Well, it happened finally. My poor abused, spilled on, dropped and (At  times) kicked laptop has died. In trying to fix it, it simply fell further apart. I then knew it was time to buy another one. So off I went to Jantzen Beach (Oregon no sales tax) and arrived at BB with 30 min before closing.

I first stopped at CS and applied for an account, not sure if I was going to be approved (2 years ago, I was denied) so I was a bit surprised when I was told "You're approved" the bigger surprise was I was given $1,500 in credit.

So, in short order I selected a new laptop ($279.00 which my last one was $350) and some software and I then went to check out. After they rang the total I then USED MY REGULAR CREDIT CARD AND NOT THE NEW BB ACCOUNT!!!

Not too worried, but why6 the hell did I do that when I was able to have no interest for 6 months?? (Had I bought a better system (Over $460) it would have been 18 months interest free....Sigh, I guess I AM crazy!

Awww Genenco.  What a bummer.  Could you not have done a refund and then paid with your new credit card?

Genenco.. buying a new pc can be very tramatic on the brain, you're suffering from " why did I do that syndrome"for instance your  symptoms start just after the old pc is on it's last days, lasts about 2 months, the peak of this syndrome, is when you handed over the wrong credit card, you'll have a bit of shock and confusion when you realize how crazy that was, but soon enough all these symtoms go back to just lurking about until the next attack of "now why did I do that?", sadly to say more and more comes about..

congrats on your new pc, I just bought a new one myself although not a replacement just a secondary

I feel for ya...all my computers...laptop and otherwise have  been hand me downs and i have enough computer knowledge to make them work

My 10 year old laptop finally breathed its last breath a couple of months ago. :'(  A week before my start in going back to college...i was totally bummed cause i needed a computer really bad.

So i called my brother who is a senior partner in a very successful law firm.  Even though I am pretty low income i never ask him for anything. Well anyways I asked him if he had a laptop lying around with software problems he could give me.  I would fix it.  He called me the next day...and said he and his wife would buy me a laptop but not too pricey.  Well my budget was 1200   . So instead of getting the nicer laptop  I got a fancy printer, a wireless router and a 800 laptop..It came to just under 1200.  I was so excited.  What a nlce brother.  But all is going well with him..we call him the golden boy....<3  Everything he touches, like midas, turns to gold

I’m in the same boat. I have about 4 computers lying around all of which are in bad shape. It’s time to take the plunge and just get a new one. It’s a scary and costly process!

My old laptop died this February after almost 8 years of a very good service. and honestly, I was happy to buy a new one so I understand completely your confusion genenco.

Could you use that new card to buy something else?

You should have asked for a refund and used their card. I'm surprised they didn't ask if you had an account when you got to the register. It might have rang a bell. Oh well, use it for something else.
