As I stated in my other thread yesterday Cledus died and last nite i buried him in the back yard until Ms. Lottie Lab digs him back up.  Well, I got woken up early this morning by a hysterical mother.  She thought my father had a stroke sometime in the middle of the night.  I told her to call 911 and me and my huge black lab would be over.  My dad is in bad shape but it wasnt a stroke.  A bad urinary track infection has caused him to not be able to speak  what he wants to  and his motor skills are all screwed up.  He studders and cant spit out what he wants to say and when he was finally admitted to a room from the er I had lunch sent up for him.  I had to show him how to hold a hamburger to eat it and how to use a spoon to eat his mash potatos.  I turned my back to him for 1 minute during the mash potatos and when I turned back around he was trying to eat them with his fingers.  So its 3 days of IV antibiotics and we go from there.  The best news is my Lottie lab behaved great for 10 hours at my parents downstairs.  Thank god my parents live less than 2 minutes from the hospital so I could go back and forth to take her outside.  Lastly for a laugh when the er doctor came in I had to ask my father questions to test his memory and speech.  My dad got 1 question right out of 6.  He knew my sister's name.  The last question I asked was, what was the name of my guinea pig that died yesterday.  His answer was Jesus.  Here for the 3 years and 9 months I had my mini pigs I gave Cledus the wrong name.

oh gunny you do have your hands full... so sorry about your dad! That is scary that a urinary tract infection can have such an effect on him...

And sorry about Cledus oops, I mean Jesus! You are too funny and with all that is going on you still have a great sense of humor! And good for Lottie Lab... that is a long stay alone in a place that is not her usual home...

Katt, I went back and forth 4 times to take her out and spend a little time with her.  She still has separation anxiety so thats the reason I take her everywhere I go.  I stopped to get her her favorite treat on the way home, a small McDonalds fries.  She is stretched out and passed out on the couch.  She does better over there when my dad is downstairs with her.  She has really taken to him.  I always laugh when she stretches that big body and neck of hers to try and give him a kiss on the lips.
