on blackjack.

By the time I started seeing this on a later trip he had already busted out but had managed to borrow a little money from a fellow player at the tables (another complete stranger I found out later) and had been lucky enough to run that up a little. So now he's got a few green chips in his pocket. And what do you think his next brilliant move is? Something sensible like take the money and run after recouping some of his losses? No, no, no. Not this guy. Now it's time to get up from the $5 table he was on (minimum for this casino) and hop one table over to a $25 min table - swearing up and down the whole time to me and anybody else that'll listen that there's no way he's giving back the last two greens he's got ratholed in his pocket. Of course, moments later, whatever green he did have on the felt has dissappeared like a vapor and where do you suppose his hand is now? Yep. Right back in his pocket for the last two without a moments hesitation. And once again - vapor.

Back over to the $5 dollar table, where we're both just sitting back and watching the action. Well, I'm just watching. He's watching too but is also busy lamenting his misfortune to the few players still remaining at the table. But he's a pretty gregarious guy; laughing it up and getting along with everybody at the table including the dealers and pit bosses whom he seems to be on a first name basis with. So pretty soon he's convinced the guy at third base (whom he also has apparently just met) to throw him a few red chips to play around with, hoping to get yet another fresh start. These also went the way of the others in short order. Afterwards, we wander off on our seperate ways and I'm just taking a break, sitting back at a slot machine and watching the TV behind the bar when he wanders up to me again. This time he's got a $15 dinner comp that one of the pit bosses had given him, which he's willing to part with for $10. Not a bad deal really, but dinner was not on my mind at the time. I had really come to play Blackjack, yet after a few useless hours on video poker (which I'm forced to do now anyway to try and recover the "cash back" bonuses the casino no longer gives us in the form of cold hard cash) still had not one hand to show for it. With 5 or so hours left 'til the next bus home arrives (after already skipping the first one 7 or 8 hours earlier) I've still got time to spare, but the moment is drawing closer so I've got to get moving if I'm actually gonna accomplish what I came to do. Fortunately, after all that video poker, I've still got most of the bankroll I walked in with. It wasn't really enough for me to play comfortably anyway, but I can work with it as long as the gods of variance shine their benevolence upon me.

This is not what I tell him of course. Seeking the quick and easy way out I give him one I know he'll understand - I've already long since busted out on Video Poker ("why do you think I've been sitting around for so long doing nothing?"). He doesn't go down without a fight, but it's just the salutory effort I guess. Once he's convinced I really do have nothing to offer he's back on the hunt. Before to long though security has been alerted to his efforts and he to theirs. So he saves himself the time and potential embarrassment by just approaching them first. "Hey man, are you guys gathering around here to keep an eye on me because I'm trying to sell my dinner comp"? "Yeah, you can't be soliciting in here." "No problem, I'm through with it". I know this because he's recounted it to me on his second approach (which is getting a little annoying now) where the going price has now dropped to $5. Desperation's setting in but I'm still not buying - I'll likely need all I've got for my own game. Not long after though, he seals the deal w/somebody and I manage to catch up w/him at same $5 table just after he's finished blowing that little windfall too. Now it's just a small straight up cash loan he's after (he'll pay it back, scouts honor); having conveniently forgotten that there's no more cash to loan (as far as he knows). But ... all is not lost. He manages to finagle yet another $15 dinner comp from the same pit boss after actually telling him what he did with the first one and all the security shennanigans that ensued. Yeah, the same pit bosses that have never once even offered me a free drink at the bar much less dinner; never once done anything but hawk my game and make "idle" bs conversation to try and distract me. Guy's like him are a pit bosses best friend though.

He wanders off again to try and run this one the way of the first, disappearing into the maze of slot machines. So now it's Blackjack time. But a couple more problems occur to me as I'm scouting the few playable tables that are quickly filling up with the early afternoon crowd. First, I've already had to forgo a few good hours of play time earlier in the morning because one of the main pit bosses I make an effort to avoid if possible was glued to the only playable table open that late (or early, depending on how you look at it). What else could he do? It was the only table open in that whole pit. So I had to pass for a while. But now the hours are starting to catch up with me and the coffee doesn't seem to be doing much for my focus no matter how much I drink. Second, and potentially more humbling, this guy is still out there prowling around somewhere (since we're on the same bus). Making the rounds a couple of times I can't seem to to locate him anywhere, but I know what's gonna happen the second I sit down at a table with a big pile of chips in front of me. He'll come creeping around with an explanation in mind. Not that I'm necessarily obligated to give him one - it's my money after all. But I do kind of like the guy so far and I just don't think he'll be impressed with the notion that we play entirely different styles at the same game. There's a reason I bring what I bring to the table - and it's never just $10 or $15 for reasons that should be obvious to him by now. Still, who knows, the time may come when I need him to slide me a few extra chips. Stranger things have happened. So I don't want to just piss him off or hurt his feelings needlessly.

