I remember being in Vegas as a kid (we practically lived there we went so much), and while standing in line for the restaurants, watching ppl play the slot machines. I used to say "why would someone play something when their odds are so low?!" My parents played video poker. Lol I absolutely LOVE slot machines and that's really my preferred game. Hahaha boy have times changed.

If we take into attention that our governments know better what we can spend OUR money on then slots probably won't exist by then

Or the slots will be owned and operated by the governments.  Taxes taken out of every spn, machines made tighter during governmental financial crises , things like that.

Since my government does such a good job of running things, I imagine I need to take up crocheting.

In response to the first post, my dearest friend has an antique slot in her sitting room.  I really want to try it.  I can only imagine it is worth a bit of money as a collectible  as it is in great condition.

Omgosh.  So funny to see this thread.

I was just thinking the other day of our honeymoon to Lake Tahoe.  I was 23 when I got married and don't think I had gambled but once prior.

I remember getting my rolls of quarters and a bucket.  Sitting at a slot machine and putting one quarter, Maybe 2, if I was on  roll, pulling the arm and seeing quarters drop into the silver tray.

I remember a time or 2 carrying a couple of buckets full of quarters to find my husband so he could go  the cashier cage and we would watch them dump the quarters in the counting machine.  The casino had a 'thing' that would show the dollars adding up and we kept hoping to hear more quarter sounds so the total would increase.

        Aaah - the memories.

In Hungary the government decided about banning the gambling before a year or so. So there are no slot machines in the country expect several big casinos. Before there were a lots of slot machines in pubs, etc. It was a really weird decision.

Every since they have taken most of the 3 liners out of the casinos I have missed the clanging of the dollars or quarters hitting the tin tray on the bottom of the machines. Looking for buckets to put the coins in and trying to carry them to the cashier. Sure our hands were dirty, but I loved it

We still have the money coming out of the slotmachines So that hasn't taken away.. But i miss the old mechanical slotmachines. The last ones were gone 4 years ago, you could smash in 5 santims, that's around 10 euro cents, and make a spin :D

I live quite close to a few famous seaside towns on the south east coast of the UK and there's some great vintage slot machines and arcade machines in most of the arcades that are great fun. Some of them are intentionally vintage, some of them have jut been there a long time haha.
