Hiya LCB’ers,
I don’t always have the time to sit down and read a book. But when I find a book that interests me I can’t seem to put it down til I have read it from cover to cover. My favorite books are inspirational.
Amongst my favorite books are The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. It is a inspirational book about a journey and following his dreams…… “And when two such people encounter each other, and their eyes meet, the past and the future become unimportant. There is only that moment, and the incredible certainty that everything under the sun has been written by one hand only. It is the hand that evokes love, and creates a twin soul for every person in the world. Without such love, one's dreams would have on meaning.”
The other book is The Holy Man. It’s about pilgrims who wait in line for days to seek answers from the holy man at the top of a mountain. Along this journey encounters with people who wait in line and the wisdom it sends to the reader.
The grandmother who never receives thank you notes from grandchildren, the man whose jealousy is all-consuming, the alcoholic, the veteran who can't forgive himself for the loss of life he contributed to during the war, the impatient woman, the self-absorbed "famous person" all of these characters and many more make up a cast of incredibly human individuals. Readers are sure to see a bit of themselves or someone they know within these brief chapters. It’s a little book that sends a Big message!!
What are your favorite books?

You have GOT to read his books, for the most part his movies do not translate well to the big screen with a couple of exceptions,Shawshank redemption, The Green mile, Carrie,Christine, I have read almost all of his books and am a serious fan.

I bought a set of books over a year ago, bought them for a friend.. things happened and the books never got delivered to them.. BUT.. i pulled out the the seventh series and began to read it..
They are in paperback.. but there was 3 novels written, the series i beleive is 32 Books, first coming out in 1988
These are fantasy books with everything in them..
Piers Anthony - Dragon on a Pedestal is the one i started with.. #7
There was trouble in Xanth again, all kinds of trouble, in fact. The Gap Dragon had escaped from the Gap and was ravaging across the land. The forget spell that had covered the Gap was breaking up into small forget whorls that wandered about giving amnesia to all they touched. Good Magician Humfrey might have had the Answer, but he had overdosed on water from the Fountain of Youth and was only a helpless baby. And Ivy, three-year-old daughter of King Dor and Queen Irene, was lost in the jungles south of the Gap. While Irene sought her without much hope, Ivy was wandering further into danger, her memories ereased by a passing forget whorl. Her path was leading her directly for where the Gap Dragon was seeking dinner.
Summary:
There's trouble in Xanth. A dragon has been terrorizing the vicinity of Castle Zombie, yet Good Magician Humfrey has issued dire warnings against harming it. And an inexplicable, invisible wave of amnesia appears to be sweeping away the memories of countless citizens.
This urgent state of affairs brings King Dor and Queen Irene, along with their 3-year-old daughter, Ivy, to Castle Zombie for an emergency conclave of Magicians.
Humfrey offers his colleagues some surprising and grim news: the rampaging beast is none other than the Gap Dragon- whose survival is essential to Xanth's security. The amnesia, he reveals, is the unfortunate result of miniature forget-whorls that have spun off the Forget Spell.
Dor and Irene, deeply concerned for all of Xanth, are suddenly absorbed in another, more personal dilemma. For a Zombie who has rescued Ivy from a dragon attack has stumbled into a forget-whorl and can't remember where he left her!
Now the frantic Irene must search the wilds of Xanth and find Ivy before she's discovered by one of the land's deadlier inhabitants. It is a search complicated by Ivy's own magical talent, nobody is aware of- especially the young princess herself.
Now i have not read them all but from what i understand in these books everything is in them, based alot mainly in fantasial.. midevil times, from drama to comedy, from romance to sex, from love to hate and back again, heroism to exile..much more.. words and characters i could never dream up! -

I am a reader, my mom was a reader, so I would read her books as a kid. Now I have refined what it is I like more and it varies. I love Kay Hooper, a new one I love is Keri Arthur with the vampire/wolf series. It's awesome. I love mysteries, but fun light stuff too like Janet Evanovich. I tried to read 'Clubbed to Death' by a series author who writes lighter mysteries, and couldn't get past the first chapter, got bored too easily. I love the Alphabet series, her latest U is really great. You can see her writing improve over the years. I have read Stephen King, but I think some of his best writing is his book 'On Writing' where he talks about how he writes, and his personal life, about being a junkie and alcoholic etc. I just read Wicked last week even though I didn't want to, but it was pretty good!

Those books look FASCINATING to me Imagin.ation, I'm still grieving the loss of a WHOLE box of Nancy Drew mysteries I had as a kid, I think they were lost in a move, they were hardcover and I read them all. Me Natalie was good, and the ORIGINAL Wizard of Oz books are very Sci-fi and different from what we grew up with.
I was a bookworm too and if my parents knew that I was reading some stuff beyond my years...oh boy. But no porn just more adult topics. -

My real name is Omarie. There's a ook out there, Stories Out Of Omarie.
I didn't particularly like it,it's kinda foreign-ish, and the stories were pretty good.
My favorite book is The Dragon Who Liked to Spit Fire. I remember always laughing and leaving off the word "fire".
I used to read ALOT. Was reading college level when I was 7. For many years now I haven't cracked a book open at all. Don't know what happened to me.
There is one author, Stephen R. Donaldson, who wrote a series -The Chronicles of Thomas Covenant. I fell in love with the land and the giants, and the ur-viles and even Lord Foul. You may even see me online under the name Fleshharrower. Gee, it's been like 30 years since I read that series and I really don't remember reading much after that but have read some parts of some books about Texas I inherited from my mom. -

Flight...another great book by one of my favorite writers, Sherman Alexie
a fun and fast read... about a throwaway kid name Zits. Half-Native American, half- Irish, an orphan since the age of 6, Zits is a self-proclaimed blank sky, a solar eclipse. He inherited his mother's green eyes and his father's acne. At 15, he has lived in 20 different foster homes, gone to 22 different schools and owns just enough clothing to fill a backpack.

Hmm... I read a lot and I would recommend Pilgrim, Timothy Findley, that's one of my favorite books. In short, Pilgrim can't die even though he kills himself over and over again. He's sent to a phyciatric hospital to be under the care of Carl Jung. It's a historical fiction, fantasy.... really good.
And another book, a must-read in my opinion, is The wind -up Bird Chronicle by Haruki Murakami. I don't know, the book is simply a masterpiece. -

My favourite novel which was also the only novel that I finished is called Lord of the Flies by William Golding.
The main reason why I like this novel is because I had to do a book report on it in high school and I feel that I was able to learn more about the plot and characters then the average reader. I learned a lot of lessons from reading and studying this novel and Irecommend it to all audiences.