If I hadn't been so tired I probably would have just played anyway and mucked my way through a plausible explanation if the time came. This time though, the whole trip turned out to be a wash. But I did manage to leave with almost everything I walked in with, ready to fight another day. And I still don't even know that guy's name.

So, has anybody else experienced something like this? People trying to bum money or chips off you at the casino? Not just a few cents to scrouge up some gas money, but actual playable amounts. Anybody ever done the borrowing?
  • Brilliant.. writing, i loved reading that, excellent blog, excellent story. yes constantly in casinos, the hints thrown at you.. a visitor wouldn't know how much and how many times, it is closely watch here in vegas. It is what you say, borrow it on scouts honor, run straight to a machine or table, lose it like they just didn't care.. it's borrowed money is what's in their minds i think, not their hard earned, like they make a living doing this..

Another is the credit lookers, machines that have credits left by unexperienced players, or money left in trays by players who maybe forgot or who had to much to drink. They make their rounds over and over again, seen a guy walk up to a machine that had 70.00 left in it.. what a way to make a living, now thats free money..

    Thank You Brad, very nice...

                                                                      PMM

As far as "magic words" go..let's just say those who know me know that my persistence toward justice is my driving force. The first time around, a friend and I showed up when the place was near empty. We picked a row of machines one was wild cherry, 7 diamond, and some I can't remember. Anyway, all in all we played 3 a piece. Each spin was at the max of 75 cents 3 lines. The staff would come over speak to us cheer us on etc. I remember asking if it was cool to play the way we were and was told fine. As time went on however, what was fine became a nightmare. Some guy saw what we had ratted us out to security. I was told that if a customer request a machine that i need to give it up. To that line of b.s. I said hell no. I stood our ground. WE were threatened with being escorted. half ass attempts of bribes were thrown at us. You know, we'll give you dinner for two at our luxurious blah blah blah or banquet for two at our award winning buffet. To that I said "do I look like I need a buffet?". I asked to speak to the casino manager. The Hench men/woman present tried to persuade me from talking to him. Stuff like "he's a busy person", we're here", "we already gave you the offer" etc. I told them unless you give me the monetary equivalent your offers mean nothing. They insisted that the didn't give money back. Ha!! I inssited on the manager. The main girl told me he wasn't going to like being bothered. To which I told her, that's not my problem. He's not my boss. He's yours. You should of handled this better.

I knew the man was watching so I motion my hand toward the ceiling to come down. He appeared in about 2 Min's. He started with the we don't give money back crap too. I pulled him to the side. First let him have it for the circus surrounding us that wasn't necessary. I showed him a formula I came up with while waiting. It consisted of the time we played the amount of money put in, total amount of machines etc. (BTW, they wanted us to each give up 2 a piece if not all. Although there were 5 identical machines for each one we were on on the next row and the row behind us. All of these machines were empty.) When the manager tells me we don't give money, we don't give refunds so don't ask spill. I returned with, yes you do. You give out coupons in the mail with a dollar value attached. It gives the player a choice to cash it out and leave or to play it. Some casinos bribe the senior citizens with a free donut and $5 on Tuesday. You know a good majority only comes for the  money , yet you hope the rest will stay and gamble away their checks. There is nothing different in those examples and what I'm asking. We played the max so you can't say we didn't. You said it was impossible to do with 3 machines a piece, I say its not. Run the tape. I asked before we started and while we played your staff said OK. If your policies and procedures only pertain to customers when you all feel the need than it needs an overhaul.

All in all, I held my ground and we came to a compromise. I was sworn to secrecy, but hell screw that!! I was escorted to the main cage by the top guy and given a substantial refund.

