Snow - It's More Than Just Flakes

Hiya Guys and Dolls,

Sick of the snow? 2014 will be a year to remember with tons of snow and record breaking cold temperatures. Since we are stuck with it might as well put it to good use! My mom had a recipe for snow that she would make with freshly falling snow when i was a kid.



Recipe:

8 cups of fresh clean snow
Add a dash of vanilla
1 can of sweetened condensed milk

Stir well add sprinkles and you have snow ice cream!

Clean snow is key for that ice cream. Don't think about adding a little more flavor and scooping up any of that yellow snow.

We used to make snow taffy when I was a kid.  We cooked it up inside, then took it out and poured it on the snow and it would instantly set.

Those snow sculptures are phenomenal!!!

Snow art is beautiful! I've had the snow sundae, it's great need to make it this year, there is more than enough snow!

No snow for us yet this year but that recipe would make it all worthwhile.  Love the sculptures too - amazing.

Did you know that every snow flake that falls has it's own unique design and every single one is different? That's mind blowing considering the billion of flakes that have fallen.



All snowflakes have a hexagonal shape but other details of their geometry can vary. This is caused by different temperature and humidity conditions of the air as the snowflake falls. Some combinations include flakes with long needle-like arms, flakes with wide flat arms or  thin, branching arms.

Snow flakes have crystal structure, that is probably the main reason for the unique designs.
This got me thinking, they are like humans: we are all of the same structure, but every single one of us is different and unique
