I want to first thank you all for your concerns. I have no one to blame but myself and all those processed foods I consumed. Yes, this is going to be a heck of a lifestyle change, but if I want to see more of this world (Or experience it) then such changes must be made and will be.
I have come to consider everyone here a friend in many ways, each unique and precious. I do hope this relationship will continue for some time to come. -

Holy crap Gene!!!!
Thank God you are alright! I almost choked on my breakfast when I read this. That was very scary. You really have to start eating better. I know it cost more, you were right , I am doing it myself...it cost a forture to eat right. I was going to respond to your other thread, but never got around to it. By the looks of it, there is very good reason for it.
Please be careful we want to keep you around here.

((((Gene))) Thank you for letting us all know so that we could send prayers and good thoughts your way. SO glad you came out of this ok, although, "lifestyle changes" as far as a more healthy way to live, can be a bit of a drag BUT....this was most certainly one of those little taps on the shoulder to get your attention....and do better with the time you have left...., which will be MANY more years....right?!

I'm doing very well, have to get ready for major purchase of drugs and such.
I read this chain every so often and I see that the quote from "It's a Wonderful Life" is true.
"Remember George, No man is a failure who has friends."
I obviously have made many and never really realized it..Until now -

Instead of making another topic, I have come to find, not all Pharmacies are really worth trusting.
After the Hospital, I checked with Walgreens for cost. Minus one, but the bill still would ahve been $220-$243 for it all.
I then went to Wal-Mart and they dropped it (At first) to $100.43. Today I went in and paid....$45 for 7 meds which I guess the one for $60+ had either gone generic, or WM got some sort of deal on.
The end result is I probably will not have to move from the place I am at. I am still reeling from this unexpected bonus. Now when I get the Nurse Practionier, I'll get 2 months worth.
Don't care what people say about WM, they're helping me afford my life!!!! -

Meds are outrageous thats for sure gene. I have always heard Walmart is tough to beat when it comes to their pharmacy.
I am sorry to hear about your struggle. I hope you don't have to move........i hope it all works out for you. Have you thought about purchasing meds online? Not even sure if its an option for the type of meds you need. But i maybe worth looking into.

$45 for 7 meds is very reasonable. It's cheaper than you would pay over here. In the UK they have a set price for each prescription - no matter how much the actual pills cost.
So glad you got them that cheaply Genenco and you say you don't have to move now so I'm really glad about that too. That would certainly be the last thing you would be needing to worry about right now with everything else on your plate.
I hope all goes well for you and you keep doing what the doc tells you to do.

More chuckles. I got the hospital bill, though they are "Talking" reductions, I'm laughing about the total so far as it's just way more then I can pay.
Just about $46,000 (Hospital, Doc fees and EMS) I will start buying the lottery, because that's the ONLY way I could ever pay them back. I thought it was funny as I already had $30,000 in negs on my credit report right now.
Sad thing is, until I am employed, I can't even consider declaring bankruptcy. Reason is, if I do and have another attack before I get a job and insurance, then I'm stuck for 7-10 years and that's just too long.
Well, keep the fingers crossed folks...Maybe a miracle in soon coming to me -

hi gene,
i have been wondering how you were doing. better i hope!!
you shouldn't be worrying about things like exhorbant medical bills.
if anything, you should be entitled to freecare. here are a couple places for free healthcare to call to get your bill worked out, or future free health care issues.
www.findahealthcenter.hrsa.gov
or
if you do not have insurance, or a way to pay the bill...there is a federal grant
called the hill-burton act. i do not know if everyone is entitled to this, but i think so.
1-800-638-0742
You can call to find out, or check the website. Just google it.
If there is no Hill-Burton Obligated Facility nearby:
If you owe bills or need care, contact the department of social services at the hospital where you were or intend to be treated and your county department of social services to see if they can help you.
If you need help paying for prescription medications, see the Partnership for Patient Assistance.
Plus...big thing you should know...they cannot hold medical bills against your credit
it is illegal.
Good luck. Nal

Gene,
The last thing you need to worry about right now are the damn medical bills. Get yourself healthy and don't stress. Stress will drive you deeper in poor health. You will get out of this and there are plenty of programs to assist you.
You don't need a miracle......you already had one....you here alive and getting well!!

that's true lips, but bills that size definately do stress people out.
and another thing...they do not get paid on there own...programs or not.
if they are not applied to a program, then they will go into collections.
that will be cause for more stress. i am trying to alleviate a lot of this for him.
generally you only have so many days after discharge to apply for certain freecare programs, or you lose them!
then he will be liable for 46,000 of bills he doesn't need to be paying. :o -

OMG - I just can't get over the fact that you have to pay that kind of money because you were in hospital.
Some great info posted by Nalgenie there Genenco. I hope that you are able to get the help that you need to sort this out. As she says, the stress will not help at all.
I know I often say "here in the UK" BUT..... here in the UK, if you are sick and you go to hospital, you don't have to pay any bills afterwards at all.
I hope you manage to sort it Genenco.
