  • Well, everyone, I had a great and terrible night.  I hit 50 free spins on a dollar bet on T-Rex, my heart shot through the roof!

But as those reels were spinning on my 50 spins, my husband came in and exploded at me because I am gambling and he doesn't want me to.  It scares him to death that we will be in the poorhouse and I don't blame him.

So I have decided that I will not be gambling anymore.  I figure my win on T-Rex at Lucky Red tonight is a decent way to go out.

For the past year since I've been playing, I spend WAY too much money and even more time on gambling and it's not good for the family, and I don't want to be glued to this damn computer all the time.

So I will be putting Gamblock on my computer.  That way I won't be tempted, as I always am.  I don't know if Gamblock will allow me to visit this forum, but if not, I want to say thanks and best of luck to all of you in your gaming!  May you be luckier than I was!  smiley

Much Love, in case I don't get to come back again!  I have so enjoyed meeting you all!!

  • Good for you for recognizing what could be a problem and choosing your family above it all...That takes alot of strength and will power to just walk away..as we all know gambling can be an addiction...Way to go girl!!    By the way, how much did you win on your 50 free spins??

  • Thanks for the words of support Satan!  I won about $650.00.  Not huge but not too shabby!

  • Hi Amy,

I understand you need to do that......but OMG i hope you can come to LCB to talk with us. I would really really miss you if you are blocked from us. I have enjoyed your posts so much and shared your sorrow.

Just won't be the same if your not around. I wish you the best and you are doing the right thing. Your family comes first!

I hope and hope and hope we are not blocked. If so, thanks for being such a part of LCB.

  • Congratulations Amy!

On your win and your decision.

  • Debra, your reply made me cry.

    Lips, yours made me smile.

    Thanks so much!

  • Amy, I am glad you won something before your exit!

I like Lips really hope you will be allowed to come here and talk to us. It would be like losing a sister/friend :'(

I am so proud of you for being able to go cold turkey with this super crazy addiction gambling thing. It takes a great deal of strength to do this.

My husband doesn't gamble at all and he doesn't like me gambling (except for when I come home and give him hundreds...hypocrite :-\ grin) It started out as just some time away from the family to relax, but once I hit it real nice and I knew what the machines could do, I was gone. And at one point I was way out of control, I have since had to check myself and pump my brakes. At this point I am not ready to give it up, but I have toned it down quite a bit. I try to only play when I have taken care of everything and everyone else, that way they are no looking at me crazy when I am spinning like crazy.
But like you Amy, I wouldn't hesitate to give it up if it truly was affecting my family. You are doing the right thing and God will fill your life with so much goodness that it will be a painless journey to recovery! And I sincerely believe that kiss One day, I wanna be just like you cheesy

    Happy Holidays and Merry Christmas!

Sorry for talking so much, I can't help myself!

  • Wow, I couldn't do that, I'm so bad, I fight back. Amyspear you don't need good luck, you already as good as they come. Now your family is very lucky to have you.

  • AMY I WILL REALLY MISS YOU.  YOU ARE MORE THAN JUST A "MEMBER" HERE, WE ARE LIKE FAMILY.  BUT I KNOW HOW IMPORTANT YOUR "REAL" FAMILY IS.  YOU NEED TO DO WHAT IS BEST FOR ALL OF YOU.

JUST IN CASE YOU CAN'T COME BACK TO LCB, YOU CAN EMAIL ME ANYTIME!!  wink

  • Hi Amy,

What a sad day to lose such a great member from LCB but I do understand your reasoning and need.

I am pretty sure you will be blocked from this site and so I wish you all the best in life and love.  Have a wonderful Christmas and do take care.

If you are not blocked from this site, then thats a bonus for us.

All the very best to you.

    blue

  • Amy:
Your such a wonderful member of LCB.  If you can't come back I just want you to know how much you'll be missed.  By LCB as a whole, and by me personally.

I understand your decision, and I applaud you for it. Your family and their needs always come first. Your doing the right thing.

