My pet store is giving me a headache!!!

        Hi Gang:

            Recently went to my local pet foods supplier for my weekly pet supplies.  I always use my debit card. I watched the amount calculate, used my discount card card and used a few coupons. I noted the final amount as $43.94. A day later upon checking my bank account online, my debit card was charged three times for this same transaction.  I only got one reciept.

                How does this happen?

        It is so frustrating. I called the place, explained the situation, and although they say they have credited my account (that remains to be seen) I got no apology what so-ever. They had to look into it, as they put it.

                So lets see, I had to call my bank, get money transferred over from savings to cover the extra charges , because although a sale will post over night, a credit transaction takes 3-5 days to post.  Grrrrrr.  So I am on the phone with the bank, on the phone with the pet store, back and forth, back and forth.  Again, no apology.

              I guess the reason I am sharing this is if you don't keep a close eye on your bank account, I believe this type of thing happens all to often. If I had not checked, my bank account, this would of been a bigger mess.  It could of lead to bounced checks and over draft fees.  Keep a close eye on your bank account.
            I caught this error in time, but I know there are people out there that have not been so lucky. 

                    Anyone have a overcharged nightmare story?

        No, but I hit a Win-co, bought about $100 worth of groceries and came home and checked account and found I'd been double charged. But then I refreshed the page and saw that the checker saw it quickly and refunded the extra (All before I got home too!)charge.

        But it didn't hurt but have heard about how banks will "Select" checks by size first and then the lessor ones and thus, incurring lots of overdrafts...Sneaky bastards

        Hi Pam,

        I have a thread posted on this somewhere already...this is really bad.  Sometimes when we make a debit at a casino (or probably anywhere else) if we are not patient, and hit the button more than once, it will debit your account as many times as you hit it.  I am sure the stores probably may run your card thru more than once, and the same problem will exist.

        Initially I thought it was a casino taking money twice, but 9 out of 10 times it is our own fault this is happening.  So when I make deposits on line, I usually make them in odd numbers like 352.  and  349. so when I check my statement its easier to see if there are any dupes.

        As far as your Pet Store Clerk is concerned..bitch..should definately have appologized to you, I would have been pissed.  I don't know if these people just don't have a clue, or just don't care...maybe one day when it happens to them.  I am a firm believer in karma.
