  • Hiya Guys and Dolls,

Losing someone that is close to our hearts has to be the most painful thing in life we can experience. Hoping to receive a sign from someone who has passed on i think is pretty common when you are grieving.

I truly believe it is possible and have felt certain things have happened that are beyond coincidence. I had had doorbells ring and no one is there, lights flicker and light bulbs constantly burning out.

My washing machine broke down and called a repairman to fix it. The day he was coming to the house i was out of town so i had a friend come over and to let him in. The repairs would cost $800 to fix and was told i was better off buying a new one. My friend left the receipt with estimate of repairs on my dining room table.

He came back later to let the dog out and noticed the receipt was turned face down. Not thinking much about it he turned it right side up. The next day when he came back to let bugsy out the receipt again was face down.

He told me about the odd occurrence when i got home. Not putting too much thought in it, however i made sure that receipt was facing up when i went to bed. The next morning i woke up the darn thing was faced down!

There was no one in the house who could of done it. There was no window open to blow it over, no ceiling fan overhead and i have central air from the vents in the floor so it couldn't be from that.

There is a story behind this darn washer. Before my loved one past on he was well aware of the washer not working and called for a repairman to fix it for me. A day or two later it broke down again. He was ticked off and called the guy up and said he needs to come back and fix it the right way and this time at no charge!

Well to make a long story short they never did come back and it wasn't until after he passed that i called a different repairman to look at it.

I began to think that it was him turning that receipt over because i paid another repairman to come out to the house.

Then my logic kicks in and i say nah it can't be........or can it?

Have you ever received a sign from someone who has passed away? If so what things have happened to you?

    Lips

  • That is a pretty strange story Lips, fairly scary as well, like anything that can't be explained through logic... I don't remember receiving such signs, fortunately.

  • That is a very spooky story Lips.  Looks like your loved one was trying to tell you to get those other guys back to fix it properly.

  • Omg no it was not scary at all, getting a sign from someone dear that passed IS fortunate if we are lucky enough. Didn't intend it to be a spooky thread at all...sigh. Meant it only as a comfort thing. If anything I think that receipt story was helpful and to get that other guy back and save the money!

  • It's extremely difficult to lose someone we love and that goes without saying. It's natural to talk yourself out of believing a sign because sometimes they are so subtle but then there are some that poke you and and say hey! That was one of those times lips. I can't say that anything has every happened to me but I wish it would.

  • I can see that it would be some sort of comfort Lips even just to know that he is there watching over you and watching out for you.

  • First off, I would just like to say I’m so sorry for your loss Lips. I have experienced quite a few loses in my life, friends, grandparents and my father and I’m only 28. Nothing can ever prepare you for something like that and I know in my darkest hours I would pray for some type of sign from each of them just to ease the pain. For those who haven’t lost someone close this may be difficult to understand, but to just face the ultimate fact that they are gone is something the mind never truly accepts. I believe that you might have gotten those signs because his spirit wants you to know he is always with you.

I remember when my friend and grandmother passed away the bathroom lights were constantly going out and I had some pretty intense dreams (which is one the best ways for them to communicate). As for when my dad died, which is still very fresh for me. I remember one afternoon I was home alone, it was the first time since his death. I was in the kitchen raiding the fridge when I heard his cough. I thought I was losing my mind that is had to be the TV, but I had put it on mute when I got up. It was clearly him and instead of being afraid I embraced and knew that was his way of saying “HI”. I also experienced the garage door handle turning in my hand slowly. I tried every possible way to see how that could happen, maybe it got jammed or something.

I think when those things happen we try so hard to create a logical explanation when there isn't any. I loved my signs and I have to say the hardest part is when they stop, I tend to tell myself they have passed on to their final resting place.

So Lips I say to you, embrace it.

  • Thanks fried eggs for the inspirational nudge i needed. Sounds like you have had some very difficult and painful losses and i completely understand what you have been through.

Just the thought of someone passing and it is so final and they are gone forever can be very difficult to deal with. My strength comes from believing they are around in spirit and are our guardian angels looking over us.

Perhaps it is my coping mechanism but i have always felt that the spirit never dies.

  • I'm so sorry for your losses Lips and fried-eggs.

Human brain is very fragile and suggestive and when we miss someone, I think that our brain is playing "games" with us, and even nothing bad has to happen, like death of close ones. When my best friend left the country, I was so sad that I was sure I heard his voice a few times.

But still, it's a nice thought that the spirit never dies; it certainly gives comfort and sense that someone is watching over us. I think it's a coping mechanism and there's nothing bad about it.

  • I'm sorry for your loss fried eggs. I believe in signs and you certainly had some amazing ones. They help us realize that you will see them again and I've got a few people that I can't wait to see.

  • many times.  Things. falling. For n o reason i. wrote a story about it too

  • Lips, so strange that you posted this.  I was reduced to tears the other evening at 'Meet the Teacher' evening.  It is my daughter's first year of school, and my husband and I took her to this event to drop off school supplies and meet her teacher.  My grandmother and I were best friends.  We talked on the phone every single day, and she was always the first family member to hear of any major accomplishments that I had.  Job offers, college acceptance, marriage, grandbaby, etc.  She was the first one I called, and she was always so happy for me.  We lost her at 94 years old and my life hasn't been the same since.  A huge piece of my heart was lost that day.  Her name was Josie, and she was the most spectacular woman anyone would ever meet.

When we got to my daughter's school, we found her assigned seat.  I looked at the names on the table she was sitting at, and straight across from her was a nametag that said 'Josie'.  She is watching over us, I know that it was a sign from her.  Wow, tears again.  But happy ones.  smiley

Awww that's a lovely story but very sad too Jodi.  Life is hard to get used to without the people we love but I can surely see the comfort that this has brought you.

  • Thanks for sharing your story with us Jodi. It certainly brings comfort and i do strongly believe signs from loved ones are delivered to us.

I talked to a famous Medium a couple weeks ago that is quite popular in our area and booked a year in advance but a good friend knows her well and got me. She told me things that my loved ones said that no one knows. It brought me tremendous comfort. Several loved ones came through and said specific things to confirm it was them.

It brought me tremendous peace and i am very happy you got the message you needed.

@Marana hope you can share some of your experiences with the forum.

  • That's a very cool story Jodi. It's good to recognize those signs from our loved ones. smiley

  • Awe Jodi, what a cool story. It's nice to see she is there watching over your family.0

  • Without a doubt I believe in signs from our loved ones.My pops died when I was 23 but I've always felt that he is still with me.After he passed,I slept in his bed one night and had a dream where he told me all was alright and he no longer suffered.

Without getting in too much detail,a couple of months back,my grandson tried to take his own life.He will be 12 on 9-11-2013.Needless to say,I was besides myself with worry.I awoke in the middle out the night when I felt someone sit down on my bed and I told me, he would be ok.My bedroom door was open, which I ALWAYS close and I thought my hubby had come in to the room to check on me.I thought it was Rick and was going to ask him why did he leave it open.Well after he told me he had gone out to the livingroom for a smoke and had not come back in yet,I knew  then my pops was trying to comfort me and let me know that even tho my grandson has a ways to go,he was out of immediate danger.
He has come to me more than once when I really needed it,so I'd like to say...thank you Dad....I love and miss you!!

  • Awww Rosebud.  That is so moving.  Thanks for sharing and I'm glad your Dad is looking out for you and your grandson.