...The second time came about from playing the nickel machine "gusher" i think its called. Anyway, after over 100 thrown in and not a bonus in sight, I called for a floor person as a witness. I had him stand and witness how the machine look  (somewhat) intentionally to be skipping the trigger. By this time I had even lowered the bet. Forget the random falling excuses my mind was thinking of Fred Flintstones in Vegas and how he just wanted one more coin no one would give it to him. When he walked away an old lady came by put a coin in viola! Jackpot!. So I was afraid to even step away. After persistence and such I was given back about $120. I thanked him. Sent him on his way. Reserved the machine for about 10 mins came back put 1 20 in it and after about 10 spins the bonus it. It gave me $600 I immediately cashed out.  The second time took some finesse and some logic. The point here is it can be done.
  • Poppy that was great reading, shows persistance pays off, and it sure in the heck did.. cheesy cheesy

One of the rarest is cash refunds in casinos, you seemed to have mastered it!

  • Brad,

Great story and experience. This guy had to really be a hustler. He wasn't dealing one of his own kind, gamblers!!  How he managed to get money out of these players is beyond me. Had to one hell of a fast talker and sized up his targets well! I guess no one will be more generous than a player that just wins a pocketful of cash while someone is cheering them on.

    Poppy,

That is a amazing story! I never thought it would be possible to get cash out of the casino. Your persistence  and resistance  to bully arm tactics paid off. There is one thing im curious about. Just how much was this "substantial" refund?

    Great readings, thanks for sharing!

Don't remember exactly I  know it was between $260-$340. The manager and I haggled each other until we reached the stonewall all the way to the main cashier.

..Now as far as Brad's thing goes, I'm surprised the folks actually handed someone red chips! After all those are $5. At times I've been know to give a few bucks out if I'm ahead. Unfortunately, those times I've fallen behind to the point of lint those same people are singing the wait till I come up song, although their balance is well over $20. I made a post regarding this awhile back. In brief, my gambling partner and I were down to a ticket for 7 cents. I saw this guy I loaned 4 bucks to a week prior playing the max on nickel machines. This guy also was carrying a wad of cash. Some 100's. When I first met him he tried to sale me his necklace I told him to keep it. Now when I approached him I asked for half of what I had given him. That's when he decided to act crazy. You know the type? Anyway, this other guy I met at another casino months ago who I had given 2 bucks to sees me and hands me 21 cents. Tells me sorry that's all he has. I thanked him and decided what I was going to do. Meanwhile my friend starts becoming a pain with "let's just go". I ignore her, sat down at a penny Cleopatra machine. This is when patience paid off. Since I wasn't able to combine the loose change yet, I had to slowly build the ticket till it got up to 79 cents. When I did that I got the cashiers attention (yes for 79 cents) gave her the new ticket and the 21 change and asked for a dollar. About an hour or so goes by and we cashed out over $2,000. Of course before then the first guy who was now tapped out comes around grinning and trying to make a friend. He had nothing coming from me. I gave him a quick lecture and told him had he done the right thing which was hand me the money without me asking or given me the two bucks when I did ask, he would have something still in his pocket.

There's a lot going on inside the casinos folks. You just have to be aware of your surroundings. Yes, there are the can I have a dollar beggars, the big balls can I have $5/10 beggars, the ones waiting for you not to pay attention in order to cash you out, the  I have $30 coming at midnight on my card but I have to go, the pick pockets, the I'll sale you my food stamps 2-1, the dope dealers/users, those that have a swap meet sale going on in the dark part of the casino and the infamous "casino ho's". The last one doesn't need an explanation does it? -peace

...one more thing the word "NO" is the same in 5 different languages. Don't ever feel intimidated. Remember, dogs smell fear. No need to call the law unless it comes down to it. You'll know what's up when suddenly you have your own cheering section. Before that happens, have some of what you're going to spend in your front pocket. Place your wallet in the other front pocket. When moans and groans become unbearable, or comments of I'm hungry, you have  such and such can I get request become demanding, that's when you become Helen Keller. Get it? or better yet, do what I do a lot of times.."hungry?" use your comps go ask if if you have any or you should eat before you come or bring a snack. "Can I get?"  Do I know you? I'm only responsible for one gambler and that's me.  If they curse you out ? Who cares? You've been called worse already haven't you?

Yes, I've read about this practice under the term "slotwalkers". Apparently this is one of the things security keeps a close eye out for. Maybe too close sometimes. I read a story about a senior citizen, a woman in her late seventies, on a casino bus trip who had a run in w/casino personnel over this. Apparently they had spotted her picking up a stray coin from the return tray of a machine she was about to play and confronted her about it. They actually backroomed this poor women over it, harrassed and threatened her, and eventually barred her from any further casino play, forcing her to sit outside in the heat until their return bus arrived while the rest of her group finished out the trip with a nice meal at the buffet. In the end she was forced by the presiding female officer in charge of the interrogation to give up one nickel of her winnings. One nickel, that's apparently what sparked the whole incident. I'd give a link to this, but I don't wanna get banned ...

