    CHICAGO (AP) — For millions of people enduring this week's extreme heat and humidity, it feels like they're living in a pressure cooker. And in a sense, they are.

    Much of the United States is trapped under a heat "dome" caused by a huge area of high pressure that's compressing hot, moist air beneath it, leading to miserable temperatures in the mid-90s to low 100s and heat-index levels well above 100 degrees.

    It is usually in the 100s here in California, how hot was it where you are?

    Dallas is in the 100's every single day. It's like ground hog day. No weatherman required for that city.

    Good ole Chicago has had a sweltering week of heat and what worries me is the violent storms that come in the aftermath of such a heat wave. So common because the temps fluctuate form hot to cold.

    I love the summer but not when i have to be barricaded in. Might as well be 50 below zero. Same results with being house bound.

    For the past few weeks, we have not seen anything about 90 degrees and mainly it's in the low 80 to high 70's. (West Coast)

    I hate the hot weather, but I'm hoping it lasts for another week since they won't disconnect my electricity if there is a severe weather situation going on.  I need more time to fish some cash out of the extremely hot thin air!

    Heat index 110.  Highs 103 all this week.  104 for Wednesday.  After midnight, still 86 degrees outside.

    Anyone from the desert states . Arizona .. the humidity in the Mississippi valley is like walking out of your air conditioned home and hitting a wall of heat . Hard to breathe even , the local metropolitan news had warnings for people with infants and small children out in it.. i do know if i had an infant i would do my best to avoid exposing them to this , i certainly am one that would rather have a foot of snow than this.
