  • Being constantly sick is a real downer.For the past couple of days i could barely type my hands hurt so bad.
    I wanted to see if you guys can suggest some activities that i can try that will help keep my mind off of my illness.I am really down in the dumps right now. :'(

  • hope you get well soon Rena. Fresh ( sea ) air seems to do wonders, maybe a short vaca is in order?

  • Rena, hang in there.  I know what you are talking about.  Maybe the hot/cold treatment might relieve some pain.  Nice soaky hot baths, with bubbles in candles if you've got them or bath salts...or just plain water still relieves the ache.  At least while you are in there.
    I also have filled 20 oz. used soda bottles with water and frozen them.  Hold on to them or rest your hands on them.  If the pain is going further up from the hands, hold the bottles under your arms.  Just stick them in the pit and lower your arm (wear a shirt).  This helps block some of the radiating nerve pain.  Eat well.  Sleep.  win something....

  • Aww so sorry to hear this Rena.  Chilly's suggestion sounds terrific as does the sea air suggestion from Zuga.  There is nothing like a brisk walk on the sea front with a nice strong wind to blow those cobwebs away.  Failing all of the above, try dancing (as long as your legs and feet are ok).  It won't help your hands but it will certainly take your mind off the pain.  Last week I was really sick and felt ill for almost a week (short term I know) but I found that dancing took my mind off of how I was feeling. 

    Alternatively, find some "point and click" games on the internet - they're not strenuous and they keep your mind off the pain.

    I truly hope you feel better very soon.

  • great suggestions guys i will try your ideas and yes a vacation sounds great maybe Tybi island for the fresh air lol  thanks so much you guys sure know how to make a body feels great thats why i love LCB

  • Get well soon Rena! Maybe you could do some yoga or meditation. That usually helps me go through anything. Take care.

  • another thing to try, rena, if you are up to it is doing some painting or arts&crafts (modeling clay, tie-dye, jewelry, etc...).  even if you aren't 'good at it' it's often enjoyable.  Keeping busy without having to do strenuous work is a good way to make the time pass a little faster.  Failing that, sleep.  Some dreams are really worth having.

  • I suggest music, any kind of music you like. That's my way of patching my wounds and getting my mind off troublesome things.

  • I hate being sick... I would suggest some lemonade crackers and a whole load of series ...  Dexter's new season is out now!!

  • Oh no we can't have our Rena feeling out of sorts! Have you tried over the counter products like Therma care heat wraps or Tiger Balm? That really helps for pain. Pamper yourself with a nice cozy blanket and a good cup of tea and have that "me" time just for you.

    I agree with Johnny too music is wonderful therapy and so are pets.

    So very sorry to hear your not well and hope you get relief soon.
