  • wondering where were you last couple days, now I know.  Glad that you feel better now geneco

  • I want to first thank you all for your concerns. I have no one to blame but myself and all those processed foods I consumed. Yes, this is going to be a heck of a lifestyle change, but if I want to see more of this world (Or experience it) then such changes must be made and will be.

I have come to consider everyone here a friend in many ways, each unique and precious. I do hope this relationship will continue for some time to come.

  • Thanks Gene and I will be checking on you, so you make sure you take care of yourself and eat healthy, the three B's, Bake, Broil and Boil!  cool

  • Oh no Gene, I hope you feel better soon! That is serious stuff...take care of yourself!

  • Holy crap Gene!!!!

Thank God you are alright!  I almost choked on my breakfast when I read this.  That was very scary.  You really have to start eating better.  I know it cost more, you were right , I am doing it myself...it cost a forture to eat right.  I was going to respond to your other thread, but never got around to it.  By the looks of it,  there is very good reason for it.
Please be careful we want to keep you around here.

      love  Nal  8)

  • That's a heck of a thing to go through Gene and I'm really glad you're doing better.  Now keep getting better will ya!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Thank God Gene you are ok. Please take care of yourself we all enjoy having you here on the forum. It will be a lifestyle change but one that will keep you healthy and happy.

  • ((((Gene)))  Thank you for letting us all know so that we could send prayers and good thoughts your way.  SO glad you came out of this ok, although, "lifestyle changes" as far as a more healthy way to live, can be a bit of a drag  wink  BUT....this was most certainly one of those little taps on the shoulder to get your attention....and do better with the time you have left...., which will be MANY more years....right?!

  • just got on after awhile off the scene be careful and folllow that diet you were lucky lost both my parents from heartattacks and my father inlaw from stoke after stroke take care of yourself and my prayers are with you it is not easy to change a lifestyle.  good luck

  • omg geneco --take care of you--im really glad you are back and feel better.
    My prayers are with you

  •   It is a scary thing for sure. Glad you are able to write about it. I will try to use this "wake-up" for the best. Instead of feeling sorry for myself that I have no "cigs", I'm gonna start the Nicorette now.

  • Praise God you're ok now better lay off the gambling for awhile if you hit big you might have an other episode! we like having you around!! love ya man!!!!

  • Gene

  • I'm doing very well, have to get ready for major purchase of drugs and such.

I read this chain every so often and I see that the quote from "It's a Wonderful Life" is true.

"Remember George, No man is a failure who has friends."

I obviously have made many and never really realized it..Until now grin

  • Hi Gene, just knowing you are doing better makes me smile  cheesy, oh I won't discuss politics with you yet....lol but really Gene hope your day is full of smiles.  Take care of yourself, we are all depending on it!

  • Instead of making another topic, I have come to find, not all Pharmacies are really worth trusting.

After the Hospital, I checked with Walgreens for cost. Minus one, but the bill still would ahve been $220-$243 for it all.

I then went to Wal-Mart and they dropped it (At first) to $100.43. Today I went in and paid....$45 for 7 meds which I guess the one for $60+ had either gone generic, or WM got some sort of deal on.

The end result is I probably will not have to move from the place I am at. I am still reeling from this unexpected bonus. Now when I get the Nurse Practionier, I'll get 2 months worth.

Don't care what people say about WM, they're helping me afford my life!!!!

  • Meds are outrageous thats for sure gene. I have always heard Walmart is tough to beat when it comes to their pharmacy.

I am sorry to hear about your struggle. I hope you don't have to move........i hope it all works out for you. Have you thought about purchasing meds online? Not even sure if its an option for the type of meds you need. But i maybe worth looking into.

$45 for 7 meds is very reasonable.   It's cheaper than you would pay over here.  In the UK they have a set price for each prescription - no matter how much the actual pills cost.

So glad you got them that cheaply Genenco and you say you don't have to move now so I'm really glad about that too.  That would certainly be the last thing you would be needing to worry about right now with everything else on your plate.

I hope all goes well for you and you keep doing what the doc tells you to do.

I'm glad they let you come back to work. Many companies would prefer that someone like this was retired smiley
  • yeah i know but i`m only 57 southwest is a good company and good to see you up take care gene

  • Im sorry 4 expressing my concern a little late genenco. I am having 2 skim through all the topics on my mobile so its taking quite awhile 2 catch up. I am so glad u didnt die. Besides the fact that u r an awesome peson & a true asset 2 LCB, U R ALSO THE 1 WITH THE CATNIP!

  • Believe it or not kitty I was getting worried about you also. You too are also an asset here like many. I am saddened by the occurances that have hit you, but like me, you come back shining. Glad to have you here grin

  • miss kitty your back i`m so glad we all face trying times but somehow we all come out okay one thing about open heart surgery i do not wish that on my worst enemies now i must go out to buy more meow mix 4 you............ good to have you back

  • More chuckles. I got the hospital bill, though they are "Talking" reductions, I'm laughing about the total so far as it's just way more then I can pay.

Just about $46,000 (Hospital, Doc fees and EMS) I will start buying the lottery, because that's the ONLY way I could ever pay them back. I thought it was funny as I already had $30,000 in negs on my credit report right now.

Sad thing is, until I am employed, I can't even consider declaring bankruptcy. Reason is, if I do and have another attack before I get a job and insurance, then I'm stuck for 7-10 years and that's just too long.

Well, keep the fingers crossed folks...Maybe a miracle in soon coming to me grin

  • hi gene,

i have been wondering how you were doing.  better i hope!!

you shouldn't be worrying about things like exhorbant medical bills.

if anything, you should be entitled to freecare.  here are a couple places for free healthcare to call to get your bill worked out, or future free health care issues.

    www.findahealthcenter.hrsa.gov

    or

if you do not have insurance, or a way to pay the bill...there is a federal grant
called the hill-burton act.  i do not know if everyone is entitled to this, but i think so.

    1-800-638-0742

You can call to find out, or check the website.  Just google it.

If there is no Hill-Burton Obligated Facility nearby:

If you owe bills or need care, contact the department of social services at the hospital where you were or intend to be treated and your county department of social services to see if they can help you.

If you need help paying for prescription medications, see the Partnership for Patient Assistance.

Plus...big thing you should know...they cannot hold medical bills against your credit
    it is illegal.

    Good luck.   cool  Nal

  • Gene,

The last thing you need to worry about right now are the damn medical bills. Get yourself healthy and don't stress. Stress will drive you deeper in poor health. You will get out of this and there are plenty of programs to assist you.

You don't need a miracle......you already had one....you here alive and getting well!!

    Lips
  • that's true lips, but bills that size definately do stress people out.

and another thing...they do not get paid on there own...programs or not.

if they are not applied to a program, then they will go into collections.
that will be cause for more stress.  i am trying to alleviate a lot of this for him.

generally you only have so many days after discharge to apply for certain freecare programs, or you lose them!

then he will be liable for 46,000 of bills he doesn't need to be paying.  :o

OMG - I just can't get over the fact that you have to pay that kind of money because you were in hospital.

Some great info posted by Nalgenie there Genenco.  I hope that you are able to get the help that you need to sort this out.  As she says, the stress will not help at all.

I know I often say "here in the UK" BUT..... here in the UK, if you are sick and you go to hospital, you don't have to pay any bills afterwards at all.

I hope you manage to sort it Genenco.
