  • I've seen this before in other videos, to me it's amazing, in another video i watched a lioness take in a baby monkey, then theres this one.. here a lioness takes in a baby deer as her own, she cares for it, protects it and wacthes over her "deer". This is supposed to be her meal, but something has happened.. the power of mother instinct takes over.. At the end a lion does come along and sets the record of mother nature straight.. but the look on the lioness face, her disposition seems so sad and helpless after this happens..  :'(

The thing that strikes me is if she raised this deer, would it of gained the characteristics of a lioness, like hunt and eat meat.. other things run through my mind..

It's not in english, a man is speaking about it first explaining the video, a gentle lovng relationship between a lioness and a baby deer... give it a minute to get to the video.

  • It is pretty incredible that motherly instincts take over in this case, particularly as the baby deer would normally be lunch for the lioness.

It is really sad that the lion ate it though and from the looks of the deer, it was likely going to starve to death.  It did look very thin. I know this is going to sound harsh and it really isn't meant to sound that way at all but, perhaps nature has been kinder by the deer being eaten by the lion rather than a long slow painful death through starvation.  There would have been no way the lioness could have cared for it surely?

  • so sweet seeing this kind of video.. I'm an animal lover and my heart is touch by this video.. a mother will always be a mother no matter what.. If animals can do this surely people also can... thanks for sharing this video.. smiley

  • This brings an old incident back to mind... Around 15 years ago, when I was still living with my parents, they had two dogs, two "girls" that the whole family loved.

At some point one of them gave birth to four puppies and the other one, who never had any "kids", took one of the puppies from the basket and just called it her own.

She used to cuddle him all day log and wasn't letting anybody near him. The biggest surprise is that within a few days her lactation started and she began feeding the puppy like it was her own!

  • Wow that is incredible Johnny.  Mother nature really is pretty amazing.

  • Argggggg i was not expecting to happen what happened. When i first saw that lion with that sweet deer in its mouth i thought oh no please, please don't tell me he killed that sweet baby....sigh.

A mother's instinct is incredible and this is a true tribute to it. What a rare sight to be able to capture on camera. Absolutely amazing.

  • I agree i thought this was an incredible and amazing video.. until the end of course, we should as compassionate humans feel sadly about it, on the other hand, it is their survival and it just has to be accepted if we want lions on this earth, we can't hide from mother nature and/or the way things are...the circle of life on this planet, and it's always going to be the right way.

I think you are right blue.. possibly would of starved or lived malnourished at least, and if it survived how much of this deer would have changed in characteristics, what would of been carried on to it's generation..the deer would have been taught what the lion knows

Johnny thats a beautifuland amazing story to read.. loved it
