Should we speak up if something bothers us??

With some events in recent news, a big subject is how wrong it is to stand by and let something bad/mean/hurtful be done to someone and do nothing.

I took a break from here for a few days and a couple things kept popping into my head.

We can all agree teasing/making fun of/hurting or belittling ANYONE is wrong.

There was someone who posted a thread about free chips.  He claimed to be a support staff, which I doubt, but he did have some valid points.  People are always whining, griping and complaining about not getting a particular free chip offer, not only here but everywhere.  I'm sure support wants to pull their hair out on occasion. Many had fun on that thread, at least they posted it was a fun thread.

Why is it okay to make a poll to call someone names?  Isn't name calling wrong, no matter who you are callings names or the circumstance?  I'm not criticizing those that posted because they were invited,b y the head of the entire site do to do.

Just needed to get that off my chest.

Gabby you are right, and we ALL can sometimes be wrong.. i can understand and support crictizism.. but what is so hard about having compassion on a person/member where it is obviously, *o b v i o u s l y*  needed and just letting that go? I'll even go as far as to say and contradict myself.. there are people who come here with bad/frauding/shilling intentions making several names not joining to be members from the start knowingly,even have been warned several times those are the people who will get what they deserve, unleash the dragon.. honestly in my opinion the other case scenario theres a big difference and shouldn't be compared to that link..

It is clear enough ( at least to everyone else ) what that guy did and how he addressed this forum and its members.( using not so nice words, images etc ) , then creating multiple accounts to continue with their provocations.

They got what they deserved. Also it is my obligation to protect LCB and its members.

Why? Because I as "the head of the site" decided to make things fun, and yes name and shame the person who dared to come into my house and provoke, insult and name call my guests.

This person was warned, then banned, then they created multiple accounts and done the same thing all over again.

And I as "the head of the site" say you get what you give.

I absolutely support what Zuga has said. This person was not one of our own and we are here to protect our own. Don't come here and attack our members or you will see some cannon balls flying back in your direction.

Ganging up on one another is a different story. I'm sure that can be understood by all. I'm confused as to why posting in a thread where you were called a beggar bothered you yet posting in a thread that was hurtful to a fellow forum member was perfectly alright.

I haven't read your entire post.  I wasn't referring to anyone from the LCB forum.  I actually was thinking about this while watching a lot of news coverage regarding the Penn State child molestation charges.  Many have lost their jobs and are being criticized in the news for 'not speaking up'. Hence, the title of my thread.

Interesting how you mention you would not reply in that particular thread because it "bothered" you. This leans towards not wanting to get involved in any post that is insulting. Yet there was no holding back when it came to a member on this forum. That to me is a double standard.

However,  I completely understand where you are coming from. Why? Because in some ways you feel attacked yourself and it's only natural to build a line of defense. And in essence if you didn't care about this forum or the people here you would of left and i have to admit i admire you for that.

I personally invited you back when you were gone for a bit because as i am sure not just me, but many enjoy your posts.

It is never easy being in the public eye especially when you feel like you are the underdog and everyone is giving you a hard time and you feel misunderstood. I know Gabby cuz i have been in the line of fire more than once.

We may here at LCB at times seem harsh when we jump in when there is this type of drama. The reason is our policy is to create a warm community. Other forums may yell, fight and have free rein to do it.

We don't do this here because people like you end up getting hurt. Sometimes in order to make peace someone is always going to get hurt before it is all said and done.

But i hope at the end of the day there is a clear understanding that we all respect one another.

I could be wrong here but i am peeling the layers of the situation and inside you are hurt. Just like anyone else on this forum it is not nor never was our intention.

You are a part of this family and you are admired by many, don't ever doubt that.

Now can i offer a peace pipe and hopefully through this holiday season we are right here together where we belong?

I began to explain my thoughts regarding 'recent news' in more detail.  It was about Penn State.

As I just posted to Zuga.  Joe Pa and the head of Penn State have been fired for not speaking up and doing something to stop something bad going on.  My post was too long so I condensed to 'recent news'. 

I'm sorry you jumped to the wrong conclusion I was referring to what happened last week.  That has nothing to do with this thread.  You can ask the person you are speaking of, I sent him an email after my break here.

You are right lips, I needed a break after what went on last week.  I will only speak for myself but I was exhausted.  I felt many were taking the time to respond to something which fell on deaf ears.  It was frustrating and the entire thing got out of hand but I did feel some of us were taken to task while others were.... coddled.  Don't know if that's the right word, but I hope you get the meaning.

This thread, again, got me thinking because of Penn state. It goes for all folks who name call, stand by and do nothing, turn a blind eye, etc. Don't know if you're watching the coverage.  If you are, you will have a better understanding of where I'm coming from.

ok...i have not posted anything for a few days because I too was hurt and i should have known it was getting out of hand,which of course it did. We are like a family here and I think we need to move on and if necessary forgive and forget either ourselves or eachother.This forum and the people on it are too important to me to let either go.I would miss the people on here whom have become a part of my life..weather we always agree with one another or not.

Not quite sure I understand your first sentence.  Is the lcbegger link  the thread that went a horrible direction?  If so, I had no reason to post that one.  I apologize if my original post was to vague but I think I have made it clear 'recent news' meant the goings on at Penn State and those that remained quiet.
I didn't want to go into a ton of detail (I even mentioned same Lucky's thread) about remaining quiet.  One thing that sent me over the edge was being called a bully.  My daughter was bullied relentlessly her entire senior year.  Why?  It all started when another girl liked her boyfriend.  You know how people/friends jump on the bandwagon?  It happened to her and it was the worst thing for her and horrible for me as her mom.  She was tardy 83 times her senior year because she hid from the bullies until after the bell rang.  The story gets worse but I hope that sheds some light on my bully views.  Not one person stood up and said "stop" or 'enough is enough'.  Nobody wanted to take her place and be on the recieving end.

I went back and read what I wrote on the thread that turned ugly and I honestly don't feel I called anyone names, bashed, or made fun of the Lucky.  I was trying to respond and got frustrated doing so.....many of us did.  Lucky is a nice guy, from what I've seen here.  I think he had a point of view none of us agreed with and was defiant in his stance on the subject.  I think all of us who posted should have just left the thread alone.  Live and learn, I guess.

This thread was not made about what happened with Lucky.  Yes, it does fit into the....stick up for people, who is it okay to make fun of, etc.  I don't want to continue that drama.  I'm sorry it went as far as it did and if I hurt Luckys feelings...I'm sorry for that too.  Nobody here is better than anyone else, everyone has a right to post and I should not have held onto my viewpoint as if only what I say is right... that goes for every post I make.

And imagin.... this is way off topic but I saw you replied to my post in the 'weather thread'... guess what?  I live in Maple Grove. Small world, huh?
