  • Ernie Chambers (the man in the photo), a Nebraska State Senator and civil activist, became famous all over the world after bringing a lawsuit against ... God!

His accusations against God included  “widespread death, destruction and terrorization of millions upon millions of the Earth's inhabitants." He said he filed the suit in an attempt to prove how important it is that all citizens be able to present any grievance before a court, at a time when there were several initiatives trying to prevent “frivolous” lawsuits.

“The Constitution requires that the courthouse doors be open, so you cannot prohibit the filing of suits. Anyone can sue anyone they choose, even God,” he Chambers said. The Court was not impressed though and the suit was dismissed. The official reason was that God did not have an address and, therefore, could not be served notice of the trial.

I think he should have sued the Church instead, they do have an address smiley

  • Well, since he is wasting the court's time, and thus taxpayers money, not really sure how much I appreciate the whole thing, although it sure sounds like a hell of a fun day in court:-)

  • "OMG – Oh My God! Their are still free person who try nothing just wanna be famous by this type of misconduct

  • A state senator? I expect that kind of craziness from a crackhead but a state senator?!?  Makes no sense. Johnny, I can send him the addresses of a few churches. laugh_out_loud

  • You're right Johnny, if he wanted to sue someone he should have tried with the church. But I wonder, doesn't he have anything better to do?

  • He got exactly what he wanted - worldwide recognition. But as far as i see it, its quite a bold move questioning and taking the man upstairs to court. Politics and religion don't mix well and it could be the very thing will have him losing the next election.

  • I agree with you Lips, I would love to be standing at those pearly gates when he faces his judgement day. He got his 15 minutes of fame and for a ridiculous reason. Who knows, maybe I should sue Mother Nature for bad weather!  laugh_out_loud

  • I guess he made a good point if nothing else.

  • yeah Blue , fried-eggs made  good point  thumbs_up and hope if  the person get fame for ridiculous reason and then surely we will stand to sue Mother Nature for bad weather!

  • I would like to sue my parents for this nose I've got... Bastards!

Sorry Thammavongsa - I meant the guy who took out the lawsuit particularly "He said he filed the suit in an attempt to prove how important it is that all citizens be able to present any grievance before a court, at a time when there were several initiatives trying to prevent “frivolous” lawsuits. "

  • OK, as far as we're in the discussion about religion...
Have you heard of pastafarians?? It's a Church of a Flying Spaghetti Monster, invented as a joke, but getting more and more followers. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flying_Spaghetti_Monster

Well, there's this Austrian guy, an atheist, who was persistent enough to make the government  accept his picture for the driving licence, with the pasta strainer on his head smiley
