Recently went to my local pet foods supplier for my weekly pet supplies. I always use my debit card. I watched the amount calculate, used my discount card card and used a few coupons. I noted the final amount as $43.94. A day later upon checking my bank account online, my debit card was charged three times for this same transaction. I only got one reciept.
How does this happen?
It is so frustrating. I called the place, explained the situation, and although they say they have credited my account (that remains to be seen) I got no apology what so-ever. They had to look into it, as they put it.
So lets see, I had to call my bank, get money transferred over from savings to cover the extra charges , because although a sale will post over night, a credit transaction takes 3-5 days to post. Grrrrrr. So I am on the phone with the bank, on the phone with the pet store, back and forth, back and forth. Again, no apology.
I guess the reason I am sharing this is if you don't keep a close eye on your bank account, I believe this type of thing happens all to often. If I had not checked, my bank account, this would of been a bigger mess. It could of lead to bounced checks and over draft fees. Keep a close eye on your bank account.
I caught this error in time, but I know there are people out there that have not been so lucky.
Anyone have a overcharged nightmare story?
