        Hiya Guys and Dolls,

I fully believe that we can have visitations from loved ones that have passed. Anytime someone told me that there was strange things happening in their house i was the first to jump on it and say it is def a spiritual visitation.

But when it started to happen to me after my mom passed i was my own worst critic looking for every excuse that it can't possibly be her. My mom and i use to talk about it all the time and she would say for sure she will come visit me since i so believe in it.

About two weeks or so after she passed it happened..........

I was on my puter when the doorbell rang. Now i have one of those doorbells that play several ding dong melodies but it never worked properly. If someone rings the doorbell all i hear is a ding dong.

That day a full blown song blared through the doorbell. A bit surprised i went to the front door and no one was there. I went outside thinking maybe it was kids and looked all around but there was not a soul in sight.

The thought did flash through my mind could it be her? I dismissed the idea until it started to happen on a regular basis. I always know when no one is there because of the melody. So i did a Google search on ringing doorbells and found it was one of the most prominent ways for the other side to communicate.

One of the reasonable explanations for it did say it could be from extreme cold that could trigger it, well that doesn't hold true cuz it just rang last week in the sweltering heat. The other was maybe there is a short in the bell, for as long as i had that doorbell i don't think there is a sudden short.

Have you ever felt or had strange happenings in your house and believe the other side can communicate with us?

I believe too Lips.My hubby teases me because one of my fav. shows is ghost hunters.

I've had stange things happen to me since I was 4,usually something to do with my twin brothers.

I also have had dreams come true and unforunately they are almost always about planes that crash.I hate it in a way because I'll have one and the next day...there it is on the news.

I know it's not the same thing as what you are going thru but I think your Mom is letting you know she is ok and still with you.

I think it's very possible but I always tend to be skeptical. I've heard breathing, well actually more of a sigh. I would get up and look around. Funny how I wasn't scared but it never crossed my mind that it was anything. It happened several times and I know someone was visiting me.

The oddest thing that ever happened to me was a dream. I was on a mountain or more of a huge hill with hundreds maybe even thousands of people that I didn't know. We were all walking downhill and they started to fall off. One here and one there. I was horrified. The next week 9/11 hit and the images of people jumping from buildings was so oddly similar.

It's always good to believe that the loved ones are still with us, that give us comfort and makes things easier, as much as that's possible.

I sure know the pain of loosing a loved one.  I lost a parent the first of this year, and I am still grieving.

However, being "visited" by the dearly departed is simply the brain in "wishful-thinking" mode.  The human brain does interesting things...

Thinking we hear or see things, or seeing a blury image in some ghost hunter show is hardly proof of being visited by the dead.  We WISH it were true, but it is nonsense.

I personally don't think it's nonsense.  I can't bring myself to go into details but something happened to me and my sis a few years ago now.  We still talk about it.

wmmeden and blueday.....I truly thank you for the sincere words of sympathy.  But...my mother was a mean, toxic person.  Growing up, she was a drunk and a monsterous abuser.  And, yes, there is some sense of loss to have one's mother die, I certainly do not miss her and frankly thrilled I am her sole heir so I have more money to gamble with and spend on wild women.  Ahhh....the joys of debauchery!!!!

I am a believer from personal experience... but I do wonder if the "wishful thinking" is not on your part Mind Doc? If the woman you are still grieving for is the same woman you described in the second quote above you might well hope our "loved ones" are not around after death.

Lips I'm sorry for your loss. Same here. Untill i can see it first handed and even then i might still question it. Harry Houdini also questioned life after death here what he said In the 1920s, after the death of his mother, Houdini began focusing his energy on debunking psychics and mediums. Ashamed of having masqueraded as a medium during his medicine show days, Houdini began making notes for a book. However, to prove that he did have an open mind, the magician made a pact with his friends that when he died, he would make contact, if at all possible, from the other side. He devised a secret code with his wife Bess so that only she could divine the legitimacy of the message.
Not long after his death, the “Houdini Séances” began with Bess Houdini offering $10,000 to anyone who could help contact her husband. In 1928, a man named Arthur Ford announced that he had received a message from Houdini himself. After reviewing the message, Bess Houdini validated the message as one that indeed used the code shared between her and her husband.  Was it a lucky guess or did Houdini really contacted this guy.

kattboots....I was referring to my father.  Your game of "gotcha" is very disturbing.

Belief in ghosts and spirits?  Really?  Come on folks.  The mind can really work in a way where people believe they "really, truly, actually" had an odd or paranormal experience.  But, it is all in the mind.  With no basis in fact or reality.

I'm sorry for your loss, Lips.
I firmly believe in signs.. you just have to be aware and allow your mind to be open.

Last week, I was driving to pick up my son from basketball.  It was a pure black night with not a star in the sky.

I looked up and said..all alone..."Mom, if you're okay, show me a star, just one star.".
I drove, looking in the sky and nothing.  Leaned out the window...nothing.
I pulled in front of the high school, a little sad, and looked up.  There was a single star, right in my line of vision, twinkling brightly.  I stared at in for a full 30 seconds and the tears came.  I reached down for a tissue, wiped my eyes, looked back to the star....and it was gone.

No doubt in my mind that was my mom...letting me know she was okay.

I think what it comes down to is there are two types of people in this world, those that have experienced visitations or have psychic abilities and those who don't.

If you never had premonitions, dreams that come true or an experience that defies all reasoning you are going to be a skeptic. I think we ALL have the gift of psychic ability to a degree but it's those who are more open minded to it that it happens to.

It can completely be a taboo subject to talk about with certain people if they don't believe because they will think you are off your rocker.

Blue - i can understand why you won't share your experience either because it was too emotional or some may say you lost your mind. But trust me i get it all too well and i too have procrastinated to even discuss what i am certain is my mom.

Gabby -  i 100 percent believe it was your mom........they come around when we need it most.

Kynettie - love the story about Houdini way too cool and thanks for sharing it! I think it is very possible it could have been message from the other side or how else did this man know the secret message? I wonder what the secret message was?

Lips - you nailed it when you said "too emotional".  It really was an extremely tough time in my life and one that I still find so hard to talk about even though it was so many years ago.

I totally understand your hestitation or "procrastination" to talk about your Mom and the things that have been going on for you right now.  I have said it before and I will say it again, you are a braver woman than I.

Can I ask you a question though...if you don't want to answer, I will totally understand.  Do you find the goings on with the door bell quite comforting in a strange sort of way?
