My Dryer ate my sock!!!

Hi Gang:

    I did some laundry today.

Two socks entered the washer. Two socks entered the dryer. Only one sock comes out :-\

As household tasks go, what could be simpler? A pair of socks should go from drawer to feet to dirty clothes pile to washer to dryer and back into the drawer.
      It never happens this way.
    Anyone associated with a family knows the truth. Socks do disappear. Virtually every residence in the free world has a drawer, pile or basket of mismatched socks. Millions - no, billions - of socks drift aimlessly without. Where do they go???

"DRYERS EAT SOCKS!!!!"      It's the "DRYER DEMON!!!"

He's a hungry demon, liking nothing better than to feast on warm cotton. He won't dine on big things like jeans or T-shirts, perhaps out of fear or maybe because he's a light eater, and he won't eat underwear, possibly because even demons have some sense of decency. So he confines his meals to socks,  one or two at a time.

Does the DRYER DEMON live in your dryer too?

As a side note, my dryer seems to shrink my clothes over a period of time, such as winter.  When pulling out my clothes for this Summer season , none fit as they did last Summer. Gotta be the dryer.

ROFLMAO!.......Just finished putting my days washing away; OK...2 days washing, lol and it's now just a matter of course to put several FAVOURITE!!!!!! sock/ into the "what I call...the lonely socks club drawer"! Is it my Dryer?? Noooooo.....My monster of a Washing Machine! 2 socks go in..wash...spin...I open the lid..and BEHOLD!! ( 1 ) ONE..UNO...SOLO....Lonely "MY FAVOURITE DANG SOCK!" comes out!???? Hey PMM....we should get our White goods together and just maybe we might have a pair??? lol.... ::) ::)

My Dryers favorite flavor is WHITE SOCK!!!
      I have so many socks that no longer have friends. I just dont get it. 
I am so glad I am not the only one out there who experiences this phenonenon.

Check your closet...

It is a documented fact that white socks are the Larva stage for wire coat hangers. When you heat them in a dryer and apply spin a temporal shift occurs and one sock will metamorphose as well as doppler shift into its new incarnation as a fresh new wire hanger in your closet.



(Disclaimer: this SWAG (Sceintific Wild Assed Guess) is completly unconfirmed. The alternate theory that the metamorphic transformation is into a paper clip is still just a common WAG)

        Sock Abyss?

Don't the socks left behind miss their twin? I feel bad for the sock left behind. It is always hard to lose someone close to you.

  Should we just match up the single socks to the other single socks as long as they look similar?  Will anyone really notice?

Omg....lmaoooo.....i lose socks...panties...and on ocassions...clothes! I swear there is a ghost in my house that has a thing for fashion!

I know for sure........i have the remote control ghost....always leaving my remote control and the oddest places! Keys..yep...i got a ghost who lovesss my keys too!

I don't mind sharing these things...but why can't they just put them back where they belong!!!!!

LOL.....I used to have the same problem, and then I hated so much shifting through my daughters 20 differnt kinds my boyfriends 5 and then my own.....yes i'm very anal about folding socks....well at the end of every load of whites I would have about 10-15 different socks laying there with no matches!!! I finally decided one day to go through the ENTIRE house and throw away every single sock I could find, then I went to the store and bought my daughter a 10 pack of purple toe socks, my boyfriend a 10 pack of grey toe socks, and myself a 10 pack of pink toe socks. Ever since I have done this it literally takes me 5 mins. to fold socks, compared to the 30-40 mins. it used to take me, and very shockingly.....THEY ALL HAVE MATCHES!!!!

Don't know how many times I lost them,  and I buy expensive ones $8-$13. a pair, so it really kills me when I lose one.

Last time I did laundry, when I was taking out the pile out of the dryer, I saw one go
flying over the top, behind the dryer.  You should have seen me jump on top of the washer, trying to reach back there..(those socks cost me too much to lose)

After almost killing myself getting down there, I found 3 of them!!

I don't think it is the dryer, i think the sock just gets pissed off and leaves
It's the socks society and community of relationships and marriages that fail in the sock world, just gets fed up.
When he gets his chance he dodges out of town.
I think somewhere theres a Sock Tavern, all the socks that high-tailed it
are just living it up, just as merry as can be

Now for the "Helpful Hint of The Day"

If you own your own dryer, then pull it away from the wall and remove the back.

You might find a surprise stash of cash there.

I recalled I had to repair our dryer years ago. Found $40 bucks (2 $20's) and a few pennies and nickles also. Kenmore types are common for doing this sort of thing.
