  • Inspired by Froggys foot pedicure thread and the silly question asked by the customer, it reminded me of a couple of occasions many many years ago where two women on different occasions asked a dumb question.

The first one was going to cook a roast chicken for dinner and she wanted to know "What size potato should I put in the chicken?".  A little confused, one of my colleagues asked her what she meant about putting a potato in the chicken.  She said she wanted to stop the chicken from collapsing and this was the only way,.

The second woman was due to get married in a few weeks time and she was buying some pots and pans to go in her kitchen once they were married.

She said "I'm having trouble finding a tall saucepan".  As she said this, she was gesturing with her hands, one hand held palm upright at the bottom and the other hand palm down at the top but her hands were at least a foot apart.

Asked what she needed this one foot high saucepan for, she replied so "To cook spaghetti in".

I think we were all in shock as nobody said a word for at least a minute and nobody laughed either.

What is sad is that these women had obvously had a very sheltered life and not been taught the basics of cooking.

Have you ever heard anyone ask a really silly question?

  • Those two examples are really funny, I can't remember witnessing such dumb questions...

  • Not exactly dumb question, more of dumb statements.  Went out to eat with this guy one time, and he ordered the local favorite, chicken-fried steak, with cream gravy.
After he was about half-way finished eating his steak, he said, "This is really good chicken!"

And when my son was about 4 or 5 he was acting up, IMHO, and I told him he needed to behave.  He was almost crying when he exclaimed, "But I AM being haved!"

  • I had a DUMB response once.  I don't know why I said it because I knew it was stupid even before it came out of my mouth.  My husband and I were taking a hunting safety course and the instructor wanted to know what a hunter should wear when out hunting.  I raised my hand and blurted "feathers".  I honestly don't know why I said it.  I still laugh at myself.

  • There was a burger place called Rallys Hamburgers. This guys says to me oh Rally Hamburgers what kind of food do they have there? Burgers and stuff?

  • here's one, is there chicken in chicken of the sea tuna?

  • Oh i know i have had my fair share of dumbness with words. I was sitting here for a few minutes trying to remember them. Seems the harder i try the more i draw a blank. But i did remember one.........

I always thought "befriend" meant a friend that didn't support you. And when someone said to me that so and so "befriended" her i was like "oh that's too bad" and she looked at me like i was nuts and said why.

I said "why"? She wasn't being a very good friend and she said what on earth are you talking about....... embarrassed embarrassed embarrassed embarrassed

Great thread blue, gave me a good laugh!