Wishing you the most joyous season this Christmas, but more than that, happiness thru out the new coming year.

                                        Your friend:
                                                PMM

  • Amy:  Please stay in touch with LCB.  We need our friends here!  Also, if you are quitting gambling, it is a good idea to get support to accomplish that.  While a few can quit cold turkey, most cannot.  The "urge" will return....big time.  That is not about you or your weakness, that is simply how the human brain works.

Again, it would appear lots of folks here care about you....and we are here to support you.

  • whats gameloc and how do you get it? Im in same boat as you amy I know exactly how you feel and know whats goin on with hubby (cause I have same situation here). Thats why I would like to know about this game lock.
You will be tempted. This obssession is strong. Talk to it like its a little you sitting on shoulder and tell it to go away! Good luck Amy and be strong. We will all miss you and will be supporting you 100%

  • Amy, Let nothing I say dissuade you from this.  It's a bitter pill to admit you have a problem, but it is also a good choice if gambling is out of control.

I speak as a former member of GA myself.

I suggest contactuing the nearest GA (You can find meeting locations online) and I hope there's also a secondary support group for spouses included. They also need to understand they are part of the solution to this, but not the cause of course.

You'll have many say they'll help and some will smiley

Always remember, you do this for YOU. Not for family, friends or such. YOU are the patient, YOU need to always remember this. It really is YOUR recovery, not theirs.

My prayers go out to you and best of success for this.

P.S. The Gamblock will most likely keep you away from us, but it also may block other sites, beware. Be Safe.

  • Amy,

It is a sad day to think we can loose such a sweet member. I have really enjoyed your posts, and wish you the best.

Making the decision is that you made is the best thing if it causes such conflict in your home. I applaud you on being a strong enough woman to make that decision!

You know Amy, if you take anything away from your expierences in life, just remember....

Your always going to be a cherished member of this forum and no matter what you will aways have us to lean on to help you to stick to your decision. You can PM me and I will give you my numbers to contact me if you ever need to talk to someone when you get that "urge".  No matter what day or time, if you need me I will be there.

You will be so very missed if Gamblock blocks you from us. I really wish the most wonderful holiday and stay strong, we are all here for you.

    LH

  • Amy, you are a brave and responsibly person to come out and admit that there may be a problem, and to actually want to do something about it.  I wish you nothing but the best of luck.

  • Awww, thanks so much everyone for your kind words!  You are stuck with me at least until my withdrawal goes thru from Lucky Red, since I can't afford the Gamblock until it goes through! lol...

Louise - Gamblock is a software that you can download that blocks your computer from accessing gaming websites.  I had it before for a year, it cost about $80 and it was a great year, I got used to not playing and it was no longer a part of my life.  But after the program expired (I didn't renew after the first year) the temptation got to me....

I sure hope it doesn't block me from coming here!  I would miss you guys!  I've only been a member here for a relatively short time, but in that time I have met some truly good people.  The LCB family!

  • Oh wow that is a hard thing to do. I hope thing work out for you . You have a merry christmas and happy new year.

  • Amy, I'm so proud of you!  I have come very close myself, to taking the same steps to stop online gambling and then I somehow manage to slow it down on my own to where it is within a reasonable amount (time AND money).  I do recognize that I gamble too much and had to look at WHY I do it, and WHY it continues to suck me in.  For me, it all began a few months after my husband died in 2004.  Was a way to pass the time and drown my sorrow...I was alone....I didn't want to be around people and this was one way I coped with my loss.  When a couple of BIG wins came along, that was probably the turning point of liking to gamble far too much and I've had a difficult time shutting that desire down.  I guess I have some pretty deep issues to deal with that GA alone probably won't fix!

I may do the same as you soon.  I hope...wish.....pray....that you will be successful in your goals and I will miss you too.  Have enjoyed your posts and appreciated your replies to some of mine.  Take good care of YOU, Amy.  God Bless.

  • dear amy , you do right---  family goes first  ---all the best for you
