I have just read an interesting article in The Guardian about people finding their love on the internet. I'll just give you a few examples but you should read the full article:

        - Comment Is Free: Emily Band, 19, met her boyfriend Tom Cuffe, 19, 'below the line'
        - Second Life: Kristen Sweet, fell for her husband Steve, 52, as an avatar
        - Myspace: Richard Cardenas, 33, cyber-flirted with wife Desiree, 28
        - Twitter: Sam Pinney, 31, popped up in the timeline of girlfriend Katherine Wheatley, 30
        - MSN: Daniel Miller, 24, and wife Jamie, 23, were modern-day penpals
        - Facebook: Angela Nolan, 37, met her husband Liam Adcock, 29, a few months after joining the site

I have to admit that I'm fairly sceptical about all this as I don't think that you can really fall in love with a "virtual" person.

        What do you think?

A good question Johnny but the fact is that it does happen.

Who would have thought that falling over and breaking your arm could lead to the love of your life, a new country and marriage.  In Australia a couple of years ago, a young woman fell and broke her arm and was signed off work for 8 weeks.  During one of her very bored moments, she decided to follow this guy on twitter.  He appealed to her because of his wit.  She started following him.  He did a few tweets, she responded to one of his tweets and so it went on from there.  First a text message on her phone then a phne call....and now?  They get married in August and she will be moving to England shortly after their marriage.  They are the most perfect couple.   They compliment each other perfectly and I know my little bro is the happiest he has ever been.

Without a shadow of a doubt i think it is possible. I think many years ago it was balked at but has become way more acceptable and common practice today.

If it can build wonderful friendships why doesn't it have the potential to fall in love with someone? I think in some cases you can become much closer with an online relationship quicker than and offline one. Mainly because all you have is the written word therefore you are more compelled to communicate and in essence open up.

Whereas in real time you have those awkward moments in the beginning, whether it be your shy etc or simply because your not in a position to continual have a flow of communication like you do online.

I see it on the forum from time to time. Members including myself have shared painful things that may not be so easy to express in person. The written word is a powerful tool and the key to your inner heart and soul.

I agree with Blue and Lips, it's very possible because it's far more easier to express yourself.  And from my experience, it's possible to meet someone and fall in love. People can feel if there is a chemistry between them, so later you feel like you know them when you meet in person. Of course, many people abuse the opportunities that Internet offers but I'm thinking about honest people here.

I met my husband online and we talked for months until one day he had some time off work and asked if he could possibly come to meet me. I lived about 2 hours away in the mountains. I was dying to meet him so I agreed and we set up a place to meet in a small town (about 4 blocks long and 4 blocks wide) near me in a public park with lots of people around.

Long story short, he brought back-up in the form of the most wonderful Samoyed named Kaylo and they both instantly had my heart. Then came the driving back and forth and eventually I moved to the town I grew up in where he happened to live. About six months later he came and picked me up in the middle of my work day and we eloped. Now it has been 10 years since we met and we are still together.

So, yes it can happen! And I am excited for your little brother too blue!

Give it a try rena. It could be fun. There are some good sites out there to meet people from what I hear. Even if it doesn't turn into anything serious, you could have some interesting stories to tell us.

Rena you should definitely give it a try... just remember you may have to kiss a lot of frogs to find a prince! So, go carefully, be choosey, take your time and play safely.
