Did you guys hear about they are taking off the traffic collision cameras?
I always thought it was a good idea to catch speeding and run red lights cars...
But some say that they cause more harm than good if so why is that?
Is this another case of it's all about money?

i see a few cons; are you entitled to a sense of privacy in your vehicle (pick your nose, bad hair-day)?....was I even driving? how do I argue with a camera?
but then, I think driving is a privilege not a right, so I don't see a great deal of harm in someone catching me running lights or speeding as I shouldn't be anyway.....if I ldon't like them, I'm under no obligation to drive

Those cameras should stay there, I agree with dtsweet that driving is more of a privilege than a right.

They installed "Right turn" cameras in Beaverton, OR (Read this some months ago off a local news website) and this was to stop "California Stops" (You just roll through the turn without coming to a complete stop) and nailing them for this.

Like you said Dtsweet, How can I fight a camera? How can I prove it wasn't recording right? Yes, there's room for questions.

Of course (Snicker) you CAN do 1 of 2 things.

Follow the laws as they are written, or use a spray that flares out the camera and so they'll never catch you. You can buy it online too

        Gene...................

How funny...I once got a ticket for the exact reason.
Police stopped me that I didn't fully stopped at the stop sign which I argued that it was not true.
He issued me a ticket for arguing with him. --------------

I don't really like those cameras at all. I can see where they would cause probs and maybe even accidents. People slam on brakes before they should in fear of getting snapped.

Had a friend who was at stop light and got snapped by camera because the front tire was touching the line on the street where to stop. I mean c'mon now...seriously?

We have enough big brother watching us as it is without that. It just a way for the city to make more money on violations.

I see some of your points saying it is good.......but i think maybe the bad out weighs it. Would be curious to see the statistics with them and how many accidents have been spared. One thing for sure is the cities got richer statistically.