Actually, the same probably could've happened to me not long ago when I was unwittingly the benefactor of some abandoned credits on a Video Poker machine. I didn't see 'em before I sat down though, honest. The machine was empty and wasn't reserved so I sat down, stuck some money in, and started playing. It was only a minute or two later that I noticed I had substanstially more credits than I had bought in for and hadn't really won any decent hands yet. Still didn't win anything though.

Poppy, damn, I've never heard of anyone being "backed off" from slot machines before! Unless they were being accused of outright cheating like using a monkey-paw or laser light to trigger the payout or something like that. Way to stand your ground. You're an inspiration to me. Think I'll try that approach if I ever find myself at the table w/three or four security guards behind me inviting me to leave. "No. No thanks. Think I'll just keep playing. Dealer, continue.  (of course, I'll call them by the name on their tag though.) Say, you fellas (or ladies) wanna pull up a chair and join me?"

Somehow I don't see that stand working out as well as yours did.

But, as for the guy in my previous post, I didn't really see that guy as a hustler but I guess he probably was. I did think he was full of shit about having turned a few red chips (like 3 or 4 at the most from his first borrowing) into the handful of greens he had when I first caught up with him at the table. Especially after watching him play for a few minutes. And I couldn't believe someone would just throw out a few chips to him at the table either. That I actually witnessed. I'll be more careful around this guy in the future - not that he was going to get any of my chips to begin.
  • Brad, living in Las vegas .. i've been there done that, i'll tell you the rule. If you walk up to a machine, theres credits in it, you put money in it and play it is yours now, reason.. they have no way of knowing if it was deliberate, also you place your money in it to play what was there is now yours (unless by chance someone was playing they went to restroom come back and say hey thats my machine i had money in there and cause a scene lol) other then that theres nothing they can do.

Now if you walk up to a machine and just hit cash-out or play the credits without putting money, then they can get you. Don't grab money from trays until your own coins fall. Abondoned money in, around and on the slots are casinos money.

Finding money on the floor of the casino is a little different, because it could have fell out of someones pocket that was just passing through (still casinos money) but they don't and won't bother you about it. No one picks up money and says, "Hey who dropped this 20.00" if you do you will hear about 20 people yelling "it was mine!" So you see casino can't say it's theirs actually.

These explainations were from a security guard a long time ago, i myself being new to the casino was at the casino bar, underneath i found a tray, with money in it (rejected coin drop), it was alot... Aha i thought i'll just go right along this bar and check these little slots-holes (i was drinking) I really didn't know i was doing anything wrong, a security guard stopped me and told me this. I thanked him for his kindness because as he explained he could of put me through the process, he realized i was new to the gaming world.

So security does know who is who, and what you are doing at all times. He let me keep the money, told me to go enjoy myself, and to not do it again. It's a whole different feeling when you know it is wrong, for me i just don't do it. For some i've seen many and thats all they do, i've even seen one man, pretend with a hand motion as if he was putting in coins but nothing was going in, pushed button and cash-out... crazy.

  • So security does know who is who, and what you are doing at all times

HA! That's a good one...Remember, there's strength in numbers. When you find yourself on hard times or if you just walked in and have an eagle eye, its always best to have have a buddy with you. If you're in a casino that uses tickets it makes it better. All you need is a ticket with a value on it. One penny is the norm. Slide the ticket in and cash out. Standing at the now "hot spot" can be costly. Don't go into an Oscar winning performance of "oh I didn't want to play this one"  crap. Cash it out and keep moving.

I've hit the button a few times in front of staff. In the beginning, I listened to their rehearsed speeches of "its the casinos money" nonsense. I listened a couple of times. After that I let them have it with their own words and their own actions. It usually would go like this..."what do you mean its the casinos money? are you kidding me?  On every machine you have a disclaimer attached that released you of any liability. Your fine print sticker that says "casino is not responsible for money left in the machine" . That message means exactly that. If a customer gets up with a balance left either not knowing they did so or living in fairytale land believing the honesty system works in here, and someone comes by a cashes it out...that note on the machine is the first thing you're going to recite and its the leg you're going to try to stand on. Yet because I see it you want to break your neck to hit the button and tell me it belongs to the casino. Possession may be 9 tenths of the law but it doesn't become yours until its at zero.

