These kind of deeds are truthful only if nobody knows you've done it. I like that thin line between showing off and a true kindness.

I agree Markotik, you have to conceal your identity if you want to do something like this, otherwise it would be just showing off.

This is very surprising, I doubt I would even bother going back to a place where I lost something.

A photo of a New York City police officer giving new boots to a barefoot homeless man in Times Square has created an online sensation.

The NYPD posted the photo of officer Lawrence DePrimo kneeling to help the man put on the boots to their Facebook page. By Thursday morning, the photo had been shared more than 82,000 times and liked more than 329,000 times.

Jennifer Foster of Florence, Ariz., says she was visiting Times Square with her husband on Nov. 14 when they saw a shoeless man asking for change. As she approached the man, she said a police officer came onto the scene. Foster took a photo and forwarded it and a note to the NYPD.

The police officer wasn't looking for any recognition for his good deed but it was meant to be that the world got a glimpse of his act of kindness from a passerby snapping his photo.

Fantastic find Lips.  A very thoughtful kindness but so sad in so many ways.

Lips, I saw an interview by that police officer. 

DePrimo said he first approached the man and offered to buy him a pair of socks, but the man said, “No officer, but God bless you, thank you for asking.”

“Here it is, it’s freezing cold out and he has the heart to say God bless me,” DePrimo said.

That’s when he walked into a nearby shoe store and told the employee to sell him whatever their best boot was. The worker was apparently so moved that he offered him the employee discount.

DePrimo said he ducked out of the store to first ask the man for his shoe size before making the purchase.

“I surprised him, I said listen, I have this pair of boots, they’re in your size,” he said. “When I was sitting down helping him put on the boots he just said, ‘Thank you officer,’ he said, ‘God bless you and you know, stay safe and thank you for doing what you’re doing, you’ve done enough already.’”


Homeless man was quite amazing himself.