As far as that seeing all b.s. goes they can kiss it! At two separate casinos property of ours grew legs and walked away. These places have over 300 cameras. One day it was a nice lined coat, the contents in the pockets and the umbrella. All done the day the bussed in all these new folks on a rainy day. I called for security, begged them to stop the bus from leaving on deaf ears it fell. After going rounds with the inept I realized I was dealing with the keystone cops. It took almost an hour before they realized oh yeah run the tape. I remember telling them of how they told me how many cameras they had and all this crap. How it was funny they could zoom in on the roach grabbing food because they might of thought it was a penny on its back, yet they can't stop a robbery in progress.  Those incidents just put the icing on the cake for me. Whenever I was threaten with bullshit or told  we see everything let us handle it if you have a problem, I usually come back with, oh yeah that's right you guys are still investigating the coat. Got any leads?

...I've confronted a few folks that got too close to me. You know when your spider man senses start tingling danger, danger. I looked them dead in the eye and told each of them, if you think you're going to come up by jacking me think again. Forget security, I'll drag your ass behind this machine and beat the shit out of you.  One day i repeated an incident to security. They told me that we both would be kicked out. To that I replied, are you serious? I already know coming into this place its enter at my own risk. Because I sure can't count security to protect me. Hell everyman for himself and God for us all. They do know who's who, but pay attention to the derelicts with free reign on one end  who are untouched and the "diamond card " member on the other who's overly protected. On the way way out my friend spots a $100 chip on the floor and bends to get it. Chip didn't get a chance to rest before she was chased down. Few weeks later I was playing blackjack the dealer just happens to let a $25 chip go off the table right when this girl goes by. They give each other the nod and its bye bye chip.

..One more thing, Brad don't forget the casino is like those fair weather friends who go to a party and hang around the keg. Once the keg is dry their out of there. Once they sense someones broke beware of the goon squad. Because then the parties over.  lol
  • Nice reading poppy, loved it, and very true.. i just didn't put the details. What i should of said was, "so security knows who is who, and what you are doing at all times, they just respond when they want to, and don't always make the right calls"

An incident i'll never forget happened to me, in a casino. Once i was walking through looking to find a dollar machine to play, it was a saturday and very busy. There was a long row of some fun machines which towards the end there was 2 seats available (now earlier these were full) so i made a quick dash to one of those seats. There was a lady standing like inbetween 2 machines, i asked if she was playing this one. She said yea i was but its not doing good, she moved over to infront of her machine. As i sat down i saw coins in the tray, (these machines are the ones like sitting at a desk table, flat.. not the verticle type) and said ma'am you have money in here. She said in a loud voice "Oh my money!!" I told her while she removed the money i was going to use the RR, that i would be right back, to watch the machine for me, she said no problem. I put my jacket on the chair and also placed a cup over the machine and left to the RR, which was about 40 ft away.

As i walked out of the RR, security wisked me to this room, i was scared to death and had no idea what was going on. They asked for my ID, and at that time asked if i had ever been casino banned. I told them i have never been in trouble in my life, almost crying and scared trying to find out what was going on. He walked to a back room with my ID. I hear them in a huddle one saying "it's not her" and another saying "the lady said she didn't do anything".

I had 2100.00 wad in my pocket, my ID wallet, and cell (i don't carry purses in casino i use only pockets). They came back explaining that i looked like a girl that was banned for soliciting. Apologising and offering me compensation such as free meal and hotel stay, the blah blah, all in short i was extremely upset. I was in this room for over 45 minutes. Being hovered with 5 security men.

Though i did nothing wrong, i still felt embarressed by this treatment, there was nothing that was going to compensate that, i already felt uncomfortable even though they were just doing their job. They were nice and i did feel they were doing all they can do to comfort me.

They let me go and i walked back out to over where my jacket was, luckily it's still there and the lady was still watching the machine. I apologised to the lady, told her i got held-up, i didn't want to say what all happened, but she told me security had asked her what did i do and say to her. I thanked her and got my jacket and left. Just too uncomfortable and upset to be there. I know it was a mistake.. but still, this is something i'll never forget.

  • ..One more thing, Brad don't forget the casino is like those fair weather friends who go to a party and hang around the keg. Once the keg is dry their out of there. Once they sense someones broke beware of the goon squad. Because then the parties over.  lol [purple]

Yeah, I have no intention of getting too close to casino personnel. I'll be friendly with them of course, but not friends with them. It's too risky for me. I'm not worried about them too much when I'm losing or broke; it's when I'm putting their money in my pockets that I have to really pay attention.

There's only been 1 incident where I might have involved security, but I didn't even bother. $200 dollars came up missing from my front pocket, which was not very deep so it was probably visible to anybody standing close to me. There was a remote chance someone picked it from my  pocket but more likely I just accidentally dropped it in the restroom. Pretty damn sure the restroom attendant got a bonus that day, though he would never admitt it. I figured it was useless to get security involved at that point so I just chalked it up to a lesson learned. Gotta keep my money more secure and pay more attention to what's going in and out of my pockets.

And I've picked up those 1 cent or 5 cent uncashed tickets you see laying around too. I just try to be careful when I do it. You can never quite know when the eye is watching though.
  • Brad, my story reflects that in a way, see i beleive they didn't want to tell me they actually thought i was bucket - looking. Me pulling out all that money, and the lady telling them i did nothing. So they came up with this other story. Why would they even speak with the lady? I was very nieve back then and til i learned alot more, put it together. I think you are watched for everything you do. Theres no doubt.

  • Man, imagination! That was the time to use your imagination and act like you lost your ever loving mind! Think about it for a second (putting on devil's advocate hat), ...there are far too many people in the grave due to mistaken identity. Defamation, of ones character because some one needs their eyes checked, think "folks" all look alike, wanted to get a closer look and/or need someone to blame to save their jobs so tag your it...doesn't cut it. Something was up with those guys. Even if you were on taxi cab confessionals baring all so what? They're not vice. Those freebies they give away like bad advice does not suffice the embarrassment and half ass CSI wannabe routine. I never knew why casinos think offering monopoly money, free tickets to stand in line in an overcrowded restaurant and or the regular room you get free anyway (not the suite) is equivalent to the price of gold. They even get offended when you say "excuse me?"..your porridge is kibbles and bits mofo.

..Sorry got off track for a second. Sue the bastards. Your picture is on file. Your info could be floating out in tv/net land. Wish I was there. We both would have our names on the deed.

At first I thought you were going to tell a story of fighting over a seat (got a plenty), or how the lady bounced with your coat (told that one), or how after being pulled away for utter b.s. the lady threw the coins in your machine she was saving and now she was filling out the paperwork for the jackpot...

In California our major casinos are on Indian territory. I got banned from a casino for complaining to the Tribal Chairman. In a nutshell, they owed me big time and refused to cough it up. Tried to brush me to the side. I saw the head dude one day approached him we chatted for a few, he told  them to give me what I had asked for and to make it right. They said yes all the while grinning and sucking up. He leaves and drives away. That's when the air shifted and it became danger danger. Whisked away into the dark hall picture taken and told you are hereby banned for  15 months because you disturbed Daniel tucker and he's a busy man. Told my friend could stay, but I had to go. Told the chick I've been kicked out of better establishments. Suddenly it clicked. I believed I had rocked the boat and was probably close to exposing them for possible embezzlement. Told Tucker went rounds. Mom  became ill so I backed off...but now I'm thinking about it. mmmmm ...its better to be pissed off than pissed on, but banned and pissed off sucks royally.

...Years ago took some employees to Disneyland who had never been and it turned out to be a disaster. Went to city hall to complain and was shown the door by this Little old lady who had free passes  for me. Now, pissed off and close to being kicked out from " the happiest place on earth" because I wasn't happy. Decided to suck it up for the workers all the while feeling cheated, used, abused & dismissed without a kiss. Moral of poppy's fable? It shouldn't matter where one chooses to patronize. What does matter is the color "green" and that a good time was had by all. Treat people with respect and the green will flow. Take 'em for granted and to court and/or the poorhouse those places will go.

  • LMAO.. oh i might do that now.. but seriously.. i just wanted to get out of there, thats all that was on my mind. I was alone and scared. Just something i was not used to. So much i thought about after i left and with others advice and comments.. i could of done a hella storm on them.

Poppy i appreciate you sticking up for me, that is very ammendable and honorable. Thank you, it also makes that situation feel alot better, i was wronged and i know it now, but then i didn't, being very nieve and shy.. just there trying to have a goodtime. I wish you were there with me!

  • I'm glad you got out of there with your loot and your sanity. It could of gone south you know? After all, you took a left turn before you even warmed the seat.
